Keep the operating manual package with the power tool at all times and store it in a plastic cover to protect it from dirt and moisture. They must be read and carefully observed by all operating personnel before starting the work.
The product may only be used by personnel who have been trained to use it and who have been instructed with respect to the associated hazards.

In addition to the safety instructions in this operating manual and the separate regulations of your country, the generally recognised technical rules relating to the operation of such products must also be observed. Proper Use

  • The machine has been built according to the latest state-of-the-art and the technical safety requirements. Nevertheless, its use may cause danger to the life and limb of the user or third parties, or damage to the machine and other material assets.
  • Only use the machine when in a technically faultless condition, appropriately and in compliance with the operating manual and with full knowledge of safety and hazards! In particular, rectify malfunctions that could impair safety immediately (or commission rectification works accordingly)!
  • The sweeper is only intended for sweeping flat and dry surfaces such as driveways, terraces, yards, etc.
  • The machine may only be operated with original parts and original accessories from the manufacturer.
  • The product may only be used in the intended manner.
  • Any use beyond this is improper use. The manufacturer is not responsible for the resulting damages; the user solely bears the risk.
  • An element of the intended use is also the observance of the safety instructions, as well as the assembly instructions and operating information in the operating manual.
  • The safety, operating and maintenance specifications of the manufacturer, as well as the dimensions specified in the technical data, must be observed.
  • Relevant accident prevention regulations and other generally recognized safety and technical rules must also be observed.
  • The machine may only be used, maintained or repaired by persons who are familiar with it and have been informed of the dangers. Any liability of the manufacturer for damages resulting from arbitrary changes to the machine is excluded.
  • The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by an improper use or incorrect operation of this device.

Please note that our equipment was not designed with the intention of use for commercial or industrial purposes. We assume no guarantee if the device is used in commercial or industrial applications, or for equivalent work.

Safety Instructions

General safety instructions

This device can cause serious injuries in the event of misuse. Before working with the device, read the operating manual carefully and familiarise yourself with all control parts. Store this manual in a safe place so that the information is available at any time.

Working with the device:

Caution!

The device can cause serious injuries. It will help you avoid accidents and injuries:

Preparation:

  • The device is not suitable for use by children.
  • Never allow children or other persons who do not know the operating manual to use the device. Local provisions can determine the minimum age of the operator.
  • This device is not designed to be operated by persons (including children) with impaired physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or who have insufficient experience and/or insufficient knowledge unless they are being supervised by a person who is responsible for their safety or they are receiving instruction about how this device is to be used.
  • Never use the device when persons and especially if children or pets are nearby.
  • Check the area in which the device is to be used and remove any stones, sticks, wires, or other foreign objects that could be caught and ejected. Do not use the device to level uneven ground.
  • Always wear suitable work clothing such as sturdy shoes with non-slip soles, sturdy long trousers, ear protection and safety goggles. Do not use the device if barefoot or wearing open sandals.
  • Do not work with a damaged, incomplete or modified device without the manufacturer’s consent. Do not work with damaged or missing protective devices (e.g. start lever, release button, impact protection).
  • Never override protective devices (e.g. by tying the take-off lever).
  • Children should not be left unattended, to ensure they do not play with the device.
  • Before starting your device, ensure that no object or branch is pushed into the blade opening, that the device is stable and that the work area is tidy and not blocked. Check the condition of your extension cable and the connection lead of your device. Use the required protective devices.
  • If your device exhibits unusual vibrations or noises when you switch it on, unplug the mains plug from the socket and check the cutting roller. Ensure that no chippings are blocking the cutting roller or are trapped between the blades. If you do not determine any problems, return the device to a service centre.
  • If the blades no longer cut correctly or if the motor is overloaded, check all parts of your device and replace the worn parts. If a more extensive repair is necessary, contact a service centre.

Use:

  • Caution – Sharp tool. Do not cut your fingers or toes. Always keep feet and fingers away from the roller and the ejection opening when working. There is a danger of injury!
  • Do not use the device in the rain, in bad weather, in damp surroundings or wet grass. Only work in daylight or with good lighting. Do not work with the device when you are tired or are unfocused or after taking alcohol or tablets. Always take breaks from work in good time. Remain sensible when working.
  • Familiarise yourself with your environment and pay attention to possible hazards that you may not hear due to the noise from the motor.
  • Ensure you have secure footing when working, particularly on slopes. Always work across a slope, never upwards or downwards. Take particular care when changing direction on a slope. Do not work on excessively steep slopes.
  • Only guide the device at walking pace and with both hands on the handle. Take particular care when reversing the device or pulling it towards you. Risk of tripping!
  • Start or operate the start lever with care according to the instructions in this manual.
  • Do not tilt the device when starting it unless it needs to be lifted. In this case, only tilt the device as far as absolutely required and only lift the side away from the operator.
  • When the device is placed back on the ground after being lifted, both hands must be in the working position.
  • Do not operate the device without the collection bag fully attached or without impact protection. Danger of injury! Always keep clear of the ejection opening.
  • Do not use the device in the vicinity of flammable fluids or gases. There is a risk of fire or explosion if disregarded

