PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

Your safety is very important, as is that of others.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT

Basic safety precautions should always be taken when using electrical appliances, including:

  11. Always attach the plug to the appliance first, then plug the power cord into the wall outlet. To unplug, turn off all controls by pressing the button ( ), then remove the plug from the wall outlet.
  12. WARNING: Do not remove the cover when water bout.
  13. CAUTION: position the cover so that the steam is not flowing towards the handle.

  26. Do not clean the kettle using cleaners, steel wool or other abrasive materials. To avoid damage to the device, do not use alkaline cleaning products when cleaning; use a soft cloth and mild detergent.
  27. CAUTION: do not use the kettle on an inclined surface. Do not operate the kettle if the heating element is not completely submerged. Do not move the kettle while it is powered on.
  28. Burns may occur if the lid is removed during brewing cycles.
  29. The kettle should only be used to heat water.
  30. Do not overfill the kettle. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be splashed out.

Do not use an extension cord. If the power cord  is too short, have an electrical outlet installed near the appliance by a qualified electrician or service technician.
A short power cord (or detachable power cord) should be used to reduce the risk of entanglement or tripping with a longer cord.

USE OF THE PRODUCT

USING THE ELECTRIC KETTLE
Before using your electric kettle for the first time, clean the kettle and lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse them with clean water and dry them.
Fill the kettle with water, up to the MAX fill mark; bring to a boil, then discard the water. To avoid damage, do not immerse the electric kettle in water or use abrasive products or scouring sponges.

  1. Open the lid of the electric kettle by pressing the lid open button, then fill the electric kettle with clear, cool water. NOTE: The water level must be at or above the minimum fill mark for the electric kettle to operate. Do not exceed the MAX fill line.
  2. Push the cover down so that it is completely closed.
  3. Place the electric kettle on the base and plug the power cord into a grounded outlet.
  4. Turn down the on/off button; the ON light comes on and the electric kettle begins to heat the water.
  5. Once the water reaches boiling point, the electric kettle will automatically turn off; the ON/OFF button toggles and the light turns off to indicate the kettle has finished.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to unplug the power cord when the electric kettle is not in use.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

CLEANING THE ELECTRIC KETTLE

IMPORTANT: Allow the appliance to cool completely before putting on or removing parts, and before cleaning

1. The outer surface of the electric kettle can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Dry and wipe the electric kettle with a soft cloth. It is not recommended to use abrasive and stripping agents of any kind.

DESCALING THE ELECTRIC KETTLE
For optimal operation of your electric kettle, descaling is necessary.
Limescale deposits may form on the interior metal parts of the electric kettle. The cleaning interval depends on the hardness of the water you pour into the electric kettle.

  1. Fill the electric kettle with 0.25 L of white vinegar. Add 0.75 L of water. Boil and let sit overnight before pouring off the solution.
  2. Fill the electric kettle, bring to a boil and drain the water. Repeat this step twice. The electric kettle is now ready for use.

TREATMENT OF WASTE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

PACKAGING RECYCLING
The packaging is recyclable and bears the symbol. The different parts of the packaging must be disposed of responsibly and in strict compliance with the waste disposal standards in force in the country of use.

3. FOR FRANCE ONLY:

When acting for reasons of legal guarantee of conformity, the consumer: – benefits from a  period of two years from delivery of the product in which to act; – can choose between repairing or  replacing the product, subject to the conditions relating to costs provided for in article L. 217-9 of the French Consumer Code;

– is exempt from having to prove the lack of conformity of the product during the two years following its delivery (and during six months after delivery of the product, for second-hand goods).

The legal guarantee of conformity applies independently of any commercial guarantee offered.

Independently of this commercial guarantee, the consumer can decide to apply the legal guarantee for hidden defects within the meaning of article 1641 of the French Civil Code. In this case, the consumer can choose between cancellation of the sale or a reduction in the sale price, in accordance with article 1644 of the French Civil Code.

Article L. 217-4 of the French Consumer Code
The seller must deliver a product conforming to the contract and is held responsible for the lack of conformity existing at the time of delivery.
