Product Usage Instructions

Getting Started:

  • Remove the seat and disconnect both positive and negative battery terminals.
  • Remove the windshield and outer fairing.

Speaker Installation:

  • Remove your stock speakers and replace them with your new PSC652 speakers in the kit.
    1. Install the speaker into the pod and fasten with the original speaker screws. Fig 7.

Harness Installation:

  • Route speaker wires to their respective connectors. Fig. 2
    1. Separate the speaker connectors and plug in the amplifier harness to each speaker. Fig. 8 & Fig. 8a
  • Plug the switched power harness into the 2-pin amp connector on the throttle side. Fig. 9 (see also, Fig. 2 for location)
  • Plug the blue wire on the kicker harness into the switched power harness lead with one wire. Fig. 9
    1. This allows for an accessory 12V port to remain available.
  • Route both power leads and rear speaker output plug along the clutch side of the neck and through the electrical caddy to the seat area.

Amp Installation:

  • Remove the radio.
    • Unplug the four connectors on the back of the radio.
    • Remove the four 3/16 allen head bolts holding the radio to the chassis.
    • Gently remove the radio from the chassis.
  • Install the KPX300.4 amplifier onto bracket with supplied hardware.
    1. Slide the end of the amplifier with the power connector port into the bracket and fasten with supplied hardware.
    2. Install the 9/64 allen head bolts from the bottom and fasten the 11/32 locknuts onto the amplifier. Fig. 10
  • Carefully install bracket/amplifier assembly onto radio chassis by installing the assembly through the radio face port in the fairing and sliding the tabs of the bracket over the chassis. Fig 11Bracket must be angled through radio opening. Fig. 11a
  • Attach amplifier to the harnesses power, speaker, and input signal plugs. Fig. 12

KICKER is not responsible for damage resulting from improper installation techniques. This kit may not be compatible with some aftermarket head units.

PROGRAMMING HD RADIO

NOTE : It is necessary to re-flash your HD radio before installation of this kit.

Tools Needed:

  • 10mm wrench or socket
  • Torx T-30
  • Allen 9/64
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Torx T-40
  • 11/32 wrench or socket
  • Torx T-25
  • Allen 3/16

Installation

  1. Remove the seat and disconnect both positive and negative battery terminals.

  2. Remove the windshield and outer fairing.

    • Once the windshield screws are removed, gently pull off the top vent/cowl piece. There are two plastic retainer clips that hold it on.
    • Remove your stock speaker grilles. Push them out from the inside of the fairing. They are fastened with a plastic retainer clip. Fig 1.
    • Unplug the turn signals. Fig 2.
    • Remove the lower T25 fasteners holding the air defl ectors to the inner fairing. Fig 3.
    • Remove the 3/16” allen bolts holding the turn signals to the inner fairing. Fig 4.
    • While holding the fairing, carefully remove the two T30 bolts behind the speaker grilles to remove the outer fairing and set aside. Fig 5.
    • Remove the fuel tank.
    • Remove the console.
    • Unplug the fuel fi tting on the left side of the tank.
    • Remove all four T40 mounting bolts and carefully lift the tank off the bike and set aside.
  3. Remove wiring caddy cover.
    Carefully release each tab along the caddy until it lifts completely. Fig 6.
    SPEAKER INSTALLATION

  4. Remove your stock speakers and replace them with your new PSC652 speakers in the kit.
    Install the speaker into the pod and fasten with the original speaker screws. Fig 7.
    GETTING STARTED HARNESS INSTALLATION

  5. Route speaker wires to their respective connectors. Fig. 2

    • Separate the speaker connectors and plug in the amplifier harness to each speaker. Fig. 8 & Fig. 8a

  9. AMP INSTALLATION

  10. Remove the radio.

    • Unplug the four connectors on the back of the radio.
    • Remove the four 3/16″ allen head bolts holding the radio to the chassis.
    • Gently remove the radio from the chassis.
  11. Install the KPX300.4 amplifier onto bracket with supplied hardware.

    • Slide the end of the amplifier with the power connector port into the bracket and fasten with supplied hardware.
    • Install the 9/64″ allen head bolts from the bottom and fasten the 11/32″ locknuts onto the amplifier. Fig. 10
  12. Carefully install bracket/amplifier assembly onto radio chassis by installing the assembly through the radio face port in the fairing and sliding the tabs of the bracket over the chassis. Fig 11

    • Bracket must be angled through radio opening. Fig. 11a
  13. Attach amplifier to the harnesses power, speaker and input signal plugs. Fig. 12
    SYSTEM SETUP – Fig. 13 Note : At this time, it is highly recommended to set the amp gain to 0. KICKER recommends that the dip switches be set up as follows:

    • Fader – On Input level – HI
    • HI-PASS – Amp 1: 80 Hz (For Front)Amp 2: 60Hz (6 x 9)
    • 80Hz (6.5” Tour Pack)
    • Input Gain controls – 0
    • Note : At this time it is highly recommended to use the included Mylar sticker to cover the dip switches as seen in Fig. 14
  14. Plug the radio in, but do not reinstall it until the gain has been set.

  15. Test component function and set the gain to optimize system performance. if you are not using rear speakers it is recommended to leave the amp 2 gain turned all the way down.

  16. Carefully reassemble the motorcycle and enjoy your new audio system!
    Note : If you are not using rear speakers you will need to connect the Dummy Plug (fig. 15) to the rear speaker connector under the seat.

What tools do I need for installation?

Can I use this kit with aftermarket head units?

This kit may not be compatible with some aftermarket head units. Please refer to the instructions and check compatibility before installation.

How should I set up the dip switches on the amplifier?

It is recommended to set the amp gain to 0 and follow the provided diagram to set up the dip switches on the amplifier.