Work interruption:

  • After switching off the device, the roller still turns for a few seconds. Keep hands and feet away.
  • Do not touch the tines until the device is disconnected from the mains and the tines have come to a complete stop.
  • Only remove plant parts when the device is at a standstill. Always keep the grass ejection opening clean and clear.
  • Switch off the device when transporting, lifting or tipping it and when crossing surfaces other than grass.
  • Never leave the device unattended at the workplace.
  • Switch the device off and pull out the mains plug:
    • Whenever you leave the machine,
    • before cleaning the ejection opening or removing blockages or obstructions,
    • when the device is not being used,
    • during all maintenance and cleaning work,
    • if the mains cable is damaged or tangled,
    • if the device encounters an obstacle while working or if unusual vibrations occur. In this case, investigate the device for damage and have it repaired if necessary.
  • Store the device in a dry place and out of reach of children.

Caution!

In this way you avoid damage to the device and any personal injury resulting from it:

Maintain your device

  • Switch off and lift the device when transporting it up and down stairs.
  • Always carry out a visual inspection of the unit before use. Do not use the device if safety devices (e.g. impact protection), parts of the sweep or bolts are missing, worn or damaged. Check especially the mains cable and the starting lever for damage. To prevent an imbalance, damaged tools and bolts may only be replaced in sets.
  • Only use spare or accessory parts which are supplied or recommended by the manufacturer. Using third-party parts leads to a loss of guarantee claims.
  • Make sure that all nuts, bolts and screws are securely tightened so that the device is in a safe working condition.
  • Do not try to repair the device yourself unless you have been trained to do so. All work that is not specified in this manual may only be carried out by customer service centres authorised by us.
  • Handle your device with care. Keep tools clean in order to be able to work better and more safely. Follow the maintenance instructions.
  • Do not overload your device. Only work in the specified power range. Do not use low-output machines for heavy work. Do not use your device for purposes for which it is not intended.

Electrical safety:

Caution! To avoid accidents and injuries due to electric shock:

  • Before each use, visually inspect the mains and extension cables for signs of damage or ageing.

  • Keep the mains cable away from the sweeping tools.
    If the lead is damaged during use, disconnect it from the mains immediately.
    Do not touch the lead until it is disconnected from the mains.

  • Keep the extension leads away from the tines. The tines can damage the leads and lead to contact with active parts.

  • Do not connect a damaged lead to the mains and do not touch a damaged lead until it is disconnected from the mains. A damaged lead can lead to contact with active parts.

  • Ensure that the mains voltage corresponds to the specifications on the type plate.

  • If possible, only connect the device to a socket outlet with a residual current protective device (RCD) with a tripping current of no more than 30 mA.

  • Avoid body contact with earthed parts (e.g. metal fences, metal posts).

  • Only use approved extension cables of the type H05VV-F or H05RN-F, which are no longer than 75 m and are intended for outdoor use. The conductor core cross-section of the extension cable must be at least 2.5 mm2. Always unroll a cable drum completely before use. Check the cable for damage.

  • Use the intended cable strain relief for attaching the extension cable.

  • Do not use the cable to pull the plug out of the outlet. Protect the cable from heat, oil and sharp edges.

  • Switch off the device and disconnect the mains plug from the socket if the connection lead is damaged. If the connection cable of this unit is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or their service department or a similar qualified person in order to avoid hazards.

  • If the connection lead is damaged, first unplug the extension cable from the socket. You can then remove the connection lead of the device.

  • If the connection cable is damaged then it must be replaced by the manufacturer or their customer services personnel or by a similarly qualified person, in order to avoid hazards.

