SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR STONE

  • PREVENT ANY MAJOR THERMAL SHOCK TO THE STONE. LET THE STONE COOL OFF BEFORE IT IS CLEANED.
  • THE STONE WILL START TO DISPLAY SMALL CRACKS, EVEN WITH NORMAL USE. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT PERFORMANCE AND IS NOT A REASON FOR A WARRANTY CLAIM.
  • THE STONE WILL BECOME DISCOLOURED OVER TIME. THIS IS ALSO NORMAL FOR A NATURAL PRODUCT.

APPLICATION

Grilling is the process of cooking meat, fish or vegetables on a grill plate and on the stone. While these ingredients are prepared on the grill plate, you can melt cheese in the pans for original Swiss raclette dishes. You can also prepare other ingredients on the grill such as fish, meat, vegetables, eggs or mini pancakes.

DESCRIPTION

This Gourmette & Raclette set has the following characteristics:

  • Removable and reversible grill plate with non-stick coating
  • One side of the griddle is completely flat
  • The other side has both a flat area and an area with grilling ribs
  • Removable natural stone
  • Adjustable thermostat
  • Small pans with non-stick coating
  • Spatulas (8)

POSITIONING

  • The Gourmette & Raclette set is only suitable for indoor use.
  • Ensure that there is enough space around the appliance so that its warmth can escape and there is enough ventilation.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Do not move the appliance while it is on or still hot. Use oven gloves if you have to touch the appliance.
  • The grill plate, the stone and the pans get very hot when in use. Do not touch these parts. Be sure to only touch the pans’ handles.
  • Unplug the appliance and wait for it to cool down.
  • Use the pans only on this appliance. Do not use the pans on another gourmet/raclette appliance or on a stove or grill plate.
  • Use this gourmette/raclette set only with the grill plate and the stone in place.
  • To avoid overheating, never cook without these accessories!

FIRST USE

  • Clean the appliance. See “Cleaning and maintenance”.
  • Clean the accessories.
  • Switch on the appliance and set the temperature to maximum. A small amount of smoke may develop when using the appliance for the first time. This smoke may smell unusual. This is normal.
  • Allow the appliance to cool off completely.

ASSEMBLY

  • Remove the plug from the socket.
  • Ensure that the grill plate and the stone are square and stable on its supports.

USE

  • Prepare the ingredients by cutting them into small pieces and seasoning/marinating them to taste.
  • Give the grill plate, the stone and the pans a quick clean with a soft damp cloth.
  • Turn the temperature switch to turn on the appliance and to set the temperature. The power light will illuminate. Turn the temperature switch to ‘MIN’ to turn off the appliance.
  • Only with first use: put a little bit of oil on the grill plate with a soft brush or paper towel. Wait until the oil has soaked in before removing the excess.
  • For further use there is no need to use any more oil.
  • Wait 20 minutes for the grill plate to reach the set temperature. Do not begin cooking food until the grill plate has reached the set temperature. Actually, the grill plate is already at full temperature after 10 minutes, but the stone needs 20 minutes.
  • Small/thin pieces of food grill better and faster than large/thick pieces.
  • Experiment with the temperature and the cooking time for the best results.
  • Use the pans to prepare raclette recipes, to stir fry, or, for example, to prepare eggs or mini-pancakes.
  • Virtually all types of food can be prepared on the flat side of the grill plate. Use this especially for pancakes, eggs and fish.
  • For raclette: put the pans under the grill plate. For gourmette: put the pans under the grill plate or on the flat surface of the grill plate.
  • Fish and meat can be prepared on the ribbed side with the typical stripe effect of a grill grid.
  • You can prepare all the ingredients on the stone, but because the stone only has a channel to avoid excess fat and moisture, we recommend the preparation of somewhat “drier” food on the stone to prevent run-off of fat and water.

Switch the appliance off after using it, unplug it and wait for the appliance to cool down.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Clean the appliance after every use.
  • After use, turn the thermostat to ‘MIN’, then unplug the appliance, and wait until it has cooled down.
  • Do not use sharp objects, or acerbic or abrasive cleaning products to clean the appliance or the accessories. Use the spatula included to remove cooked-on food.
  • Use a kitchen towel to remove any leftover bits of food.
  • Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
  • Clean the grill plate, the pans and spatulas in a soap solution. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry.
  • The pans and spatulas may also be cleaned in the dishwasher, but the grill plate and the stone cannot.
  • IMPORTANT: the stone must not be immersed in water. The stone will absorb too much water and could burst when used again. Once it is completely cooled off, rinse the stone under a trickle of lukewarm water and clean it with a scouring pad. Then dry it well. It is better not to use washing up liquid or any other cleaning product.
  • Wipe the base plate and the exterior of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth.
