Original Yorkshire Grit
Recommended for wood.

Microfine Yorkshire Grit

Product Usage Instructions

Recommended Instructions For Use

  1. Sand the wood to at least 240 grit, ensuring all tool marks and radial marks from previous sanding grits are removed. Sanding above 400 grit is not necessary.
  2. Apply your preferred sanding sealer and allow it to cure according to the directions provided with the sealer.
  3. With the lathe turned off, use a paper towel to apply a small amount of paste onto the workpiece. Work the paste into the grain until uniform coverage is achieved.
  4. Start the lathe at a slow speed (approximately 500 rpm or less). Using the same applicator towel, work the paste into the wood for a minute or two. The paste acts as liquid sandpaper, and you will feel it cutting in as such. It will continue to process through at an increasingly finer mesh as you work it in.
  5. Once you are satisfied with the level of sanding finish, use a clean paper towel and move across the workpiece with moderate pressure while increasing the lathe rpm until no residue shows on the towel.
  6. For the final appearance and use, apply your favorite finish of choice.

Microfine Yorkshire Grit (For Resins / Hybrids / Wood)

Recommended Instructions For Use

  1. For best results, it is recommended to use Original Yorkshire Grit prior to Microfine Yorkshire Grit. If this is not possible, sand the surface to at least 600 grit, ensuring an even surface free of all tool marks and radial marks from the previous sanding
    grits.

  2. If you are using Microfine Yorkshire Grit directly after dry sanding (not using Original Yorkshire Grit first), apply a thin sanding sealer and allow it to cure and de-nib according to the directions provided with the sealer.

  3. With the lathe turned off, use a paper towel to apply a small amount of paste onto the workpiece. Work the paste into the grain until uniform coverage is achieved.

  4. Start the lathe at a slow speed (approximately 500 rpm or less). Using the same applicator towel, work the paste into the workpiece for a minute or two. The paste acts as liquid sandpaper. Depending on the material being abraded, you may need to add additional paste on the applicator towel until the desired finish is achieved. Once you are satisfied with the level of sanding finish, use a clean paper towel and move across the workpiece with moderate pressure while increasing the lathe rpm until no residue shows on the towel.

  5. For resin and hybrid pieces aiming for a glass-clear finish, you are now ready for buffing. For wood pieces, apply your favorite finish of choice for the final appearance and use. Ensure all The microfine residue is removed before using any lacquer-based finishes.
