Assembly instructions
NOTICE!
Installer: These instructions contain important safety information and must be
forwarded to the boat owner
CAUTION!
Read these instructions thoroughly before proceeding with assembly.
Check contents of the kit against parts list on this instruction sheet.
Parts supplied must be used per instructions. Dome tic cannot accept
responsibility for the integrity of installations in which substitute parts
are used. Cable installation and motor connection must be made in accordance
with the motor manufacturer’s instructions. To insure best remote control
performance, free operation of all motor linkage is essential. Observe all
motor manufacturer’s recommended procedures for adjustment and lubrication.
This kit contains the parts required to adapt 3300/33C type control cables
(manufactured by Dome tic) for throttle and shift applications when used with
OMC inboard/outdrives and Evinrude/Johnson outboards 1979 and later.
Additional items required to complete the installation are: 3300/33C type
control cables (see catalog).
-
Remove jam nut, wiper cap, and swivel boot from one end of cable ( see figure 1 ). Save jam nut and wiper cap for re-use.
Figure 1.
-
Slide the adapter (item 1) over cable end until slot in adapter is aligned with groove in cable end fitting, as shown in figure 2. Carefully insert retainer spring (item 2) into slot and snap into place.
Figure 1.
Item No.| Description| Qty
---|---|---
1| Adapter| 2
2| Retainer Spring| 2
3| Connector| 2
CAUTION!
Be careful not to bend or deform retainer spring. If damaged, it must be
replaced. A damaged spring could allow the adapter to slide freely on the
cable, with subsequent loss of control from the control head.
-
Make sure spring is fully seated, locking adapter securely to cable.
Replace wiper cap on cable swivel tube as shown. -
Thread jam nut onto cable rod, exposing 3/4” (19 mm) of thread (see figure 2).
-
Thread the connector (item 3) onto cable rod until it touches jam nut (see figure 3).
In order to meet the proper dimensional requirements specified by the engine manufacturer for different installations, a number of adjustments are possible (see figure 3).
The adapter has three cylindrical sections (A, B, and C), spaced 5/8” (16 mm)
apart, providing for a total cable adjustment of 1-1/4” (32 mm). When
connecting cables to 1978 model year engines, use section “A” for shift, and
section “A” or “B” for throttle. For other models, consult the engine
manufacturer’s manual for cable travel dimensions.
The connector may be unthreaded up to 3/8” (9 mm) for fine adjustment.
WARNING!
A minimum thread engagement of 3/8” (9 mm) must be maintained to ensure
mechanical integrity. After this adjustment has been made, tighten jam nut
securely against base of connector.
NOTICE!
Before starting engine, check entire assembly. Operate controls and observe
motion of throttle and shift connections. Ensure all connections are correctly
installed and properly tightened.
