Gate Frame Kit Black
HOFT TIPS!
Make sure that all HOFT post kits and spacers are securely installed and that
all section brackets are screwed into top two boards of each fence panel
before installing any part of the HOFT Gate Kit.
It is not recommended to install a HOFT gate on a stand-alone post. The HOFT
Gate Kit is designed to be installed on the end post of a section panel.
The Gate Channels & Slide Cappings can be easily cut to any desired height,
however you must cut the bottom end (see arrow) so they fit perfectly with the
44’’ HOFT Railing Post Kits. This Gate Kit is designed for a maximum width of
48’’.

Installation
*IMPORTANT : Please read all of the installation guide as well as the Hinge & Lock hardware instructions (you chose and bought separately) before starting your project.
- Measure the distance between the two end posts, where your gate will be installed. Gate frame width measurements should be 2’’ smaller than total distance between posts, however you must consult the hinge manufacturer’s instructions to confirm the exact measurements. Then, cut boards ½’’ shorter than the total determined width of your door.
- Lay the two Gate Channels on a leveled surface, making certain that both top and bottom of channels have same distance. Slide your first board into top of channels and screw in only 1 wood screw on each top side.
- Slide in each board from the bottom of the channel, to ensure proper width is maintained. Use the two Spacer Keys for easy and consistent 1/2’’ spacing between boards. For now, it is important that you only screw in the top screw on either side of each board.
- Continue installing boards maintaining the 1/2’’ space with the Spacer Keys and screwing in only top screw on either side of each board. DO NOT use 5th, 9th & 31st holes of each channel for now.
- Once all boards are inserted and top screws secured, take two diagonal measures of your gate. If needed, slowly shift the channels until these two measurements are equal, then install the second wood screw into each side of each board. There are usually 4 screws per board. It is normal if not all holes are used.
- Install the two Slide Cappings into each of the Gate Channels, making certain that the TOP arrow sticker is pointing upward. Secure 6 screws in the 6 holes of the Slide Cappings by hand to be careful not to embed the aluminum of Slide Cappings.
- Install Top Caps for a quality finish.
- Follow hinge & lock manufacturer’s instructions to complete your gate installation. Metal screws must be used to attach hinges and locks to HOFT posts. We recommend you center hinges over the top & bottom wood screws that were used to secure the Slide Cappings.
