Important – Please read these instructions fully before installing or operating
Power source
- Only use the power supply that came with the product. Using an unauthorised power supply will invalidate your guarantee and may irrecoverably damage the product.
- Disconnect your Tower Speaker from the mains power supply during thunderstorms.
- Always check that you have completely switched off your Tower Speaker, before you change or disconnect the power supply.
- Where the mains power plug or an appliance coupler is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable.
- If the Tower Speaker will not be used for a long period of time, make sure that the mains power is unplugged and battery is removed from the remote control battery compartment.
- Only use recommended batteries or those of the same or equivalent type.
- Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
- The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
- Never throw batteries in a fire or attempt to open the outer casing.
- Batteries are harmful if swallowed, so keep away from young children.
- CAUTION: Danger of explosion if batteries are incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type .
Moisture and water
- Do not leave it in low temperatures as moisture can form inside the product, which may damage the circuit board.
Heat sources and flames
- Do not leave it in high temperatures as electronic devices and plastic parts may warp in heat.
- Keep it away from bright sunlight or heat sources, such as a radiator.
- No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the product.
Ventilation
Do not block or cover slots, holes or openings on the product by placing on soft furnishings such as carpets, rugs or beds as these are provided for functionality and/or ventilation to ensure safe operation of the product.
Positioning the Tower Speaker
- It is important that you consider carefully in advance where your Tower Speaker will be situated and make sure that it is:
- on a flat and stable surface.
- within 1.4 metres of a power socket. Please ensure that the mains power lead is not a trip hazard.
- at least 1 metre away from other electrical appliances to avoid interference.
- where it will be in range of the connected or ‘paired’ bluetooth device (e.g. iPod/iPhone/iPad/Android/other phone/computer, which is about 10 metres or less (33 feet or less) in line of sight.
- Never place your Tower Speaker directly onto antique or polished surfaces.
Caution
To avoid possible hearing damage, do not listen to this Tower Speaker at high volume levels for long periods of time. Always keep the volume within reasonable limits.

- Keep the product and all its parts out of reach of small children.
- This product is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Do not attempt to open the product. This product does not contain any user serviceable parts. Unauthorised handling of the device may damage it and will void your warranty.
- Do not use your Tower Speaker near emergency/intensive care medical equipment or during an electrical storm.

Power connection
Note: Before you connect the power, you must first attach the Tower speaker to the separate base using the screws supplied.
- Connect the mains power lead into the socket on the back of the Tower Speaker.
- Plug the power adaptor into the mains power wall socket and switch on.
- The blue LED on the top panel, in front of the AUX socket will begin to flash whilst your Tower Speaker begins to search for Bluetooth devices.
Remote control
- Pull out the safety strip on the remote control to activate the battery.
Initial set-up
In Standby mode
- If your product is in Standby mode (Red LED), press and hold the button on the top of the Tower Speaker or press and release the on the Remote control. The first time you switch on your product, it will power up in Bluetooth mode. The blue LED on the top panel, in front of the AUX socket will begin to flash whilst your Tower Speaker begins to search for Bluetooth devices.
Connect to a Bluetooth device
In Bluetooth (BT) Mode:
- When the blue LED on the top of the Tower Speaker is flashing,
- On the device that you would like to connect to your Tower Speaker via Bluetooth (e.g. iPhone/ iPad/Android/other phone/Tablet/Computer), turn on Bluetooth connectivity and ensure that it is ‘discoverable’.
Note: If necessary, refer to the instructions for your device to add or set up Bluetooth.
Select to ‘Add new device’, if necessary.
Note: Some products will automatically search for a new device and so the ‘Add
new device’ option is not available.
- When found, your Tower Speaker will be displayed as ‘BUSH HT-701’. Select the device name to begin pairing.
- When pairing is complete you will hear an audible alert, the blue LED will stop flashing and will remain constantly on.
- Now that you have paired your device with the Tower Speaker, it will connect to it when it is within range, which is about 10 metres or less (33 feet or less), line of sight.
- Your device will remain paired with the Tower Speaker unless you decide to disconnect or ‘unpair’ it.
- Note: If your Tower Speaker becomes disconnected from the other Bluetooth device at any time, the blue LED will begin to flash as it searches for a Bluetooth connection, select ‘BUSH HT-701’ on the device you wish to connect to reconnect.
- Note: You can press and hold the button for 3 seconds to unpair your current device and search for new devices.
Change the mode
On the Tower Speaker or on the Remote control:
- Press and release the M button on the Tower Speaker or the Mode button on the remote control to change between Bluetooth and Aux-in modes.
- Blue LED: Bluetooth mode
- Blue/Red LED: Aux-in
- Red LED: Standby mode
Note: You must connect an Aux-in cable (not supplied) to the Aux-in socket on the top of the product, to use Aux-in mode.
Adjusting the volume
On the Tower Speaker or on the Remote control:
- Press and release the + button on the Tower Speaker or the button on the remote control to increase the volume in steps.
- Press and hold the button on the remote control to progressively increase the volume.
- Press and release the – button on the Tower Speaker or the button on the remote control to decrease the volume in steps.
- Press and hold the button on the remote control to progressively decrease the volume.
Mute
- On the Remote control:
- Press and release the button to mute the volume.
- Press and release the button to turn the sound on again
Change the EQ setting
On the Remote control (Bluetooth mode only).
- Press and release the EQ button to change the EQ setting. There are 6 options available: Movie, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Country and Flat.