Residual Risks

Even when this power tool is operated properly, residual risks still remain. The following hazards may arise in connection with the design and construction of this power tool:

  1. Hearing damage if suitable hearing protection is not worn.
  2. Damage to health resulting from hand/arm vibration if the device is used over an extended period of time or if it is not properly operated and maintained.
  3. Health hazard due to electrical power, with the use of improper electrical connection cables.
  4. Furthermore, despite all precautions having been met, some non-obvious residual risks may still remain.
  5. Residual risks can be minimised if the “Safety Instructions” and the “Intended Use” together with the operating manual as a whole are observed.
  6. Avoid accidental starting of the product: the operating button may not be pressed when inserting the plug in a socket. Use the tool attachment that is recommended in this operating manual. This is how to ensure that your product provides optimum performance.
  7. Keep your hands away from the working area when the product is in operation.

Caution! This device generates an electromagnetic field during operation. This field can impair active or passive medical implants under certain circumstances. In order to prevent the danger of serious or deadly injuries, we recommend that persons with medical implants consult with their physician and the manufacturer of the medical implant prior to operating the device.

Keep the noise level and vibration to a minimum!

  • Only use faultless devices.
  • Maintain and clean the device at regular intervals.
  • Adapt your working methods to the device.
  • Do not overload the device.
  • Have the device checked if necessary.
  • Switch the device off if it is not in use.
  • Wear gloves.

Unpacking

  • Open the packaging and carefully remove the product.
  • Remove the packaging material, as well as the packaging and transport safety devices (if present).
  • Check whether the scope of delivery is complete.
  • Check the product and accessory parts for transport damage. In the event of complaints the carrier must be informed immediately. Later claims will not be recognised.
  • If possible, keep the packaging until the expiry of the warranty period.
  • Familiarise yourself with the product by means of the operating manual before using for the first time.
  • With accessories as well as wearing parts and replacement parts use only original parts. Spare parts can be obtained from your specialist dealer.
  • When ordering please provide our article number as well as type and year of manufacture for the product.

WARNING!

The product and the packaging material are not children‘s toys! Do not let children play with plastic bags, films or small parts! There is a danger of choking or suffocating!

Before Commissioning

Before connecting the machine, make certain that the data on the type plate matches with the mains power data.

Warning!

Always pull out the mains plug before carrying out adjustments on the device.
The sweeper is disassembled on delivery. The catch basket and the complete push bar must be fitted before using the sweeper. Follow the instruction manual step by step and use the figures as a guide to make assembly easy for you.

Installing the push bar (Fig. 3 – 6)

  • Insert the lower push bar (8) into the holes provided and fasten the screws using a screwdriver (not included in the scope of delivery).
  • Secure the middle guide bar (6) using the clamping screws (5).
  • Slide the cable strain relief (B) onto the upper push bar (3).
  • Attach the upper push bar (3) to the middle guide bars (6).
  • Use the tensioning screw (5) and the fastening screw (5a) to fasten the push bars (3) and the guide bars (6).
  • Fix the switch cable with the cable clamp (C) to the push bars (3, 8 ) and the middle guide bars (6). (Fig. 8)

Installing the catch basket (Fig. 7)

  • Hang the catch basket (7) into the device. To do this, lift the discharge flap (9) and hang the catch basket (7) into the appropriate bracket on the device.

Setting the working depth (Fig. 8)

The working depth is set with the working height adjustment (10) on the two front wheels. To do this, pull the working height adjustment (10) slightly upwards and bring it into the desired position. Then snap it into the desired position.

Changing the brush (Fig. 9, 10)

ATTENTION!

Be sure to wear gloves!
Remove the Allen screws and lift the roller on this end.
Pull the roller in the direction of the arrow, out of the drive square. Slide the new roller in the direction of the arrow back into the drive square and then press it into the bracket. Use the Allen screws to fasten the roller back onto the housing.

Operation

To prevent the sweeper from being switched on unintentionally, the switch lever (Fig. 1 / Pos. 1) is equipped with a two-point switch (Fig. 1 / Pos. 2), which must be pressed before the switch lever (Fig. 1 / Pos. 1) can be pressed. When the gear lever is released, the sweeper switches off.
Perform this procedure a few times to be sure that your device is working correctly.
Before carrying out any repair or maintenance work on the device, make sure that the brush does not turn and that the device is disconnected from the mains.

Danger!

Never open the discharge flap when the motor is still running. The rotating brush may lead to injuries. Always carefully close the discharge flap. It is folded back into the “closed” position by the tension spring!

Danger! Before removing the catch basket (7), switch off the engine and wait for the brush to come to a standstill!

In order to unhook the catch basket (7), lift the discharge flap (9) using one hand and remove the catch basket (7) with the other hand!

