FAQs

What is the situation?
When products do not arrive at the expected time, we risk providing inaccurate promises to our customers. This is why we measure if our vendors and carriers were “ready to deliver on time.” Each and every Purchase Order (PO) has a delivery window start and end date. These delivery windows were previously not transparent for carriers.

What is the requirement?
Carriers have to request an appointment on carrier central within the stated delivery window dates of the PO (this info had to be shared by the vendor before). POs that have a CRDD outside the PO delivery window risk chargebacks to vendors. Only weekend-deliveries with a PO delivery window ending on Fridays are excluded from this requirement.

What is the change?
Starting 23/10/2023, Carrier Central will flag POs that are not compliant with the delivery window, after carrier sharing inputs on first CRDD and freight. In case the appointment request contains POs with delivery windows, for which the selected first CRDD is not compliant, the feature will provide a list of all non-compliant POs including the corresponding delivery window.

What does it look like?

What to do in case of incompliance?
In case it’s not possible to request a CRDD within the PO delivery window (as goods cannot be delivered in time), carriers have to reach out to vendors to discuss next steps (vendors are advised to only accept POs/products that are available and can be delivered within the PO delivery window)

What else can I do to be compliant?
Vendors have to continue to provide the correct PO delivery window to carriers. They should request truck loads close to the start of the delivery window and handover the goods to carriers in a timely manner. Carriers have to make sure that they respect the PO delivery windows when booking appointments and do NOT only follow First In First Out (FIFO). In case of FC pushback or unforeseen circumstances from carrier/vendor side, please always edit the existing appointment and do NOT request a new one.

What if Amazon cannot confirm a delivery slot within the PO ship window?
A PO is compliant, in case the CRDD is inside the PO delivery window, but Amazon cannot confirm a slot within this delivery window. There is no further action required from vendor or carrier side.

What happens if I keep the first CRDD with uncompliant POs?
Keeping the first CRDD despite being outside POs’ delivery windows does not block carriers to proceed with the booking process, but will result in a defect for Amazon Inbound Supply Chain processes and risks chargebacks for the vendor.
