Connectivity and Software

• The SKX SmartSled can communicate via USB in HID mode for one-way USB communication or Serial mode for two-way USB communication. For serial profile mode, refer to the SKX manual.

SKX SmartSled USB HID Mode

• HID mode allows data input directly into any text field. To put the SKX SmartSled into HID mode, scan the QR code provided in the manual.

SKX SmartSled USB Serial Mode

• Serial mode requires KTsync or a custom application developed using the KOAMTAC SDK to input data into an application. To change the SKX SmartSled to serial mode, scan the QR code provided in the manual.

Changing UHF Tag Read Modes

• SKX models with UHF Reader can toggle between UHF Single Read Mode and UHF Multiple Read Mode by pressing the SCAN button. For UHF Active Read Mode, scan the specific barcode provided in the manual.

USB Interfaces: PC to SKX

• To connect a PC to the SKX SmartSled for firmware upgrades or configuration, use the PC to SKX QR code provided in the manual to bypass the smartphone.

USB Interfaces: Phone to SKX

• To reset the default connection between smartphone and SKX SmartSled, scan the Phone to SKX QR code provided in the manual for normal operation.

HOW TO CONNECTION

SKX SmartSled Connectivity

• The default communication method for the SKX SmartSled is HID. If you prefer to use the SKX SmartSled in USB serial mode, please refer to the QR codes in the next two panels.
• Allows one-way USB communication.
• The SKX SmartSled only transmits data to the host device.
• Allows two-way USB communication.
• The SKX SmartSled transmits data to the host device application and the host device application can transmit data and control back to the SKX SmartSled.

SKX SmartSled USB HID Mode

• The HID keyboard is only available when the SKX
• SmartSled is set to USB HID mode. To put the SKX
• SmartSled into USB HID mode, scan the QR code below:

USB HID Mode

• HID inputs data directly into any text field.

SKX SmartSled USB Serial Mode

• To change the SKX SmartSled to USB serial mode for use with KTSync, your application, or for SKX firmware upgrades, scan the QR code below:

USB Serial Mode

Serial requires KTSync or a custom application developed using the KOAMTAC SDK to input data into an application.

Toggling Read Modes

The SCAN button can operate in Barcode mode and UHF mode. To toggle between modes, press the SCAN buttons in this order within 3 seconds:

LEFT-LEFT-RIGHT-RIGHT-LEFT-RIGHT

• When switching into Barcode mode, 1 long and 1 short beep will sound.
• Barcodes can be read by either SCAN button.
• When switching into UHF mode, 1 long and 2 short beeps will sound. UHF tags can be read by either SCAN button.
• Only applicable to SKX models with UHF Reader.
• Modes can also be changed in KTSync SKX.

Changing UHF Tag Read Modes

• The UHF tag read mode is changed by scanning one of the special barcodes: active (default) read, single read, or multiple read.

UHF Active Read Mode

• Basic operation status. Simultaneous reading of multiple tags while pressing the SCAN button (max. 10 minutes).
• Only applicable to SKX models with UHF Reader.

Changing UHF Tag Read Modes

UHF Single Read Mode

• Only one tag is read each time the SCAN button is pressed.

UHF Multiple Read Mode

• When the SCAN button is pressed, multiple tags are simultaneously read for the set time (default 10 seconds)
• Only applicable to SKX models with UHF Reader.

USB Interfaces: PC to SKX

• To connect a PC to the SKX SmartSled (for firmware upgrades or configuration), connect the SKX SmartSled to the PC with a USB cable, then scan the QR code below.
• This will bypass the smartphone. ****
• PC to SKX Once you disconnect the USB cable from the PC, your smartphone will automatically reconnect to the SKX SmartSled.

USB Interfaces: Phone to SKX

• To reset the default connection (smartphone to SKX SmartSled), scan the QR code below. This will return the SKX SmartSled to normal operation. ****
