SymbolAlways wear ANSI approved safety goggles.

Assembling and Setting Up the Roof Mount Cargo Rack

  1. Refer to photo above of an already assembled Cargo Rack. Also see Assembly Diagram at end of this manual.

  2. Place all components on a flat, padded surface to prevent marring of the parts.
Identify the Front Rack Section (4), the Middle Rack Section L (2) and R (2), the Rear Rack Section (7).

  3. From the illustration below, note how the three sections are attached together.
Assembling and Setting Up the Roof Mount Cargo Rack

  4. Lubricate the inside of each Large and Small Protective Gasket (5 ). Use a quality grade grease (not included). Connect Middle Rack Section L (2) and Middle Rack Section R(2) together by using Middle Plate (11) Screws(1 O) with Nylon Nut(8).

  5. Slide the Protective Gaskets on each end of Middle Rack Section – large gaskets on upper rail; small gaskets on lower rail. Slide each gasket about 1-3/4″ from the edge of the rail.

  6. Insert end of Middle Rack Section into end of Front Rack Section (4). Line up the drill holes and secure the sections together using Screws (1) with Washers (6).

  7. Secure Middle Rack Section to Rear Rack Section (7) in same manner as described in paragraph 6 above.

  8. With all 3 sections secured together, slide al I 8 Protective Gaskets (5 ) back so that gaskets are against the Screws (1) as shown in illustration below.

  9. Attach Wind Screen (9) to Front Rack Section using four sets of Screw (1) and Washer (6).

  10. With assembly of the Roof Mount Cargo Rack complete, begin planning for the location of the Cargo Rack on the top of the vehicle. This Cargo Rack will attach to the cross bars of the vehicle’s roof rack by use of the four Mounting Brackets (13) with Plastic Spacers (14).

  11. The Mounting Brackets (13) with Plastic Spacers (14) should be set up in the widest position possible (towards the outer 4 corners of the Cargo Rack). This will vary depending on the vehicle and whether the vehicle’s roof rack cross bars are adjustable.
If vehicle’s roof rack cross bars are adjustable, they should be set in the widest position (farthest apart from each other) that will accommodate the attachment of the Cargo Rack; this positioning will make for better load distribution.
Center to center (Last page of the manual)
The distance between crossbars must be:
    a. Minimum 28-3/8″
    b. Maximum 49-5/8″

  12. Attaching Mounting Brackets {13) and Plastic Spacers (14 ): The first step is to secure the Plastic Spacers (11) to the underside of the Cargo Rack (in the desired position of each Mounting Bracket). Each Plastic Spacer will attach from the underside of the Cargo Rack; Plastic Spacers will snap into place.
Assembling and Setting Up the Roof Mount Cargo Rack

  13. Position the Cargo Rack on top of the vehicle’s roof rack cross bars. The Plastic Spacers should rest evenly on each cross bar (and in the position described in Paragraph 12 -below left).

  14. Attach the Mounting Brackets (13) to the Cargo Rack using LI-Bolt ( 15) and Knobs (12). Hand tighten each Knob for now. – see photo below left.

  15. With all Mounting Brackets (13) now in place, double check the position of the Cargo Rack. Make sure all Plastic Spacers (14) are properly aligned on top of the vehicle’s roof rack cross bars. Make minor adjustments if needed. Now, evenly and firmly tighten all Knobs (12) to secure the Cargo Rack in place.
Symbol A minimum of 1/2″ of threads on each U-Bolt (15) must be engaged with each Knob (12). Less than 1/2″ thread engagement may result in Knobs loosening, resulting in possible damage to cargo, vehicle and Cargo Rack, and possible personal injury.

  16. Push on a Protective Cap (3) to the top of each Knob (12).

  17. Before first use of this product, check to make sure the vehicle’s roof rack cross bars are securely in place. Check all screws and knobs to make sure the Cargo Rack is tightly secured in place. Check straps and ropes used to tie down cargo in the rack.
Check that the operation of the vehicle’s rear hatch door does not interfere with the Cargo Rack. If vehicle has a sun roof, make sure it’s operation is not affected by the Cargo Rack.

Using the Roof Mount Cargo Rack

  1. Symbol Make sure the vehicle is in a safe place for loading the Cargo Rack. Make sure the vehicle’s engine is OFF, with parking brake set, before loading or unloading the Cargo Rack.
  2. Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 150 Lbs. Evenly distribute the load on the Roof Mount Cargo Rack.
  3. Before each use, check for tightness of all hardware and knobs. Frequently check the condition of the Cargo Rack. Make sure all components are in good condition. If the Cargo Rack becomes damaged through accident, or if any damage is noted, the product should be replaced.
