SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

  • Read the instructions in this leaflet carefully and keep them within reach. They apply to every version depending on the accessories that come with your appliance.

  • Use, maintenance, cleaning and installation of the product: for your safety, please refer to the various sections and pictograms of the manual.

  • Explanatory diagrams are printed on the product packaging or in the instruction manual (depending on models).

  • This appliance is intended for domestic household use only. It is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee will not apply for:
    – staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments,
    – farm houses,
    – by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments,
    – bed and breakfast type environments.

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance or use it as a toy.

  • Accessible surface temperatures can be high when the appliance is operating, Never touch these surfaces, always use the handles.

  • Remove all packaging materials, stickers and other accessories from the inside and the outside of the appliance.

  • Fully unwind the power cord.

  • Make sure that the electric power supply is compatible with the power rating and voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance.

  • Always plug the appliance into an earthed socket.

  • If an extension cord is used, make sure to choose one of equivalent diameter with an earthed socket. Take all necessary precautions to ensure that no-one trips over the cord.

  • The supply cord should be regularly examined for signs of damage, and if the cord is damaged, the appliance must not be used.

  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similary qualified persons in order to avoid any hazard.

  • If cooking plates are damaged, they must not be used.

  • This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.

  • Never leave the appliance unsupervised when in use.

  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance.
    Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
    Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.

  • Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.

  • Never immerse the appliance or cord in water or any other liquid.

  • WARNING: Do not heat or pre-heat without the 2 cooking plates inside the grill.

  • Certain meats with skin (whole sausages, poultry, etc.) or large pieces of meat can generate spitting oil/ juices. This is why we advise you to prick it before cooking with a knife or a fork.

  • WARNING: Risks of injuries if you do not use this appliance correctly.

  • This appliance can be used up to an altitude of 4000 meters.

  • CAUTION: Do not use charcoal or similar fuels with this appliance.

Do

  • Check the appliance is stable before use.
  • If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.
  • Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals which have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds, We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.
  • When using for the first time, wash the cooking plates (see instructions provided with the appliance), pour a little oil over the plates and wipe them with a soft cloth.
  • Check that both faces of the plate are clean before use.
  • Make sure that the cooking plates are stable, well positioned and securely fastened on the appliance.
  • To avoid damaging the cooking plates, use them only with the appliance for which they were designed (e.g. do not put them in an oven or on a gas or on an electric hob).
  • Only use the cooking plates supplied or purchased from the authorised service centre.
  • To avoid damaging the non-stick coating of the cooking plates, always use plastic or wooden utensils.
  • Only use the accessories provided with the appliance or those purchased from an authorised service centre. Do not use them with other appliances.
  • Position the cord carefully, whether an extension is used or not, so that guests can move freely around the table without tripping over it.

Do not

  • Do not use the appliance outdoors.
  • Never plug the appliance in when it is not in use.
  • Never place the appliance underneath a piece of furniture attached to a wall or a shelf or beside flammable materials such as blinds, curtains or drapes.
  • To prevent the appliance from overheating, do not place it in a corner or against a wall.
  • Never place the appliance directly on a fragile surface (glass table, tablecloth, varnished furniture, etc.) or on a soft surface such as a tea-towel.
  • Do not place the appliance on or near slippery or hot surfaces, nor let the cord hang above a heat source (e.g., cook top, gas stove, etc.)
  • Do not place cooking utensils on the cooking surfaces of the appliance.
  • Never cut directly in the cooking plates.
  • Do not place the hot cooking plates under water or on fragile surface.
  • Never transport the product when it is hot or while in operation.
  • Do not carry the appliance by the handle or the supply cord.
  • Never run the appliance empty.
  • Never insert aluminum foil or any other object between the cooking plates and food.

  • Do not cook food in aluminium foil.
  • To avoid spoiling your product, do not use flambé recipes in connection with it at any time.
  • To maintain the non-stick qualities of the coating, do not allow the appliance to heat when empty beyond the time specified for preheating.
  • The cooking plates should never be handled when hot.
  • Never heat or cook whilst the grill is open.
  • Do not heat the appliance unless the cooking plates are inside it.
  • In order to prevent damage to the cooking surface (non-stick coating), never use a scouring pad or scouring powder.
  • Do not remove the grease collection tray while cooking.
  • If the grease collection tray becomes full when cooking: let the appliance cool down before emptying.
  • Before each use, all components and accessories of this appliance that come into contact with food must be washed.

Recommendations / Information

  • For your safety, this product conforms to all applicable standards and regulations (Low Voltage Directive, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Food Compliant Materials, Environment…).
  • On first use, there may be a slight odour and a little smoke during the first few minutes.
  • If the food is too thick, the safety system will stop the appliance from working.
  • Do not consume foodstuff that comes into contact with the parts marked with logo.

End of use

  • Unplug the appliance.
  • Let it cool for at least 2 hours before cleaning.
  • To clean the cooking plates, use a sponge, some hot water and some washing-up liquid.
  • The heating element is not to be cleaned. If it is really dirty, wait until it has cooled down and wipe it with a dry cloth.
  • The instrument panel is fragile: clean, wipe and dry with a dry, soft cloth only. Do not clean it with a wet sponge as this may damage its functions.
  • Store the appliance and the electrical cord in a dry place.
