Functional description
“Heating and cooling” operating mode
Modern heat pump systems often also provide the option of cooling rooms. This
function is supported by the JUNG HOME room thermostat in “heating and
cooling” operating mode. In this operating mode, the temperature is
permanently regulated to the set cooling temperature during active cooling
operation. There are no time programs in cooling mode. The cooling temperature
can be changed only with the temperature parameters on the device (or with the
setting in the app), not with the +/- buttons. In combination with a room
thermostat insert, cooling mode is activated by applying the mains voltage to
input terminal “C”. With switch inserts, cooling mode is activated by applying
mains power to extension input “1”. In general, the heat pump features a
corresponding output or a switch can be used.
Frost protection/temperature drop detection
The frost protection temperature is the minimum temperature to which the
system can be regulated to avoid frost damage. In the event of a significant
temperature drop, e. g. after opening a window, the temperature is set to the
frost protection temperature for a maximum of 30 minutes to prevent
unnecessary heating and wasting energy. For this, the temperature drop
detection parameter ****must be activated.
Optimised heating up
Heating is started at most 4 hours before the switching time, so that the
desired temperature has been reached at the switching time rather than
starting to heat up at that time. The display icon **flashes during the
heat-up phase.
Note:** Optimised heating up is designed for panel heating/radiators.
Temperature sensor offset ****
If the system detects that the displayed actual temperature differs from the
general room temperature, this parameter can be used to enter a correction
value in 0.5°C increments. The measured actual temperature is then corrected
by this offset value.
Controller adaptation
The control principle should be set depending on the heating system. Two-point
control: The output remains switched on until the selected setpoint
temperature has been exceeded by 0.5 °C. The output will not be switched on
again until the setpoint value is undercut by 0.5 °C. Since most heating
systems respond very slowly, this type of control can entail temperature
overshooting.
Pulse width modulation control ( ): Optimised for electrothermal valve
drives,
e.g. TVA 230 NC WW: The output is not permanently actuated, but only for some
time (pulse width) dependent on the difference between the target temperature
and the actual temperature. This method brings the actual temperature
gradually closer to the setpoint temperature. The cycle time is 15 minutes.
Valve adaptation ****
This parameter is used to adapt to the electrothermal valve drives. Some
drives are either open (deenergised open, setting NO) or closed (deenergised
closed, setting NC) when no supply voltage is applied.
Temperature sensor
The JUNG HOME room thermostat display features a built-in temperature sensor,
which is used to detect the room temperature.
In combination with a room thermostat insert, a wired remote sensor can be
connected, either to measure the room temperature or to limit the maximum
floor temperature.
The following settings are possible.
-
Internal sensor :
The room temperature is measured with the internal temperature sensor or a JUNG HOME temperature sensor (if linked). -
Wired remote sensor :
The room temperature is measured by the remote sensor that can be connected only to the room thermostat insert. The internal temperature sensor is deactivated. -
Internal sensor and wired remote sensor and :
The room temperature is measured with the internal temperature sensor or a JUNG HOME temperature sensor (if linked). The floor temperature is measured by the remote sensor that can be connected only to the room thermostat insert to enable monitoring of the maximum floor temperature. If the maximum floor temperature is exceeded, the floor heating is switched off until the floor temperature has fallen below the maximum value again. This way, an unpleasantly hot floor is avoided.
Valve protection function
The function prevents the valve from becoming stuck in long periods without
heating. For this purpose, the valve is opened and closed once a week at 11:00
am on Saturdays.
The device interrupts the heating process for five minutes after 60 minutes to prevent critical continuous operation.
Commissioning
Commissioning with app
Prerequisite: the JUNG HOME device has not yet been made a participant in
a Bluetooth Mesh network; otherwise reset the device to factory defaults.
If a Bluetooth Mesh network (project) does not yet exist, start by creating a
new project for the first JUNG HOME device in the JUNG HOME app.
If a Bluetooth Mesh network already exists, the project file for this network
must be opened to pair the new device.
After switching on the mains voltage, the device is automatically in pairing mode for 2 minutes.
-
Activate pairing mode manually:
Press the ****button for more than 4 seconds until the icon Ʃ flashes on the display. Pairing mode is active for two minutes. -
Start the JUNG HOME app and select “new project” or “Add devices”.
The app shows all devices in pairing mode. -
Select a device in the app.
For the identification of a room thermostat in the app, its display lighting begins to flash. -
Add the device to the project
- The symbol ****on the display lights up permanently to confirm the successful pairing.
- If the symbol ****flashes fast on the display, this means pairing has failed and must be repeated.
The JUNG HOME app can then be used to link devices wirelessly, create time programs and configure the parameters and operation (see list of functions and parameters). Once the commissioning of the JUNG HOME project has been completed, hand over the project file to the customer.
