IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are closely supervised and instructed concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces, including the stove.
- Do not place electric kettle on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
- To disconnect electric kettle, turn any control to OFF ( ) and then remove plug from wall outlet. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord.
- Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
- Do not use for other than heating water. Other liquids or food will contaminate the interior and void warranty.
- Do not allow kettle to boil dry.
- To avoid circuit overload, do not operate another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit.
- Heater may remain hot after the kettle is turned off.
- WARNING: If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.
- WARNING: Scalding may occur if the lid is opened during the heating cycle.
- Be certain kettle lid is securely in place during operation and when pouring hot water. Do not use force when placing lid on kettle.
- Use only the power base provided.
- Do not clean glass with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasivematerial.

This appliance is intended for household use only.
- WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard: This appliance is provided with a grounded (3-prong) plug to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only one way into a grounded outlet.
- Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit into the outlet, have an electrician replace the outlet.
- The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over a longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary, an approved extension cord may be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the rating of the appliance. The extension cord must be a grounding-type, 3-wire cord. Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over.
- To avoid an electrical circuit overload, do not use another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit with this appliance.

How to Use
WARNING Burn Hazard. Do not overfill kettle. Boiling water may spit out of the spout.
Before first use: Press Lid-Opening Button to lift Lid and fill Kettle with water to MAX fill line. Press Lid down until it locks in place. Place Kettle on Base; press Power Switch down to turn Kettle on. Kettle will bring water to a boil, then shut off automatically. Discard waterand repeat 2 times, rinsing out Kettle each time. Kettle is now ready for use.
- Press Lid-Opening Button to lift Lid and fill Kettle with desired amount of water. Do not fill above MAX 1.7 L fill line or below MIN 0.5 L fill line.
- Press Lid down until it locks into place and place Kettle on Base.
- Plug into outlet.
- Press Power Switch down and purple Water Temperature Indicator Light will illuminate while heating. Water Temperature Indicator Light located inside Kettle will change color as water heats. See chart for color of light and temperature of water. Kettle will automatically shut off when water has boiled and Power Switch will move up to OFF ( ). Unplug.
NOTES:
- Only use Kettle to heat water. If Kettle is used to heat other liquids, such as coffee or tea, the warranty will be voided.
- When filled past MIN 0.5 L fill line, Kettle will automatically shut off 30-90 seconds after water boils.

NOTE: These temperature settings can vary depending on a number of factors, such as altitude, impurities in water, and amount of water in Kettle. Actual temperature may differ by ±5° degrees.
If Kettle Floor Discolors:
- It is normal for stainless steel heating elements to discolor. This does not affect the performance of Kettle. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or cleaners since this may damage the stainless steel surface.
If Kettle Boils Dry:
- The heating element is protected by two automatic safety devices. If your Kettle is accidentally switched on without being filled with water, or is allowed to boil dry, Kettle will automatically switch off. You should:
- Lift Power Switch up to turn OFF ( ), unplug, and wait about 20 minutes for the element to cool down.
- Refill Kettle; then use as normal and check that Kettle functions correctly.
Kettle Shutoff:
- This Kettle is designed to automatically shut off 30 to 90 seconds after water boils.
If Kettle Does Not Work:
Make these simple checks before visitinghamiltonbeach.com:
- Have you turned Power Switch down to ON (l) position?
- If Kettle heats but does not boil, it might need descaling.
- Has Kettle been accidentally switched on without being filled with water or allowed to boil dry? Lift Power Switch to turn OFF ( ), wait 20 minutes, and try again.
- Is cord firmly plugged into the outlet and Kettle firmly seated in Base?
Anti-Scale Nonremovable Mesh Filter:
Scale is caused by lime and calcium in hard water. Mesh Filter will prevent these suspended particles from being poured out of Kettle. Filter should be cleaned periodically to ensure optimum performance. To clean Nonremovable Filter, unplugKettle and allow to cool. Rinse Filter under running water and brush with a soft brush. An old, clean toothbrush works well.
Care and Cleaning
- WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard. Do not immerse kettle, power base, or plug in water or other liquid.
- WARNING Burn Hazard. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders since they may scratch the smooth surface of the kettle, causing the glass to break suddenly during use or cleaning.
To remove discoloration or scale/lime deposit from inside bottom of Kettle:

Unplug.

Pour 1 tablespoon white vinegar and 1/4 cup (59 mL) water into Kettle and let stand 10 minutes. OR Place 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) cream of tartar (available in the spice aisle of grocery store) into Kettle. Then fill Kettle 1/2 full with water. Plug into outlet, press Power Switch down, and bring to boil. Lift Power Switch up to turn OFF. Unplug and let cool. Rinse several times with clean tap water.

Rub Kettle floor with a paper towel. Remove paper towel and vinegar.

Wash with soap and water, and then rinse and dry.
Tip: To avoid scale/lime deposit buildup, empty Kettle after each use. -
For easy storage, cord can be wrapped under Power Base.
Limited warranty
- This warranty applies to products purchased in the U.S. and Canada. This is the only express warranty for this product and is in lieu of any other warranty or condition.
- This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase. During this period, your exclusive remedy is repair or replacement of this product or any component found to be defective, at our option; however, you are responsible for all costs associated with returning the product to us and our returning a product or component under this warranty to you. If the product or component is no longer available, we will replace it with a similar one of equal or greater value.
- This warranty does not cover glass, filters, wear from normal use, use not in conformity with the printed directions, or damage to the product resulting from accident, alteration, abuse, or misuse. This warranty extends only to the original consumer purchaser or gift recipient. Keep the original sales receipt, as proof of purchase is required to make a warranty claim. This warranty is void if the product is used for other than single-family household use or subjected to any voltage and waveform other than as specified on the rating label (e.g., 120V ~ 60 Hz).
