RC8X FAQ

Q1: What battery is suitable to work with RC8X? What’s the voltage range?
A1: RC8X can be powered by 8 pieces of AAA batteries or a 2S-4S LiPo battery or a 6S Ni-MH. The voltage range is 7V to 17V DC. 5.5 V computer or mobile power bank via Type-C cable can temporarily supply power to RC8X.

Q2: What receivers are RC8X compatible with?
A2: Radiolink R8FG(Standard)/ R7FG/R6FG/R6F/R8EF/R8F/R4FGM/R4F.

Q3: How to activate Gyro Mode of R8FG?
A3: Factory setting is gyro function OFF. Remain R8FG still when power it on as the gyro will self-check. Short press the binding button three times with interval less than 1s, the RED indicator flashes three times. Red LED on/off indicates the gyro function is on/off. The always-on GREEN LED is working mode WITHOUT gyro and the always-on GREEN+RED LED is working mode WITH gyro.

Q4: Can RC8X control TRAXXAS or twin-engine RC cars?
A4: Sure. RC8X is a perfect remote control for all types of on-road electric powered or gasoline cars and twin-engine cars, tracked vehicles, crawlers, drift cars, tractor trucks, nitro cars, mini cars, sailboats, fishing boats.

Q5: How to update the firmware of RC8X?

Q6: After updating the firmware of RC8X, the screen shows Device error. How to solve the problem?
A6: It may be you download the firmware to the file but didn’t update it on RC8X. please follow the steps in the manual to update it on RC8X.
If it’s still not working, please follow the steps below.

  1. Connect RC8X to the computer, and enter USB mode. There are two files, RC8X_EXT and RC8X_INT. Please format RC8X_EXT.
  2. Please download the complete package of the latest firmware and then copy it to RC8X_EXT.
  3. Update the firmware.

Q7: Does this have 4 wheel steering capabilities ( all 4 at the same time from the same steering wheel) ? If yes, does it have other 4ws options?
A7: Yes, RC8X support 4 wheel steering capabilities and it has 4WS menu options.
Not only 4WS options, but also Steering mixing, Brake mixing, Gyro mixing, Dual ESC mixing, CPS mixing, Tank mixing, Tilt mixing and 8 programmable mixings. It’s easy to set and compatible with a wide range of models.

Q8: Can I set Korean as voice broadcast?
A8: Sure, you can make custom prompt voice production through text-to- speech software, and then copy the voice file to the transmitter. It is specially designed for users in non-English language countries. You can set whatever language you want.

Q9: Can you remotely switch between multiple receivers (In different vehicles) on the transmitter? Or do you have to manually bind it every switch?
A9: Hi yes. This RC8X transmitter can switch between multiple receivers. We called it “Child ID” in the menu, and it supports up to 16 receivers that can be set as Child ID.
You can remotely switch from each other, they’re independent. The way is:

  1. Enter main menu, select receiver setting, turn it on, and select ID01.
  2. Back to the main menu, the signal tower will lose. Now you need to re-bind it with the receiver you want. After bound, the signal tower will be displayed again.
  3. Back to Child ID, select ID02, bind it with another receiver you want.
  4. Switch between different receivers just needs to select the corresponding ID number in the Child ID menu. RC8X also supports bind with multiple receivers at the same time, you can control all the bound vehicles.

Q10: Can the battery be powered by USB cable?
A10: No, it cannot be used to charge the battery of RC8X. You need to take out the battery from compartment. The Type-C port on the left of RC8X is used to update firmware, copy data, supply power to the 5.8G image transmission module, and temporarily supply power to RC8X.