Besides basic commissioning, the JUNG HOME app enables device updates and convenient operation of further individual configuration options:
- Link: A button, binary input or motion sensor can be controlled by linking it to a load (e. g. dimmer, socket, switching output, shutter, etc.). Several loads can be controlled together by linking them to an area or scene.
- Area: Different loads (e. g. dimmer, socket, switching output, shutter, etc.) can be grouped in an area to allow them to be controlled together.
- Scene: Different loads (e. g. dimmer, socket, switching output, shutter, etc.) can be grouped in a scene so that, by calling up a scene, each load assumes the load status stored in the scene.
- Automatic function: An automatic function can be used to control the locally connected load (no wireless link) by means of time programs. Depending on the device type, there are further automatic functions in JUNG HOME, such as hotel function, night light function, holiday program or switching thresholds.
Commissioning without app
A commissioning of the device is also possible without the app. In this case,
however, you must set or confirm the data listed in the table. In the state as
supplied, the year flashes in the display and the commissioning menu is
activated.
- Briefly press the – or + button to change values or toggle between YES / No.
- A long press of the – or + button accelerates value changes.
- Press the ****button to go back in the menu.
- Press the ****button to apply the setting and call the next value. After editing the last parameter, all values will be saved and automatic mode will be invoked.
The device can then be added to a project at any time with the app (see Commissioning with the app) and the settings can be changed in the app.
-
Pulse width modulated control (PWM) = YES, two-point control = No
-
NC: Valve is deenergised closed.
NO: Valve is deenergised open. -
This parameter appears only when the device is set to “Heating and cooling”.
-
This parameter only appears if and have been set for the temperature sensor.

automatic mode, the time programs specify the next setpoint temperature in
each case. Furthermore, in automatic mode the – or + button on the device or
the app can be used to specify a new setpoint temperature, but this
temperature can be set only until the next switching time. In manual mode, all
time programs are deactivated and the device permanently sets the temperature
to the set setpoint temperature.
- If all time programs are deactivated, the device switches automatically to manual mode. Automatic mode cannot be activated.
- The setpoint temperature and the icon are shown in the display. Active heating is indicated by the flashing heating icon . If heating is not active, the icon lights up permanently. The icon indicates that the system is being regulated to the saved comfort temperature.
In manual mode, the icon is displayed.
Activating the boost function
With the boost function, the output is switched on for a maximum of 5 minutes
without temperature control action to obtain a temporary increase in
temperature.
The boost function can only be activated while in heating mode and if no temperature drop has been detected.
- Press the ****button for longer than 4 seconds.
The boost function is active. The display counts down from 300 seconds and then switches back to normal mode.
Press the ****button once again for more than 4 seconds to terminate the boost function prematurely.
Activating the holiday program**
The holiday program can be set and activated only with the JUNG HOME app. If
the holiday program is active, the device switches to manual mode. The display
shows the setpoint temperature for the holidays and the case symbol lights
up. The holiday program is interrupted and the temperature set at that moment
is maintained by the controller by briefly actuating the – or + button. The
holiday program is restarted by briefly actuating the button. ** Available

Mounting and electrical connection
The communication of the JUNG HOME devices and linked mobile end devices is
carried out in wireless mode within the range of the Bluetooth Mesh network.
Wireless signals can be affected in their range through:
- Number, thickness, position of ceilings, walls and other objects
- Material type of these objects
- High-frequency interfering signals
Observe the following fitting instructions to maximise the range:
- Plan the positions and number of JUNG HOME devices to keep the number of ceilings and walls between two devices as low as possible
- If JUNG HOME devices are installed on both sides of a solid wall, they should be positioned as close as possible to each other on the opposite sides of the wall. This keeps the attenuation of the wireless signal through the wall as low as possible
- When planning, observe the number of building materials and objects that attenuate the wireless signal strongly (e. g. concrete, glass, metal, insulated walls, water tanks, pipelines, mirrors, book cabinets, storage rooms and refrigerators) on the connection line between JUNG HOME devices is as low as possible
- Keep a distance of at least 1 m from devices that emit high-frequency signals (e. g. microwave, motors) or run with wireless signals at 2.4 GHz (e.g. WLAN router, baby monitor, IP cameras, wireless loudspeakers etc.)
DANGER! Electric shock when live parts are touched.
Electric shocks can be fatal.
Always disconnect before carrying out work on the device or load. For this,
switch off all corresponding circuit breakers, secure against being switched
on again and check that there is no voltage. Cover up adjacent live parts.
Prerequisite: The system insert is mounted and connected properly (see instructions for the relevant system insert).
- Fit the cover with design frame on the system insert.
- Switch on mains voltage.
All display icons are briefly activated and the device must be commissioned (commissioning).
If Err appears in the display, the cover was previously connected to another system insert. To enable operation again, perform one of the following steps:
