  1. Always unplug this massage chair from the electrical outlet immediately after use and before cleaning.
  2.  Never use pins or other metallic fasteners with this appliance.
  3. Carefully examine the covering before each use. Call for service if the covering shows any sign of deterioration, such as blistering, peeling or cracking.
  4. Keep dry – Do not operate in a wet or moist condition.
  5. Remove the power plug from the electrical outlet immediately should liquid be accidentally spilled onto the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair. Do not use wet hands to connect or disconnect the power plug from the electrical outlet.
  6. Do not tamper with the power cord or use the Renew2™ Massage Chair with a damaged cord as this may result in malfunction and electric shock

  1. A massage chair should never be left unattended when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use, and before putting on or taking off parts.
  2. Use this massage chair only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer.
  3. Consult your physician before using this massage chair.
  4. This product is not intended for self-treatment of conditions that should be managed by a qualified health care provider.
  5. Please do not use the product if you are not feeling well.
  6. The Chair is designed as a non-professional massager to soothe tired and aching muscles. It is not intended to be a substitute for medical attention. If your ailments and symptoms persist or worsen after use, contact your physician immediately.
  7. Remove all scarves, neckties, necklaces and jewellery before using this massager.
  8. IMPORTANT: Any individual who may: be pregnant, or recently gave birth, has a heart condition, or a pacemaker, suffers from diabetes or other sensory impairment, phlebitis and/or thrombosis, joint dysfunction, inflammation or injuries, weak bones, osteoporosis, a high fever, an abnormal or curved spine, is at an increased risk of developing blood clots, has pins/screws/artificial joints or other medical devices implanted in his/her body, is being treated for a medical condition or physical injury or is under a doctors care should consult with a medical professional before using a massaging device designed for home use.
  9. Never operate this massage chair if it has a damaged cord or plug if it is not working properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Contact Brookstone Customer Service at 866-336-3199.
  10. Do not carry this massage chair by the power cord or use the cord as a handle.
  11. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
  12. Never operate the massage chair with the air openings blocked. Keep the air openings free of lint, hair and the like.
  13. Do not operate under a blanket or pillow. Excessive heating can occur and cause fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
  14. Do not use the Chair in combination with other therapeutic equipment or electric blanket, etc., as this may result in ineffectiveness or injury.
  15. Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by, on or near children, invalids or disabled persons.
  16. Never drop or insert any object into any opening.
  17. This product is intended for household use only. Do not use outdoors.
  18. Do not operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.
  19. To disconnect, turn all controls to the off position, then remove the plug from the outlet.
  20. Do not stand on or in the massage chair. Use only while seated.
  21. Do not insert your hand or foot along the paths of the massage rollers during use as this may cause injury.
  22. Stop the operation immediately if you experience any discomfort
  23. The product is not intended for use by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the product by a person responsible for their safety.
  24. Do not operate for more than 30 minutes continuously. It is recommended to turn off the Chair and allow it to rest (cool) for 40 minutes before re-using. This will prolong the life of the Chair.
  25. Do not perform continuous massage on the same spot of your body for more than 5 minutes at a time as this may result in excessive stimulation and may have adverse effects.
  26. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the product.
  27. Use heated services carefully. May cause serious burns. Do not use over sensitive skin areas or in the presence of poor circulation. The unattended use of heat by children or disabled persons may be dangerous.
  28. Temperatures sufficiently high to cause burns may occur regardless of the control setting. Do not use it on an infant or invalid or on a sleeping or unconscious person. Check the skin in contact with the heated area of the appliance frequently to reduce the risk of blistering.
  29. Never use the Chair on open skin eruptions or swollen or inflamed areas.
  30. Do not operate after taking painkillers, sedatives or alcohol.
  31. Do not apply massage rollers directly on the head, elbow or knee joints, torso or abdomen.
  32. Burns may result from improper use.
  33. Do not crush – avoid sharp folds.
  34. DO NOT WET – DO NOT USE PINS. Do not use the Chair when your body is wet. Do not operate the Chair with wet hands.
  35. NEVER REMOVE COVER. Do not use the Chair when the upholstery or seat is removed. This may cause injury or malfunction.
  36. Connect this appliance to a properly grounded outlet only. See Grounding instructions on Page 6.
  37. Do not use a massager in close proximity to loose clothing or jewellery.
  38. Keep long hair away from massager while in use.

