Ophy Friendship Bracelet Making Kit
GET READY!
Get familiar with your Friendship Wheel first!
OVERVIEW
You can make a bracelet using the colors shown on the wheel or create your own
color combinations.
Simply use the colors on the wheel as a guide. For example, the wheel shown
here has yellow hearts on a red background. To make bule hearts on a pink
background just put bule string where you see yellow petals and put pink
string where you see red petals.
GET SET!
Now that you know how the wheel works, let’s set it up with string!
Start with the heart pattern. Look at the pattern ring and count how many
colors it use. The heart pattern uses tow colors.
Cut a 20″length of string(2 lengths of the ruler on the right)for each notch
in the petals on the wheel in the corresponding color. For example, for the
heart design cut 10 red strings that are 20″long and 6 yellow strings that are
20″long.
- Line up the ends of all the strings and tie them in a knot.
- Divide the strings in half and put them around a pencil.
- Take all of the strings together and tie them in a knot close to the pencil.
- Slip the loop you just made off the pencil. This loop will hold the bracelet on your wrist!
INSTRUCTION
Place the loop in the center of the wheel. Now pull out each strand and hook it into the notch of the matching colored petal.
You’ve just strung your wheel!
GO!
To create your bracelet you will need to unhook one strand at a time and
rehook it in another notch.
Every pattern works the same way!
‘ ‘
- Find the start arrow and rotate it to the top of the wheel.
- Unhook the string from the right notch …and rehook it into the notch to the right of the petal directly below the top one.
- Notice that you skipped three petals to get to the bottom petal!
- See how the strings create a group of three?
- Unhook the string on the left of the group and rehook it up to the notch on the left of the single string.
Rotate your wheel counter-clockwise so that the next petal is at the top.
Repeat steps 1-5 and watch your bracelet grow like magic!
TIPS AND TRICKS
Stringing Tip: Remember:
When taking the string from the top:take from the right and replace to the
right!
When taking the string from the bottom:take from the left and replace to the
left!
Holding Tip: To keep track of your pleace while you are hooking, hold the wheel with your thumb to the left of the strings you are working with!
Break Time: If you take a break before your bracelet is done, place the end of the string into the notch where you will t when you return!
Untangle the loose strings often!Comb them straight with your fingers.
FINISH! When your bracelet is long enough, unhook all of the strings from
the notches.Smooth the strands in the same direction making sure they are not
tangled together and double knot.
Trim the ends of the string in a neat tassel and trim the strings close to the
loop on the other side.
Pass the knot through the loop to wear your bracelet!
