-
Read this manual to familiarise yourself with the Pyramid Kettle. Pay particular attention to the safety instructions on the previous pages.
-
Make sure the appliance is disconnected from the power supply and the on/off switch is in the OFF position (up).
-
Lift the Pyramid Kettle vertically off the power base, open the lid and fill the kettle with cold water and boil it (as described on the following page), then discard the water. This is to ensure all oils, dust and other residues left from themanufacturing process and transport are removed. Repeat this procedure a second time before using the kettle for boiling water to drink.
-
Your new Pyramid Kettle is now ready for use.
Boil-dry protection
- The Pyramid Kettle has an automatic shut-off feature that shuts down power to the Pyramid Kettle if it is empty, preventing accidental operation without water.
Once this safety feature has been activated, unplug the Pyramid Kettle andlet it cool down for a few minutes before filling it with cold water. The Boil-dry protection will then reset and your Pyramid Kettle is ready for use again.
Instructions
Using the Pyramid Kettle
-
To fill the Pyramid Kettle, remove it from the power base and open the lid, fill with the desired amount of cold tap water, then close the lid. Alternatively, the
Pyramid Kettle may be filled through the spout. -
Make sure to fill the kettle at least to the minimum (0.5L) but not beyond the maximum (1.7L) level. Too little water will result in the kettle switching off before the water has boiled; too much water will result in boiling water spilling out of the spout when boiling. Take care that no water spills onto the power base.
-
Ensure that the lid is firmly in place before positioning the Pyramid Kettle on the power base. With dry hands, plug the power base into an appropriate wall outlet and switch on power at the outlet.
-
Press down the on/off switch below the handle. The indicator light will light up and the water will start heating up. Do not open the lid during use.
NOTE: Ensure that the switch is free of obstructions and the lid is firmly closed.
The Pyramid Kettle will not turn off if the switch is constrained or the lidis open. -
The Pyramid Kettle will automatically switch itself off when the water has boiled: the on/off switch will return to the OFF position and the power indicator will no longer be illuminated.
-
Wait until the water inside the kettle has completely stopped bubbling before pouring. Remove the kettle from the power base by gripping the handle and lifting it off the power base.
Take care when pouring the water to avoid scalding from boiling water or hot steam. Do not open the lid while the water in the kettle is hot. -
To stop the heating process at any time during operation, press the on/off switch upwards.
-
To re-boil the water, allow the kettle to cool for 15~20 seconds before pushing down the switch again to boil the water.
-
The Pyramid Kettle may be stored on the power base but make sure the power supply is turned off when the kettle is not in use.
Other useful information
NOTE
The Pyramid Kettle takes approx. 15–20 seconds to turn off when boiling – this
is not a fault. Should you accidentally allow the kettle to operate without
water, the boil-dry protection will automatically switch it off. If this
should occur, allow the kettle to cool before filling with cold water and re-
boiling.
Cleaning and maintenance
- Always disconnect the Pyramid Kettle from the power outlet and allow it to cool before cleaning.
- Never immerse the kettle, cord or power base in water. All connections and sockets must be kept dry.
- The outside of your kettle only requires occasional wiping with a damp cloth and mild, non-abrasive household detergent, if necessary, then wipe dry.
- To prevent damage to the kettle, do not use scouring pads, steel wool, solvents or harsh chemical or alkaline cleaning agents.
- Ethereal oils and organic solvents can attack plastic parts, e.g. lemon juice or the juice from orange peel, or cleansers that contain acetic acid. Do not allow such substances to come into contact with the appliance parts.
Removal of mineral deposits
From time to time, you may need to clean off any mineral deposits (limescale) left by water inside your kettle to keep it operating efficiently. How often you have to do this depends on the water hardness in your area and on how often you use the Pyramid Kettle. If scaling is a problem in your area, it is important that you clean the inside of the kettle regularly as scale build-up will damage the heating element and impair the boil-dry safety feature.
You can use a commercially available descaling agent for household products (according to the instructions on the packet) to descale the kettle, or a simple water and vinegar solution and follow the steps below.
- Fill the kettle with 3 cups of white vinegar and the remainder with water.
- Let this mixture stand in the kettle overnight. Do not boil.
- Empty the solution from the kettle. Any stains remaining inside the spout can be removed by rubbing with a damp cloth.
- Fill the kettle with fresh, clean water, let it boil and then discard the water. Repeat with clean, fresh water until all traces of vinegar are removed.
NOTE
It is possible that spots of what looks like rust may appear on the base.
This is caused by impurities in the water, it is not a fault.
Cleaning the filter
Clean the filter regularly to ensure an easy flow of water. Take out the
filter from in front of the spout and under running water, rub the filter
gently with your fingers.
Be careful not to use anything that could tear or damage the filter when
cleaning.
Descale the filter at regular intervals. Soak it in a descaling solution, rub
off any residues gently with your fingers and then rinse the filter
thoroughly.
Service and repair
Do not attempt to dismantle the kettle or power base. The unit contains no
user-serviceable parts inside. If you have any problems with the Pyramid
Kettle, contact the after sales support line for advice on repair or
replacement.
Storage
When in storage or not in use, the power cord may be wound around the cord
storage under the bottom of kettle.
Environment Friendly disposal
The European Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
(WEEE) requires that old household electrical appliances must not be disposed
of in the normal unsorted municipal waste stream. Old appliances must be
collected separately in order to optimise the recovery and recycling of the
materials they contain and reduce the impact on human health and the
environment.
The crossed out “Wheeled Bin” symbol on the product reminds you of your
obligation that when you dispose of the appliance, it must be separately
collected.
Contact your local authority for information concerning the correct disposal
of your old appliance.