  1.  Instances when the chair should not be used In the following events, please turn off the main power switch immediately and disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet:
  2. If water is accidentally spilled onto the chair. This may result in electric shock or malfunction.
  3. If the fabric of the backrest is torn and the internal components are exposed.
  4. If pain or discomfort is felt during massage, stop the operation immediately and consult your doctor.
  5. If you detect any malfunction or any other abnormal condition during operation.
  6. If there is a power failure. Injury may occur when power is restored unexpectedly.
  7. If there is lightning.
  8. Assembly and repair of the chair
  9. Do not disassemble the backrest cover of the chair. Touching the internal components may result in malfunction or electric shock.
  10. The chair must only be professionally serviced or repaired. Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the chair yourself.
  11. Things to note about the power plug and cord
  12. Check that the Alternating Current (AC) voltage corresponds with the specification indicated for the chair.
  13. Do not connect or disconnect the power plug from the electrical outlet with wet hands. This may result in malfunction or electric shock.
  14. When disconnecting the power plug, pull it by holding the plug, not the cord.
  15. Although operation will be stopped automatically by the Auto-Timer function, always remember to turn off the main power switch after use.
  16. Do not place the power cord under the chair or any other heavy objects.
  17. Do not wind the power cord around the chair as this may damage the cord and result in a fire or electric shock.
  18. Do not operate the chair with a damaged cord or extension cord.
  19. Do not use the chair if the electrical outlet is loose.
  20. If the power cord is damaged, it should be replaced by a qualified technician
  21. Grounding Instructions
    This product must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides a path of least resistance for the electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This product is equipped with a cord or an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

DANG ER – Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service technician if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the product – if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified technician. This product is for use on a nominal 11 OV circuit and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug illustrated below. Make sure the product is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No adapter should be used with this product.

  • Do not sit, step or place heavy objects on the controller.
  • Do not drop the controller. It is recommended that the controller unit be placed in the remote control holder when not in use.
  • Do not exert excessive force on the controller.
  • Do not handle the controller with wet hands.
  • Do not operate the controller using sharp-edged or hard objects. It may result in damage.

Setting Up the Massage Chair

Moving the Brookstone Renew2~ Massage Chair

Use 2 people to move the chair safely.

  • Hold the back of the Brookstone Renew2″‘ Massage Chair and recline the chair to approximately a 45° angle.
  • Roll it to the desired location, using the casters on the bottom of the chair.
  • Gently place the chair on the floor.

caution

  • Do not move the Brookstone Renew2″‘ Massage Chair when there is someone sitting on it. This will cause the Brookstone Renew2″‘ Massage Chair to tip over resulting in accidents and injuries.

Setting up the Brookstone Renew2~ Massage Chair

  • Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair is shipped with the backrest reclined.
  • Before use, ensure that the backrest is raised fully to its upright position

Adjusting Shoulder Height

The shoulder position is adjustable according to your height. Adjust the position, up or down, in small increments. NOTE : Be careful not to exert too much pressure or it could damage the chair

Adjusting the Head Pillow

To increase intensity, the headrest can be removed, as shown. NOTE: The pillow is attached using Velcro and can be easily removed

Backrest Cushion Layer

A removable Backrest cushion layer is provided to help you achieve the massage intensity you want.

  • If you feel the massage is too light, remove the Backrest cushion layer.
  • If you feel the massage is too strong, insert the Backrest cushion layer

To Access the Backrest Cushion Layer

  •  Pull up the zipper to connect the backrest and cushion.
  • Find the Backrest cushion layer on the inside of the backrest cushion.

Seat Cushion Layer

A removable Seat Cushion Layer is available to help you get the massage intensity you want.

  • If you feel the massage is too light, remove the Seat Cushion Layer

  • If you feel the massage is too strong, reattach the Seat Cushion Layer

  • Ensure that there is an allowance of more than 31 behind the massage chair and more than 31 in front of the Brookstone Renew2″‘ Massage Chair to allow the backrest to recline and the leg rest to extend without obstruction during operation.

