Thank you for entering the Golden Bean World Series 2024!

FORMAT
$600 AUD covers all your entries in the categories below:
- Category 1 – Espresso (1kg, whole coffee beans in a branded bag)
- Category 2 – Milk (1kg, whole coffee beans in a branded bag)
- Category 3 – Filter (1kg, whole coffee beans in a branded bag)
You will be submitting 3x 1kg coffee entries. There is no limit on green bean cost and no restriction on roasting method. Chemical flavored coffee after the beans have been roasted (infused) will be disqualified. We will accept fermented coffees that is part of the processing cycle.
COSTS AND ATTENDANCE
Purchase one of three options on the website:
- “World Series Coffee Entry and Attendance Ticket” $1,200 AUD
- “World Series Coffee Entry” $600 AUD
- “World Series Attendance Ticket” $600 AUD
*Note: Purchasing just a “Coffee Entry” is not an attendance ticket.
Please purchase an option with “Attendance” to be able to come to the event.
For all entrants, we highly recommend you attend the event and take your
coffee samples with you. We don’t want your coffee samples to be held up in
quarantine and miss the judging. If you do post your coffee and it doesn’t
arrive in time, we will not be held accountable.
If you are sending us your coffee entries, (3x 1kg bags) please allow at least
TWO WEEKS for transit. If posted/shipped it has to arrive no later than Friday
23rd February 2024 at 5pm.
SCORING
The final scores are the totals of all three coffee entries. The highest scoring roaster over the three categories will be the World Series Overall Champion.
There will be 3 trophies:
– The Overall Champion
– The Small Franchise/Chain/Retail Champion
– The Large Franchise/Chain/Retail Champion
MEDALS
There are Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for each category: Espresso, Milk and
Filter.
HOW TO SEND YOUR COFFEE
Unlike other Golden Bean competitions, for the World Series you need to send your coffee in branded bags to prevent being stopped at customs. Please clearly indicate on each bag what category the coffee is being entered into (1, 2 or 3).

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to enter Golden Bean World Series, you need to have won a gold
or silver medal in a previous Golden Bean Competition.

Providing water filtration for all categories from
PENTAIR Everpure.
WBC standard of 80 – 120 TDS.
CATEGORY 1: ESPRESSO
- Slayer Steam EP’s
- Tamping PT2 Cinoart 15kg
- Brewhead set at 93°C
- 20g in basket with a brew mass yield of between 40g-43g
- Extracted over 25-28 second extraction split into two shots
CATEGORY 2: MILK
- Espresso – shot as per above
- Cup size – 6oz (Takeaway cup)
- 80g of whole milk
CATEGORY 3: FILTER
– BEHMOR BRAZEN PLUS
- Brewer will be altitude calibrated at the event to ensure the highest temperature accuracy
- 900ml of filtered PENTAIR/Optipure water
- 60g of coffee, filter ground – Medium
- Temperature set to 92°C (and held constant for the entire brewing process)
- Pre-soak / Bloom time set for 45 seconds
- Will yield 2 x 225ml cups of coffee +/- 5% (depending on roast depth.)

CAFE CULTURE INTERNATIONAL
– OWNERSHIP OF AWARDS:
- All branding including logos, text and images of the Golden Bean remain the sole property of Cafe Culture International.
- Authorisation for use of the Golden Bean logo artwork must be obtained from Cafe Culture International in writing, prior to use.
- The logo in its entirety or part thereof must not be replicated or recreated without prior consent from Cafe Culture International.
- The logo must be used in its entirety to include text and imagery.
- In the event of branding breaches legal action may be taken by the event organiser (Cafe Culture International) and/or its naming rights sponsor.
- World Series digital sticker packages will be available to the medalists
