GUIDELINES FOR INSTALLATION OF COMPETITION BRAKE CALIPER STUDS &
NUTS
INSTALLATION
-
PROPERLY LIFT AND SUPPORT THE CAR.
-
REMOVE THE WHEELS.
-
REMOVE BRAKE CALIPERS USING CARE NOT TO DAMAGE BRAKE LINES
-
CLEAN THE INTERNAL WHEEL CARRIER THREADS, MAKING SURE THERE ARE NOT ANY CONTAMINANTS. (USING AN M12-1.5 TAP TO CHASE THE THREADS AND COMPRESSED AIR TO REMOVE ANY DEBRIS IS RECOMMENDED.)

A. (FOR #BCSK-62/95) THREAD THE 12MM END OF THE STUD INTO THE WHEEL CARRIER BY HAND! TURN EACH STUD UNTIL IT BOTTOMS OUT. DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF LOCTITE PRE-APPLIED TO THE THREADS IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO USE THE 2 STANDARD HEX NUTS SUPPLIED WITH THE KIT TO AID INSTALLATION. USE STEP 6 TO HELP GET THE STUDS FULLY SEATED INTO THE WHEEL CARRIER.
5B. (FOR #BCSK-72/85/115) APPLY THE SUPPLIED LOCTITE THREAD LOCKER TO THE 12MM END OF THE STUD AND THREAD IT INTO THE WHEEL CARRIER BY HAND! TURN EACH STUD UNTIL IT BOTTOMS OUT. -
USING THE TWO STANDARD M10 HEX NUTS (NOT THE 12-POINT FASTENERS!) INCLUDED IN THE KIT – THREAD THEM ON THE 10MM END OF THE STUD AND TIGHTEN THEM TOGETHER. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO USE THE TOP NUT TO TORQUE THE STUD IN THE WHEEL CARRIER.

TORQUE EACH STUD TO APPROXIMATELY 5 FOOT-POUNDS IN ORDER TO FULLY SEAT THE STUD.
AVOID OVERTIGHTENING STUDS!
- LOOSEN THE 2 STANDARD M10 NUTS AND REMOVE THEM FROM THE STUD.
- REPEAT STEPS 3 THRU 7 FOR EACH STUD BEING INSTALLED.
- ALLOW 20 MINUTES FOR THE THREAD LOCKER TO CURE BEFORE INSTALLING BRAKE CALIPER NUTS.
USE & MAINTENANCE
- POSITION CALIPER IN PLACE AND TORQUE (12PT) NUTS TO 54 FT-LBS USING A 12-POINT M12 SOCKET.
- ONLY USE SUPPLIED NUTS AND WASHERS FOR RETAINING BRAKE CALIPERS. NEVER REPLACE THEM WITH LOWER-GRADE HARDWARE!
- AVOID RETORQUING NUTS WHEN HOT, ALWAYS WHEN COOL.