Caution

  • It is recommended that a carpet be placed under the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair to prevent scratching the floor and to reduce noise level during operation.
  • As the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair is heavy, please exercise extra care not to damage the floor when positioning it.
  • Maintain a minimum distance of 3 feet from AV devices, such as a TV or radio, to prevent signal interference.
  • Use the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair only when it is placed on an even, flat surface

Power On/Off

  • Connect the power plug to the electrical outlet. In the back of the chair. Plug the power into a stand and 11-inch electrical outlet.
    • Turn on/off the main power switch, located at the back of the Brookstone Renew2″‘ Massage Chair to power  the chair on / off

Caution

  • Ensure the power cord is not placed under the Brookstone Renew2″‘ massage Chair.
  • Ensure all switches are turned OFF (including the main power switch) before connecting the power plug to an electrical outlet.

Checking the Bckrest Pad

  • Lift the backrest upholstery to ensure that there are no holes or tears on the backrest pad.

Caution

  • Always check to ensure that there are no holes or tears on the backrest pad. Stop using the Brookstone Renew2″‘ Massage Chair immediately if you find even the slightest tear. Unplug the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair and contact Brookstone Customer Service at 866-336-3199
  • The rollers are usually stored in the upper part of the backrest. This position is known as the “storage position”.
  • If the rollers are not in the storage position, simply reset them by pressing the power button on the controller before sitting on the massage chair.

Caution

  • Do not sit down on the chair with the leg rest raised. Any sudden heavy weight on the leg rest could cause damage to the mechanism, or it may result in an accident or injury if the chair tips over.
  • Ensure that the backrest returns to the upright position before sitting on the chair, then recline it to your preference.

One touch to Zero Gravity

  • Simply press the zero Gravity button once, to recline to the Zero Gravity position.

How to recline the backrest

  • To raise the backrest, push and hold the (Incline button) until the backrest is at your desired angle.
  • To recline the backrest, push and hold the (Recline button) until the backrest is at your desired angle.

Raising and lowering the footrest

The footrest can be raised independently for additional benefit.

  • To raise the footrest, press and hold the footrest button until the footrest is at the desired angle.
  • To lower the footrest, press and hold the footrest button until the footrest is at the desired angle.

Footrest extension and retraction

  • Raise the footrest until your feet are placed in a natural position.
  • Stretch your feet to a comfortable position. The footrest will retract or extend and stop at an appropriate position

To use the heat function

  • Press the heat button to turn on / off the lumbar heat function

  • Do not place fingers or objects in the gap between the seat and the backrest/legrest.

CAUTION

  • Remove shoes when using the chair.
  • Do not stand on the leg rest unit when it is elevated.
  • ALWAYS retract the leg rest unit to its original position after use.

CAUTION

Please refrain from putting hands and arms in between the backrest and side frame mechanism to prevent injury when the backrest rises.

  • Keep hands and legs away from the gap.

  • When adjusting the backrest and footrest, always ensure there is no object under the footrest/seat and keep children or pets away to prevent injury.
  • Do not sit on the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair with the footrest raised. Any sudden heavy weight on the footrest could cause damage to the mechanism, accident and injury if the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair tips over.
  • Ensure that the backrest returns to its most upright position before sitting on the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair and reclining it according to your preference.
  • Do not place fingers or objects in the gap between the seat and the backrest/foot rest.
  • Ensure that there is no obstruction when adjusting the angle of the backrest/foot rest.

Automatic Massage Programs

You may select any automatic massage program that best suits your needs by pressing the respective automatic program button on the controller

Adjusting automatic programs, localized area programs or manual program settings

Changing the massage program

You may change from one massage program to another without having to wait for a program to complete. If you select a different program when an auto program is running, the rollers will return to the storage position and begin the new program. If you are running a manual program, the rollers will continue moving up or down and will not return to the storage position

Stopping a massage session

Press the Power button to stop all massage functions. The rollers will move back to the storage position and all air bags will deflate, ending the massage. The chair will return to the Exit position. Hitting the current program button again will end the program and return the chair to the Ready position and it waits for the next command

Pausing a massage session

To pause the chair, press the Pause button on the controller. This will temporarily freeze all operations. Press the Pause button again to resume the massage.

Storing the remote

When you have completed your massage session, store the remote in the pocket located between the arm and seat cushion

NOTE

In an emergency or any malfunction, press the Pause button to stop the massage immediately. Will not return rollers to the storage position.

  • Press the Power EJ button to bring the rollers to the storage position
  • Turn off the main switch

  • To avoid accidents and malfunction of the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair, switch off the Main Switch and disconnect the power plug from the electrical outlet after use.
  • Always disconnect the power plug from the electrical outlet if the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair is not being used for a period of time.