Using your Tower Speaker
Let’s get started
Bluetooth mode
Check that your Tower Speaker is in Bluetooth mode. If you are not already
in Bluetooth mode, press and release the M button on the Tower Speaker or the
Mode button on the Remote control to switch to Bluetooth mode (Blue LED).
Listening to Music/Audio using Bluetooth
In Bluetooth (BT) Mode:

Select and start the music or audio that you wish to listen to on your paired Bluetooth device, it will now be heard through the Tower Speaker. Adjust the volume on the connected device and/or your Tower Speaker.
Note: If your previously paired device is within range but does not automatically connect, go to the Bluetooth connectivity settings on your device and select BUSH HT-701 to reconnect. -
You can use the controls on your paired Bluetooth device as well as those on your Tower Speaker and Remote control.
Controls available on your Tower Speaker and Remote control.
- Play/
- Pause: Press and release the button to play/pause.
- Skip back (Tower speaker) :
- Press and hold the – button to skip back to the previous track.
- Skip back (Remote control) :
- Press and release the button to skip back to the previous track.
- Skip forward (Tower speaker):
- Press and hold the + to skip forward to the next track.
- Skip forward (Remote control
- Press and release the button to skip forward to the next track.
Note: If you do not use your Tower Speaker for approximately 20 minutes and no audio signal is received, it will automatically go to Standby mode. Press and hold the button on the Tower Speaker or press and release the button on the Remote control to switch the Tower Speaker back on.
Aux-in mode
Check that your Tower Speaker is in Aux-in mode. If you are not already in Aux-in mode, press and release the M button on the Tower speaker or the Mode button on the Remote control until you are in Aux-in mode (Blue/Red LED).
- Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not supplied) to the headphone (or auxiliary out) socket of your secondary device, connect the other end to the Aux-in socket on the top of your Tower Speaker.
- Press the play button on your external device to start playback through the Tower Speaker.
- To gain optimal volume levels, adjust the volume level on both the secondary device and on the Tower Speaker.
Note: It is recommended that you unplug the audio cable from the Aux-in socket on the top of the Tower Speaker, after you have finished listening to your external secondary device.

Troubleshooting
No sound / power:
- Adjust the volume.
- Check that the mains power wall socket is switched on and that your Tower Speaker is not in Standby mode.
- If you are using a Bluetooth connected device, increase the volume on the secondary device and on your Tower Speaker.
Unable to pair with a Bluetooth device:
- Check that you are in Bluetooth mode.
- Ensure that you are within range of the Tower Speaker for Bluetooth functionality, 10 metres or less (33 feet or less).
- Move the Tower Speaker and Bluetooth device away from other Bluetooth devices/ electrical equipment.
- If possible, turn off other nearby Bluetooth devices or disable their Bluetooth functionality.
The function buttons do not respond:
- Check that the mains power lead is connected at the back of your Tower Speaker and the mains power wall socket is switched on. Press and hold the button on the Tower Speaker or press and release the button on the Remote control.
- If you are trying to use the Remote control, the battery may be exhausted and need to be replaced. Please use a new, good quality CR2025 3V battery
