Circuit installation

  • Install the components in order from short to tall, first install the shorter components such as resistors, then install the taller components. After each part of the components is installed, cut off the pins of the components before installing the next part of the components.
  • Photocells, thermistors, resistors, oscillators, and ceramic capacitors do not have positive or negative terminals. When installing photocells and thermistors, leave a height of 1cm and then bend them.
  • The buzzer has positive and negative poles. Install the buzzer with the + symbol facing the + symbol on the circuitboard.
  • For integrated circuits, install the socket first. After all components are installed, insert the integrated circuit into the socket, aligning the notch position of the integrated circuit with the notch mark position on the circuit board.
  • When installing transistors, install them according to their shape.
  • Install tactile switches, power sockets, and battery contacts according to their shape.
  • After all components are installed, double-check for installation errors and check for soldering issues such as missed, loose, or shorted joints.
  • Before installing the digital tubes on the circuit board, first solder the pins to the digital tubes.
  • After verifying that the circuit is working properly, place it into the casing and secure the casing with screws.

About faults

If there is a malfunction, please first check whether the component is installed incorrectly, whether there are missing solder joints, cold solder joints, or short circuits. The power supply cannot exceed 5V, otherwise the chip will burn out. Please note that acidic flux cannot be used for welding, otherwise it will not work properly. Please use rosin flux. The digital tube contains a driver IC, and it cannot display directly when powered on. It needs to receive the complete signal from the control board to display normally, so the pin header must be well soldered and not cold soldered. If it still doesn’t work properly, check whether it has been reset, whether the DS1302, crystal oscillator, and 22p capacitor are installed incorrectly or have cold solder joints.
