Safety Instructions

  • When using the ZEISS DTI 3 GEN 2 and DTI 4, personal data is processed.

Safety instructions for handling

  • Never point the lens of the device directly at intense heat sources such as the sun or laser equipment. The objective lens and eyepiece can function as a burning glass and damage the interior components.
  • Avoid touching the metal surface after exposure to sunlight or cold.
  • The protection classes indicated in the technical data are only achieved when all rubber covers are firmly closed.
  • Take breaks after longer periods of use to avoid wrist pain.

Danger of swallowing

  • Do not place this device in the hands of small children. Incorrect handling can cause small parts to come loose which may be swallowed.

Safety instructions for the battery

  • Handle the device with care: rough handling can damage the internal battery.
  • Do not subject the device to impacts, blows, etc., do not crush it or drop it.
  • Do not expose the device or the battery to fire or high temperatures above 60°C.
  • Stop using the device and disconnect it from the power supply if it smells strange, emits smoke, deforms, exhibits any other visible damage or exhibits unexpected behavior. Continued use may result in injuries.
  • We recommend charging the battery only at ambient temperatures between 10°C and 40°C.
  • The battery capacity decreases when operated in a cold environment. This is not a fault and occurs for technical reasons.
  • Do not store the device for long periods at extreme temperatures. This permanently reduces the capacity of the battery.
  • Do not dismantle the device to replace the battery. The battery is not meant to be replaced by the end user. Please contact our Service for this.
  • Dispose of used batteries as explained below.

Safety instructions for the power supply unit

  • Check the power supply unit and cable for visible damage before use.
  • Do not use defective parts and observe the safety instructions for your power supply unit.
  • The power supply unit must meet the requirements for limited power sources according to IEC 62368-1 (appendix Q) or IEC 60950-1 (LPS, chapter 2.5).

Use the system only as described in this instruction manual. The manufacturer and the dealer accept no liability for damages which arise due to non-intended or incorrect use.

Disposal of batteries

In the European Union, this symbol indicates that the battery used in this product may not be disposed of in domestic waste and must be collected for disposal separately. When returning used batteries, please use a collection system that may exist in your country and, if possible, refer to qualified personnel to have the battery removed from the device. Please only return discharged batteries. You will find instructions for removing the battery at www.zeiss.com/cop/recycling.

The materials and substances in the battery may have a detrimental impact on health and the environment. By depositing empty batteries at a recycling facility, you contribute to the protection and conservation of our environment. The battery used does not contain mercury, cadmium or lead in quantities exceeding the limits defined in Directive 2006/66/EC.

User information on the disposal of electrical and electronic devices (private households)

The WEEE symbol on products and/or accompanying documents indicates that used electrical and electronic products must not be mixed with ordinary household waste. For proper treatment, recovery and recycling, take these products to the appropriate collection points where they will be accepted without charge. In some countries, it may also be possible to return these products to your local retailer when you purchase a corresponding new product. The proper disposal of this product serves to protect the environment and prevents possible harmful effects on human beings and the environment, which may arise as a result of incorrect handling of waste.
