UNPACKING
The shipment should be thoroughly inspected as soon as it is received. The
signed “bill of lad- ing” is acknowledgement by the carrier of receipt in good
condition of shipment covered by our invoice. For your own protection, if any
of the goods called for on the bill of lading are shorted or damaged, do not
accept them until the carrier makes a notation on the freight bill of the
shorted or damaged goods.
Notify MAXXHAUL immediately if any hidden loss or damage is discovered after
receipt.

Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in serious injury or death. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

Personal and Work Area Safety
A. Always wear ANSI approved safety goggles.
B. Always wear hearing protec- tion when working in noisy environments. Prolonged exposure to high intensity noise can cause hearing loss.
C. Use safety equipment. Safety shoes, hard hat and work gloves must be used for applicable condi- tions.
D. Dress appropriately. Never wear loose fitting clothing or jewelry when working. Contain long hair, and keep hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts.
E. Use common sense when working. Stay alert and concentrate when setting up and using either the Umbrella Holder or the Flagpole Holder. Never work while under he influence of alcohol, drugs or medications.

F. While setting up and using this product keep work area clean and well lighted. Keep spectators and children out of the work area. -
Use of the Flagpole Holder and the Umbrella Holder
A. Both products fit into a 2” x 2” Class Ill or Class IV hitch receiver. The
hitch re- ceiver must be properly installed by a quali- fied service
technician
B. The Flagpole Holder is designed to hold a flagpole having a flagpole
diameter of between 1-3/8” to 2”.
Note: If flagpole diameter is greater than 1-1/2”, a top and bottom
bushing must be removed.
The Flagpole Holder is designed to securely hold an average size flag (no
larger than 5’ Width x 3’ Height, with a flagpole no longer than 6’). Over-
sized flags should not be used with the Flagpole Holder. With a flag attached
to the Flagpole Hold- er, the vehicle is not to be driven at high- way speed.
When the flag is done being displayed, it hould be removed from the Flag
Holder and the Flag Holder should be removed from the vehicle’s receiver
hitch.
C. The Umbrella Holder is designed to hold an umbrella while the vehicle is
parked. The vehicle should be located in a safe loca- tion, away from traffic
and other disruptions. Never operate the vehicle with an open, or closed
umbrella attached to the Umbrella Holder.
When the umbrella is no longer being used, it should be removed from the
Umbrella Holder and the Umbrella Holder should be removed from the vehicle’s
receiver hitch.
D. Never modify these products and never attempt to use them for a purpose
that they were not designed for.
E. Adhere to all Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) requirements. Adhere to
all State Department of Motor Vehicle regulations when using these products.
Keep in mind that the warnings previously discussed cannot cover all possible
conditions or situations that could occur.
It is important that the person setting up and using both the Flagpole Holder
and the Umbrella Holder understand that common sense and caution are factors
which cannot be built into these products, and must be supplied by the
person(s) using this product.
MAXXHAUL is not responsible for the attachment or the installation of these
products or the vehicle’s receiver hitch.
The attachment of these products is critical and beyond the control of
MAXXHAUL. It neither guarantees, nor will it be liable for any damage
resulting from the attachment or improper use of either the Flagpole Holder or
the Umbrella Holder.
Limited Warranty
MAXXHAUL warrants to the original retail purchaser that the product is free of
defects in material and workmanship at the time of shipment. Each of these
products are warranteed for 90 days from the date of purchase.
This warranty is expressly in lieu of all other warranties, express or
implied.
Proof of purchase is required for warranty transactions; a copy of the
original invoice or sales receipt is required.
Setting Up the Flagpole Holder

Refer to photo and illustration below and to the Assembly Diagram and Parts List at the end of this manual.

Always wear ANSI approved safety goggles when setting up this product, and when working with tools and equipment.

Make sure the vehicle’s engine is OFF with parking brake set, before attempting to set-up the Flagpole Holder. Make sure ve- hicle is in a safe, level location, away from ehicle trafffic when setting up this product.

Slide end of tube into end of vehicle’s receiver hitch. Align the desired mounting hole of Flagpole Holder with hole in vehicle’s receiver hitch. Secure FlagpoleHolder with Hitch Pin (2) and fully engaged Clip (1).

The Flagpole Holder includes a Top and Bottom Reducer Bushing (4,7) designed for a flagpole with 1-1/2” diameter, or smaller.

If flagpole diameter is greater than 1-1/2”, both Top and Bottom Reducer Bushings will have to be removed. To remove bushings, unscrew each Knob Screw (5), and remove Top and Bottom Reducer Bushings.
Note: Not every diameter flagpole shaft will fit this Holder; additional adapters (not included) may be required. A qualified ser- vice technician can assist in making custom adapters from plastic tubing/piping, if needed. -
Attach the Latch Pin (6) to the bottom hole and lock the safety wire in place -see photo to left.

Place the flagpole into the vertical tube of the Flagpole Holder so that flagpole rests up against the Latch Pin.

Tighten the 2 Knob Screws (5) to lock the flagpole in place. When in transit, stop frequently to check the condition of the flag; make sure it remains securely attached to the Flagpole Holder. When flag is in Flag- pole Holder, vehicle is not to be driven at hightway speed.
Setting Up the Umbrella Holder

Make sure the vehicle’s engine is OFF with parking brake set, before attempting to set-up the Umbrella Holder. Make sure vehicle is in a safe, level location, away from vehicle trafffic when setting up this product.

Slide Umbrella Holder (3) into Hitch Bar (6), and secure with Screws/Washers (8,7).
Slide other end of Hitch Bar (6) into the vehicle’s receiver hitch. Align mounting hole of Hitch Bar (6) with hole in vehicle’s receiver hitch. Secure Hitch Bar with Hitch Pin (2) and fully engaged Clip (1). -
The Umbrella Holder includes a top and bottom Reducer Bushing (4) designed for an umbrella shaft 1-1/2” diameter, or smaller.

If umbrella shaft diameter is greater than 1-1/2”, both Reducer Bushings will have to be removed. To remove bushings, unscrew each Knob Screw (5) until the Reducer Bushings can be removed.
Note: Not every diameter umbrella shaft will fit this Holder; additional adapters (not included) may be required. A qualified ser- vice technician can assist in making custom adapters from plastic tubing/piping, if need- ed. -
Place the shaft of the umbrella into the vertical tube of the Umbrella Holder.
Note: the shaft of the umbrella must pass all the way through the tube to ensure proper en- gagement with the lower Knob Screw (5). -
Tighten both Knob Screws (5) to lock the umbrella in place.

Always open and close the canopy of the Umbrella slowly, making sure that it does not interfere with people in the vicinity or the vehicle.

The Umbrella Holder is designed to hold an umbrella while the vehicle is parked. It is designed for stationary use only.
Maintaining Flagpole Holder and the Umbrella Holder
- Toclean this product, wipe down with a damp cloth, then dry.
- Frequently inspect the product for cracks or other damage. Make sure Hitch Pin and Clip are in good condition. Check Screws for tightness.
- If using the Flagpole Holder to display an American flag, make sure that the flag is in good condition with no rips or other signs of disrepair. A damaged American flag should be properly retired. See www.wikihow.com/Disposal-of-a-damaged-American-flag.
