Applying the cuff
- Ensure clothing does not interfere with the cuff. Remove any tight or bulky items which might restrict the arm.
- Slide the cuff onto the arm, positioning it as illustrated, so that the hose is closer to your lower arm. Make certain that the lower edge of the cuff lies approximately ½” (1 to 2 cm) above the elbow and that the hose is closer to the inner side of the arm.
IMPORTANT: The Artery Mark Indicator must lie over the brachial artery. The artery is located closer to the inside of the upper arm (directly under the front of the armpit).
TIP: Align artery mark to pinky finger (NOT the center of your arm).
-
Tighten the cuff by pulling the end, and secure the cuff by affixing the hook & loop material.
-
Make sure the cuff is tightened correctly. It should fit the arm snugly, and you should just be able to slide two fingers between the arm and the cuff.
-
Once the cuff is in position and adjusted, ensure the “Sizing Seam” marking falls within the “Size Range” marking. If it does not, the cuff may not be the correct size for your arm.
-
Caution: Incorrect cuff sizing / application: Incorrect sizing can cause your systolic blood pressure measurement to swing up or down by 10 mmHg. Similarly, a cuff that is applied too loosely or too tightly will result in an inaccurate reading. Please contact customer service, or visit our website, for help determining and obtaining the correct sized cuff.
Comment:
If it is not possible to fit the cuff to your left arm, it can also be placed
on your right arm.
Using the cuff:
Follow all instructions included with your original blood pressure monitor
when taking a blood pressure measurement.
