Modular Metering Unit/ Metering Unit PM-PV-BD
Installation Guide

Description

Danfoss Metering Unit is a heating and cooling unit, which can be used for metering, balancing, and controlling individual apartments in centralized heating and domestic hot water systems.
The modular version consists of different articles that are fully compatible and can be easily mounted to all pipe directions.
In PV-PM-BD sets are already pre-assembled.

Installation

Authorized personnel only
Assembly, start-up, and maintenance work must be performed by qualified and authorized personnel only.

  1. Connections between sets and cabinets are made by placing the sets on vertical or horizontal hooks. The connection can be tightened by using self-tapping screws included in the package. An example of the assembly can be seen in the picture above. If you have the pre-assembled variant (Metering unit PM-PV-BD), this stage can be ignored.
  2. Connection to the household installation and district heating pipes connections must be made using threaded, flanged, or welded connections. Due to vibrations during transport, all connections must be checked and tightened before water is added to the system.
  3. At the end of the washing, clean the strainer.
  4.  When the system has been washed, you can replace the plastic spacer with the thermal energy meter or water meter (Centre distance 130 mm or 110  mm)
  5. After making the installations, test the pressurized system according to the requirements of regional/national standards. After the water has been added to the system and the system has been put into operation, re-tighten ALL connections.

General instructions:

  • In case TWA is mounted to the AB-PM-set, the AB-PM valve should be rotated to a 45° angle to avoid collision
  • The strainer body should be rotated so that the strainer faces down
  • Please remove the energy meter/water meter plastic placer before permanent use

Maintenance

The metering unit requires little monitoring, apart from routine checks. It is recommended to read the energy meter at regular intervals and to write down the meter readings.
Regular inspections of the metering unit according to this Instruction are recommended, which should include:

  1. Cleaning of strainers.
  2. Checking of all operating parameters such as meter readings.
  3. Checking of all temperatures, such as HS supply temperature and PWH temperature.
  4. Checking all connections for leakages.
  5. The operation of the safety valves should be checked by turning the valve head in the indicated direction
  6. Checking that the system is thoroughly vented.
Inspections should be carried out a minimum every two years.
Spare parts can be ordered from Danfoss.
