Product Usage Instructions

Installation

1. Ensure all connections are per National Electrical Code and local regulations.
2. Do not use the product outdoors.
3. Avoid mounting near gas or electric heaters.
4. Mount the equipment in locations and at heights where it will not be tampered with by unauthorized personnel.
5. Use only accessory equipment recommended by the manufacturer to prevent unsafe conditions.
6. Do not use the equipment for purposes other than its intended use.
7. Installation and servicing should be performed by qualified personnel.

Connectivity

The product features SmartNet ports for RJ45 connections and 0-10V wires for easy connectivity.

Manual override button functions:

• Press and release: Toggle relay on/off
• Press and hold: Communication check (solid blue status LED
  indicates communication present with RM)

Mounting

The product is designed to be mounted in a standard 4 square electrical box (not included). A 1-1/2 extension ring is provided with the Smart Emergency Shunt Dimmer and must be installed for  warranty coverage.

LED Indications

The LED color blinking indicates different statuses:

• Green: Relay is closed with line voltage
• Blinking Green Cyan: Relay is closed with no line voltage
• Blinking Cyan: Relay is open with line voltage
• Cyan: Relay is open with no line voltage

FAQ

How long can the total SmartNet length be?

The total SmartNet length should not exceed 400 feet, and CAT 5 cables are recommended for connectivity.

TESTING / MAINTENANCE

TESTING

• ENSURE ROOM MANAGER IS POWERED BY NORMAL POWER SOURCE
• ENSURE SMART EMERGENCY SHUNT DIMMER MODULE IS CONNECTED TO EMERGENCY POWER SOURCE
• NORMAL OPERATION
• TURN LIGHTS TO FULL BRIGHT
• EMERGENCY AND NORMAL LIGHTS (IF APPLICABLE) WILL TURN ON FULL BRIGHT
• REDUCE LIGHT LEVEL TO 50%
• EMERGENCY AND NORMAL LIGHTS (IF APPLICABLE) WILL DIM TO 50%
• TURN LIGHTS OFF
• EMERGENCY AND NORMAL LIGHTS (IF APPLICABLE) WILL TURN OFF
• MERGENCY OPERATION
• WHEN NORMAL POWER IS LOST TO ROOM MANAGER, THE SMART EMERGENCY SHUNT DIMMER MODULE WILL AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE THE POWER RELAY AND
• OPEN THE 0-10V SIGNAL RELAY TURNING THE LIGHTS ON AND TO FULL BRIGHTNESS.
• EMERGENCY OPEATION TESTS
• TEST #1 – TURN OFF NORMAL POWER TO ROOM MANAGER
• TEST #2 – DISCONNECT SMART NET CABLING TO SMART EMERGENCY SHUNT DIMMER MODULE

MAINTENANCE

• NO MAINTENANCE IS REQUIRED FOR SMART EMERGENCY SHUNT DIMMER MODULES
• EMERGENCY OPERATION SHOULD BE TESTED IF LIGHT FIXTURES ARE REPLACED