Product Care and Storage

Storing the Brookstone Renew2″‘ Massage Chair

  • Wipe off dust and dirt from the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair with a soft, dry cloth after use.
  • Keep the Brookstone Renew2″ Massage Chair clean and away from places of high humidity.
  • If the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair is not going to be used for a long time, cover it with a dust cover and disconnect its power plug from the electrical outlet

Caution

Caution against discoloration

  • Do not store the massage chair under direct sunlight or in places of high temperature. This may cause the colour of the upholstery to fade.
  • Do not allow the massage chair to remain in contact with vinyl or wallpaper for extended periods of time as this could lead to discolouration

Cleaning the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair

  • Before cleaning, ensure that the main power switch is turned off and the AC plug is disconnected from the electrical outlet.
  • Wipe off dust and dirt from the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair after use.
  • The Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair can be cleaned thoroughly with a piece of slightly damp cloth. Do not pour any liquids directly onto the chair.
  • Do not iron the upholstery

Caring for Zip Out Foot Liners

  • Before removing liners, ensure that the main power switch is turned off and the AC plug is disconnected from the electrical outlet.
  • Check the footliners prior to every use.
  • To clean the liners, unzip from the foot rest and remove.
  • Hand wash or wash in Gentle Cycle
  • To prevent injury, do not continue to use the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair/footrest until foot liners have been placed back in the footrest.
  • Return the liners to the footrest and zip them in.

Caution

  • Do not use abrasive cleaning agents like benzene or thinner to clean the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair. This may cause the upholstery to fade.
  • Do not iron the fabric of the massage chair.
  • Do not use a wet cloth to clean the controller. This may result in malfunction.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter problems with operating the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair, please check the following points to see if they can be rectified. If the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair still malfunctions or does not work, please switch off the Main Switch of the Brookstone Renew2™ Massage Chair and remove the power plug from the electrical outlet. Contact Brookstone Customer Service at 866-336-3199 for servicing.
Do not dismantle or attempt to repair the Brookstone Renew2″ Massage Chair yourself. Doing so will void the warranty and Brookstone will not bear any responsibility for any subsequent consequences

TWO (2) YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

Brookstone® warrants this product against defects in materials and/or workmanship under normal use for a period of TWO (2) YEAR from the date of purchase by the original purchaser (“Warranty Period”). If a defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, at its option, Brookstone will either 1) repair the defect at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, or 2) replace the product with a new product that is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or 3) provide a store credit in the amount of the purchase price of the original product. A replacement product or part, including a user-installable part installed in accordance with instructions provided by Brookstone, assumes the remaining warranty of the original product. When a product or part is exchanged, any replacement item becomes your property and the replaced item becomes Brookstone’s property. When a store credit is given, the original product must be returned to Brookstone and become Brookstone’s property.

Obtaining Service

To obtain warranty service, call Brookstone Limited Warranty Service at 877-435-6332. Please be prepared to describe the product that needs service and the nature of the problem. A purchase receipt is required. All repairs and replacements must be authorized in advance. Service options, parts availability and response times will vary. You are responsible for delivery and the cost of delivery of the product or any parts to the authorized service centre for replacement, per our instructions

Limits and Exclusions :

Coverage under this Limited Warranty is limited to the United States of America, including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This Limited Warranty applies only to products manufactured for Brookstone that can be identified by the “Brookstone” trademark, trade name, or logo affixed to them or their packaging. The Limited Warranty does not apply to any non-Brookstone products. Manufacturers or suppliers other than Brookstone may provide their own warranties to the purchaser, but Brookstone, in so far as permitted by law, provides these products “as is.” This warranty does not apply to: a) damage caused by failure to follow instructions relating to the product’s use or the installation of components; b) damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, fire, floods, earthquake or other external causes; c) damage caused by service performed by anyone who is not a representative of Brookstone; d) accessories used in conjunction with a covered product; e) a product or part that has been modified to alter functionality or capability; f) items intended to be periodically replaced by the purchaser during the normal life of the product including, without limitation, batteries or light bulbs; g) any product sold “as is” including, without limitation, floor demonstration models and refurbished items; or h) a product that is used commercially or for a commercial purpose.

BROOKSTONE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT, OR ARISING OUT OF ANY BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, BROOKSTONE DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL STATUTORY OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND WARRANTIES AGAINST HIDDEN OR LATENT DEFECTS.
