Instruction Manual

08575 Weather Station Alarm Clock

Introduction
The AcuRite® weather station/alarm clock features a patented weather forecast for your specific area, as well as barometric pressure and time & date displays. The weather station also displays the outdoor temperature and humidity, which it receives from the included battery powered wireless outdoor sensor.
The AcuRite® weather alert radio will receive encoded civil and weather emergency alert messages from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio broadcast towers. These broadcast stations are located all over North Amaerica. This weather alert radio uses Specific Area Message Encoding (S.A.M.E) to identify specific areas, like a county or localized area of a state. This technology limits the occurrence of “false alarms”, that is, alert messages that do not apply to your area.
When an official alert is received, the radio will automatically switch on and you will hear the tone and audio voice broadcast.
The alert type and message will scroll across the display. One of the color- coded LED’s will also illuminate- signifying which type of message has been received; “Advisory” is yellow, “Watch” is orange and “Warning” is red.
The Weather Alert Radio includes an AC power dock integrated into a weather station & alarm clock. The dock is the primary power source for the radio. In an emergency, you may need to take the radio with you to a safe area, the radio features a battery compartment for holding standard alkaline batteries (not included). This feature also provides backup power for the radio in the event of a power failure. Additionally it offers the convenience of taking the radio with you for outdoor activities.
Please read through this manual to learn more about this AcuRite® product. Keep this manual for future reference.

This will cause the outdoor wireless sensor to stop transmitting temperature readings. Use lithium batteries in these low temperature conditions to ensure continued operation for wireless sensors placed outdoors. A/B/C Wireless Selection
To allow for more than one weather station and wireless sensor network to be used in close rroximi , the display unit and the wireless sensor have a small switch labeled “A B C” within the battery compartments. This switch selects one of 3 wireless modes to use, and both switchs MUST be set in matching positions (either A, B, or C) fore wireless communication to take place successfully.

Installing Batteries – Wireless Sensor
Remove the battery compartment cover.
Install 2 fresh “AA batteries as shown here.
BATTERIES MUST BE INSTALLED FOR THE SENSOR TO OPERATE **** SET “ABC” SWITCH TO MATCH DISPLAY “ABC” SWITCH SELECTION

Now that setup is complete, fiou must choose a location to place the wireless sensor and the weather station. The wireless sensor MUST be placed less than 330 feet (100 meters) away from the weather station.
This product uses radio frequency for communication, which is susceptible to interference?rom other electronic devices and large metallic items or thick walls. Always place both units at least 3 feet (.91 m) away from appliances ( TV, microwave, radios, efc. ) or ob’*ects that may interfere with the wireless communication ( large metal surfaces, thick stone walls, etc. ). Placement of Weather Station
Place the weather station in a dry area free of dirt and dust on a table top or other flat surface. Keep the display unit/weutfier radio away from moisture. Choose a location at least 3 feet away from other electronics for best wireless operation and reception of the NOAA weather radio signal.
Placement of Sensor
The wireless sensor MUST BE PLACED OUTDOORS to observe outdoor temperatures. The wireless sensor must be placed less than 330 feet (100 meters) from the weather station. The wireless sensor is water resistant and is designed for general outdoor use. However, to extend the life of the product, place the wireless sensor in an area protected from direct weather elements. To ensure an accurate outdoor temperature measurement, be sure the wireless sensor is placed out of direct sunlight and away from any heat sources.
There are 2 placement options for the wireless sensor. You may hang it using one of the two integrated hun51 holes, or use string (not included) to hang it from a suitable location like a well covered tree branch.
