GENERIC INFORMATION

• Read these instructions and store them.
• Heed all warnings.
• Follow the instructions.
• Do not use this apparatus near water.
• Clean only with a dry cloth.
• Do not block the ventilation openings and install them in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Do not install near heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
• Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarised or grounding-type plug: a polarised plug has two blades with one wider than the other.
• A grounding-type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety.

If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for the replacement of the obsolete outlet. or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.

• Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
• Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
• Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel only. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way (such as when the power cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, or the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture) and in any case when the apparatus does not operate normally or has been dropped.

This appliance has a serial number located on the rear panel.

FRONT PANEL OVERVIEW
The front panel of the PH-5 has been designed for ease of use and everyday reliability. Everything revolves around the interface.
This provides you with intuitive controls so that you can check the PH-5 settings at glance and adjust parameters quickly using your finger.

REAR PANEL OVERVIEW
The PH-5 features high-quality connectors to provide maximum versatility.
The PSU IN input is dedicated to the external power supply to enhance even further the performance of your PH-5.

QUICK START

ON/OFF

1. Use the Master Switch on the rear panel to power the PH-5. When the Master Switch is ON, the PH-5 is on standby and the status LED is red.
2. Tap the display and hold for 1 second to turn ON the PH-5. The status LED turns blue.
3. When the PH-5 is ON, tap and hold on to the display for 1 second to turn it OFF. The status LED turns red.

HOW TO SELECT FUNCTIONS

1. To adjust a setting, tap it once to highlight it (see image 2).
2. Tap again to confirm the selection (see image 3).
3. The setting is now active, tap to adjust it until the desired value is selected.
4. All changes are saved automatically in real-time, after 3 seconds the selection is deactivated.

Gold Note products should only be opened, serviced, and inspected by certified Gold Note technicians and dealers. Work performed by unqualified personnel may cause serious damage or personal injury. Opening the product by non-authorized personnel will void the guarantee. In this case, contact your dealer to be advised on how the fault can be solved.
Do not return any object directly to the factory or to the distributor without being authorized to do so.
WARRANTY
All Gold Note products come with a warranty against defective materials and workmanship. Any service and inspection must be carried out by a Gold Note dealer or distributor so in case you need any assistance with this product, please contact the seller.

The MM cartridges usually need a 47KΩ load.| Refer to the manufacturer’s specifications to set up
MC cartridges.
MM cartridges do not require any adjustment.
The PH-5 has a fixed capacitance of 220pF.
Buzzing noise coming from the loudspeakers.| The phono stage is very sensitive to the surrounding environment.| Try different placements of the phono stage and ensure that the environment is not affected by RFI/EMI. Always use shielded cables.
The ground connector is not connected correctly.| Try to connect and disconnect the cables and ensure they are working properly.
The cables are not connected properly| Always connect the interconnect input to test how the phono stage performs.
The listening volume is very high while no music is playing.| High-performance phono stages will produce a buzzing noise when the volume is too high. It’s
normal when no music is playing and with MC gain
selection.
Buzzing noise coming from the loudspeakers.| The tonearm and the cartridge are not installed
properly.| Check the cartridge and the tonearm.
PH-5 is not working| The interconnect cables used on the input/output are not shielded.| Always use shielded cables.
The power cord is not plugged in.| Connect the power cord properly and ensure the power outlet is working.
The cables are not connected to the tonearm.| Ensure that the cables are properly connected.
The IEC fuse is blown| Replace it with one of the same value.

CLEANING THE UNIT

With EXTREME care use ONLY water or detergents for delicate surfaces with a very soft cloth to sweep dust and remove stains.
Any acid or not extremely soft cloth will irreversibly damage the unit. Do not use alcohol.
