• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
• The use of accessory attachments is not recommended by the appliance manufacturer and may result in fire, electrical shock or personal injury.
• Do not use it outdoors or in damp areas.
• Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter.
• Do not place the appliance on or near a hot electric or gas burner, or in a heated oven.
• To disconnect the appliance, turn any control off, then remove the plug from the wall outlet.
• Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use.

Additional Safeguards
Do not operate the appliance if the power cord shows any damage or if the appliance works intermittently.

• Do not turn on the kettle when the lid is off. The lid must be on the kettle in the proper orientation during operation to engage the boil-dry mechanism. If the lid is not on the kettle, the kettle may boil dry, causing damage.
• Always plug the appliance in before turning it on.
• To avoid circuit overload, do not operate another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

• Do not use the kettle to heat anything other than water.
• Do not fill above the max indication. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.
• Be aware of steam being emitted from the spout or lid, especially during refilling.
• Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the heating cycle.
• Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.
• Do not insert any object into slots or holes of the kettle.
• Unplug from the outlet when not in use, move the kettle, and before cleaning.
• If the kettle sustains a heavy impact, it may be damaged. Check for cracks or damage before using, especially if there are signs of leakage.
• The kettle is very hot during use. Do not touch the kettle surface (Fig. 1).

Power Cords

1. A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
2. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use.
3. If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used:
   • a. The marked electrical rating of the detachable power supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance
   • b. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord; and
   • c. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

Grounding Instructions

This appliance must be grounded while in use.

CAUTION:
To ensure continued protection against the risk of electric shock, connect to properly ground outlets only.

LIMITED WARRANTY

1-year limited warranty from the date of original purchase.

1. This warranty extends only to the original retail purchaser or gift recipient. Keep the original sales receipt as proof of purchase is required to make a warranty claim.

2. This warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship from the manufacturing process.

3. Defects that occurred due to improper connection, improper handling, or repair attempts by non-authorized persons are
   not covered by the warranty. The same applies to failure to comply with the use of cleaning and descaling agents that do not correspond to the original specifications.

4. Damages that are not the responsibility of the manufacturer are not covered by the warranty. This is valid, especially for claims arising from improper use (e.g. operation without the lid on the kettle during operation).

5. The warranty becomes void if repairs are carried out by third parties who are not authorized by the manufacturer and/or if spare parts are used other than the original ones.

6. Failure to comply with any of the important safeguards listed in this manual will void the limited warranty.

USING THE KETTLE

Before first use

1. Remove packaging materials, labels, and stickers from the kettle.
2. Read the KETTLE SET UP AND OPERATION section.
3. Clean the kettle by filling it with clear, cold water to the MAX line.
4. Turn on the kettle and bring to a boil.
5. Let the kettle cool down for 1 minute.
6. Empty water from the kettle.
7. Repeat steps 3-6 two more times before using.

Kettle Set up and Operation

1. Set the kettle on a flat, even and steady surface.
2. Take off the lid, and fill the kettle with cold water (Fig. A), up to the MAX line.
3. After filling the kettle with water, place the lid on the kettle, and close firmly. Make sure lid is secured in the proper orientation (Fig. B).
4. Before plugging the kettle into the wall outlet, check that the electrical circuit is not overloaded with other appliances.
5. Plug the power cord into a standard wall outlet (Fig. C).
6. Turn on the I/O switch (Fig. D). The power indicator light will illuminate.
7. When finished boiling, the switch will turn off automatically.
8. Pour the hot water slowly into a vessel (Fig. E).

Note: To manually interrupt the heating process, press the I/O switch at any time.
Note: The kettle lid must be on the kettle during operation to prevent the kettle from boiling dry.

CLEANING
Clean the kettle regularly. This kettle contains no user-serviceable parts and requires little maintenance. Leave any servicing or repairs to qualified personnel.

• Clean the outside of the kettle with a damp soft cloth.
• Do not use abrasive cleansers.
• After cleaning, dry the kettle thoroughly.

WARNING:
Do not immerse the kettle in water or any liquids. This may cause electric shock or damage the appliance (Fig. F).

DESCALING
When mineral scale builds up in your kettle, it can affect temperature consistency and slow down boil time. To ensure optimum performance, Bonavita recommends descaling the kettle when mineral build-up is visible inside the kettle. Bonavita recommends using Full Circle Descaler.

Note: Vinegar may not effectively descale the kettle and can be difficult to thoroughly rinse. Vinegar may also leave behind an odor that could affect future uses.

How to use Full Circle Descaler

1. Fill the kettle with lukewarm water to the MAX line.
2. Add 1 packet Full Circle Descaler to the kettle.
3. Bring the solution to a boil.
4. Let the vessel cool for 15 minutes, then discard the solution.
5. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water.

STORAGE

Clean and dry all parts before storing. Store the kettle in its box or in a clean, dry place. Never wrap the power cord around the kettle.