Electrical Connection

The electrical motor installed is connected and ready for operation. The connection complies with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions. The customer‘s mains connection as well as the extension cable used must also comply with these regulations.

Important information

In the event of overloading, the motor will switch itself off. After a cool- down period (time varies) the motor can be switched back on again.

Damaged electrical connection cable

The insulation on electrical connection cables is often damaged.

This may have the following causes:

  • Pressure points, where connection cables are passed through windows or doors.
  • Kinks where the connection cable has been improperly fastened or routed.
  • Places where the connection cables have been cut due to being driven over.
  • Insulation damage due to being ripped out of the wall outlet.
  • Cracks due to the insulation ageing.

Such damaged electrical connection cables must not be used and are life- threatening due to the insulation damage.
Check the electrical connection cables for damage regularly. Ensure that the connection cables are disconnected from electrical power when checking for damage.
Electrical connection cables must comply with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions. Only use connection cables of the same designation.
The printing of the type designation on the connection cable is mandatory.

If the mains connection cable of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by a special connection cable which can be obtained from the manufacturer or its service department.

AC motor:

The mains voltage must be 220 – 240 V~.

  • Extension cables up to 25 m long must have a cross-section of 1.5 mm².

Connections and repair work on the electrical equipment may only be carried out by electricians.

Connection type X

If the mains connection cable of this product is damaged, it must be replaced by a specially prepared mains connection cable which can be obtained from the manufacturer or its service department.
Please provide the following information in the event of any enquiries:

  • Type of current for the motor
  • Engine data – type plate

Cleaning And Maintenance

Danger! Disconnect the mains plug before carrying out any cleaning work.

Cleaning

  • Keep protective devices, air vents and the motor housing as free of dust and dirt as possible. Rub the device clean with a clean cloth or blow it off with compressed air at low pressure.
  • We recommend that you clean the device directly after every use.
  • Clean the device at regular intervals using a damp cloth and a little soft soap. Do not use any cleaning products or solvents; they could attack the plastic parts of the device. Make sure that no water can penetrate the device interior. Water penetrating an electric device increases the risk of an electric shock.

Carbon brushes

If excessive sparks are generated, have an electrician check the carbon brushes.

Danger! The carbon brushes must only be replaced by an electrician.

Maintenance

  • A worn or damaged cutting roller should be replaced by an authorised specialist.
  • Ensure that all fastening elements (bolts, nuts, etc.) are always tightened so that it is safe to work with the sweeper.
  • Store your sweeper in a dry space.
  • All screwed parts as well as the wheels and axles should be cleaned and then oiled to ensure a long service life.
  • Regular maintenance of the sweeper will not only ensure its durability and performance, but will also help to scarify your lawn carefully and easily.
  • Perform a general check of the sweeper at the end of the season and remove all accumulated debris. Always check the condition of the sweeper prior to the start of the season. Contact our customer service centre for repairs.

With this product, it is necessary to note that the following parts are subject to natural or usage-related wear, or that the following parts are required as consumables.

Storage

Store the product and its accessories in a dark, dry and frost-free place that is inaccessible to children.
The optimum storage temperature lies between 5 and 30 ˚C.
Store the product in its original packaging. Cover the product to protect it from dust or moisture. Store the operating manual with the product.

Disposal And Recycling

Notes for packaging

The packaging materials are recyclable. Please dispose of packaging in an environmentally friendly manner.

Notes on the electrical and electronic equipment act [ElektroG]

Electrical and electronic appliances do not belong in household waste, but should be collected and disposed of separately.

  • Used batteries or rechargeable batteries that are not installed permanently in the old appliance must be removed non-destructively before disposal. Their disposal is regulated by the battery act.
  • Owners or users of electrical and electronic devices are legally obliged to return them after use.
  • The end user is responsible for deleting their personal data from the old device being disposed of!
  • The symbol of the crossed-out dustbin means that waste electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of with household waste.

Apparent defects must be notified within 8 days from the receipt of the goods. Otherwise, the buyerís rights of claim due to such defects are invalidated. We guarantee for our machines in case of proper treatment for the time of the statutory warranty period from delivery in such a way that we replace any machine part free of charge which provably becomes unusable due to faulty material or defects of fabrication within such period of time. With respect to parts not manufactured by us we only warrant insofar as we are entitled to warranty claims against the upstream suppliers. The costs for the installation of the new parts shall be borne by the buyer. The cancellation of sale or the reduction of purchase price as well as any other claims for damages shall be excluded.
