Installation Instructions

Select Thermostat Location

  1. Locate the thermostat about 5 ft. above the floor.
  2. Install the thermostat on a partitioning wall, not on an outside wall.
  3. Never expose thermostats to direct light from lamps, sun, fireplaces or any temperature-radiating equipment.
  4. Avoid locations close to windows, adjoining outside walls, or doors that lead outside.
  5. Avoid locations close to air registers or in the direct path of air from them.
  6. Make sure there are no pipes or ductwork in that part of the wall chosen for the thermostat location.
  7. Never locate the thermostat in a room that is warmer or cooler than the rest of the home, such as the kitchen.
  8. Avoid locations with poor air circulation, such as behind doors or in closets.

Install Thermostat

Do not move the Heat/Off/Cool switch until the LCD stops flashing. Install the thermostat following the wiring diagram provided by the equipment manufacturer. All wiring must adhere to local and national electrical codes and ordinances.

Note

This typical wiring diagram (Figure 1) shows only the terminal identification and wiring hookup. Always refer to wiring instructions provided by the equipment manufacturer for system hookup operation.

FAQ

  • Q: Can the thermostat handle both heating and cooling functions?
  • A: Yes, the thermostat can be wired to cycle both the fan and valve for heating and cooling purposes.
  • Q: What should I do if I’m unsure about my wiring type?
  • A: If unsure about your wiring type, it is recommended to have it inspected by a qualified heating and air conditioning contractor or electrician.
  • Q: How should I handle the thermostat to prevent malfunction?
  • A: The thermostat is a precision instrument and should be handled carefully to avoid rough handling or distorting components that could lead to malfunction.

Operator: Save these instructions for future use!
FAILURE TO READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING OR OPERATING THIS CONTROL COULD CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.

DESCRIPTION

The 1H11G thermostat controls line voltage valves and/or blower motors on fan coil units in heating/cooling systems. It features a system switch for manual selection of heat-off-cool, a three-speed manual fan switch, and an adjustable temperature range of 5° to 35°C.
The terminal block is provided for connection to field wiring. The thermostat can be wired to perform the following functions:

  • The thermostat cycles both the fan and valve.
  • Thermostat cycles fan only.
  • Thermostat cycles valve only.

PRECAUTIONS

  • If in doubt about whether your wiring is millivolt, line, or low voltage, have it inspected by a qualified heating and air conditioning contractor, electrician, or someone familiar with basic electricity and wiring.
  • Do not exceed the specification ratings.
  • All wiring must conform to local and national electrical codes and ordinances.
  • This control is a precision instrument and should be handled carefully. Rough handling or distorting components could cause the control to malfunction.

CAUTION
To prevent electrical shock and/or equipment damage, disconnect electric power to the system at the main fuse or circuit breaker box until installation is complete.

WARNING
Do not use on circuits exceeding specified voltage.
Higher voltage will damage control and could cause shock or fire hazards.

When the thermostat is set below 5°C, damage to the building and/or contents may result due to freezing. This is possible due to factory calibration tolerances, thermostat location and operating characteristics of the heating equipment.

INSTALLATION

SELECT THERMOSTAT LOCATION

Proper location ensures that the thermostat will provide a comfortable home temperature. Observe the following general rules when selecting a location:

  1. Locate the thermostat about 5 ft. above the floor.
  2. Install the thermostat on a partitioning wall, not on an outside wall.
  3. Never expose the thermostat to direct light from lamps, sun, fireplaces or any temperature-radiating equipment.
  4. Avoid locations close to windows, adjoining outside walls, or doors that lead outside.
  5. Avoid locations close to air registers or in the direct path of air from them.
  6. Make sure there are no pipes or ductwork in that part of the wall chosen for the thermostat location.
  7. Never locate a thermostat in a room that is warmer or cooler than the rest of the home, such as the kitchen.
  8. Avoid locations with poor air circulation, such as behind doors or in closets.

INSTALL THERMOSTAT
Do not move the Heat/Off/Cool switch until the LCD stops flashing.
Install the thermostat as follows:

CAUTION
To prevent electrical shock and/or equipment damage, disconnect electric power to the system at the main fuse or circuit breaker box until installation is complete.

  1. Remove the thermostat cover by pressing the screwdriver into the slot on top of the thermostat. Remove the front cover with your hand, holding both sides of the cover.
  2. Remove the screw attaching the terminal block cover and remove the cover.
  3. Mount the base with the wire through the holes of the base and tighten the base with screws on the wall.
  4. Install the wires into the terminal block. To secure wires, tighten the screws on top of the terminal block. Before you install the wires, you must check your system wiring diagram (see figure 1). If your system is other than this type, check with your local dealer or consult with a professional electrician.
  5. Put the front cover back on the base and make sure that the hooks on the base are locked with the front cover.
  6. Turn on the main power switch for operation.

NOTE

  • This typical wiring diagram (Figure 1) shows only the terminal identification and wiring hookup. Always refer to wiring instructions, provided by the equipment manufacturer, for system hookup operation.
  • All wiring should be done according to local and national electrical codes and ordinances.
