How to Season a Carbon Steel Griddle?
Seasoning is basically oiling and heating a grill or griddle. Just a sponge,
paper towels and cooking oil. Here’s how to season your new flat top plate in
more detail:
Step 1: Cleaning and Dry
Clean the new griddle with a sponge or soft brush through warm water and
detergent to remove dirt and then allow it to dry thoroughly.
Step 2. Applying Oil
Use a high-temperature oil, such as vegetable or canola oil. Only a small
amount of oil is needed, but make sure it is evenly coated
Step 3: Cook the Oil
The final step in seasoning is to burn the oil. Heat a griddle over medium
heat on the grill until the oil comes to a boil.(Depending on the type of
griddle, the time to cook the oil will vary)
Step 4: Cool Off
Remove the griddle and let it cool completely and dry out before, wipe away
any excess oil with a towel, and the griddle is ready to use!
