Product Usage Instructions

Tubing Preparation

The tubing should be cut squarely and evenly without burrs.
Uneven, jagged, or irregular cuts will produce unsatisfactory connections. Refer to the inset diagram to ensure correct cutting.

Crimp Ring Placement

Slide the crimp ring onto the tubing.

Crimp Diameter Dimensions

Ring Size (in) Minimum (in) Maximum (in)
0.58 0.60 0.70
0.72 0.95 0.96
1 1.18 1.19

Copper Tubing Cutting

Cut copper tubing at right angles using a displacement-type cutter or fine- toothed steel saw.

Burr Removal

Remove the burr from the inside and outside of the tubing to prevent cutting the sealing element.

Sealing Element and Insertion Depth

  • Check the seal for the correct fit. Do not use oils or lubricants.

  • Use only ProPress Shiny Black EPDM or Dull Black FKM Sealing Elements. Mark the proper insertion depth as indicated by the ProPress Insertion Depth Chart.

  • Copper tubing must be free of surface imperfections before installing a ProPress fitting.

Fitting Installation

While turning slightly, slide the press fitting onto the tubing to the marked depth. Ensure that the end of the tubing contacts the stop.

Pressing Tool Setup

Insert the appropriate Viega jaw into the pressing tool and push in the holding pin until it locks in place.

Visual Check and Pressing Process

  • Open the jaw and place it at right angles on the fitting.
  • Visually check the insertion depth using the mark on the tubing.
  • Start the pressing process and hold the trigger until the jaw has engaged the fitting.

Completion and Jaw-Opening

  • After pressing, the jaw can be opened again.

Viega PureFlow Crimp Zero Lead by ProPress Adapter

  • Viega products are designed to be installed by licensed and trained plumbing and mechanical professionals who are familiar with Viega products and their installation.
  • Installation by non-professionals may void Viega LLC’s warranty.
  • Zero lead identifies Viega products meeting the lead free requirements of NSF 61-G through testing under NSF/ANSI 372 (0.25% or less maximum weighted average lead content).
  1. The tubing should be cut squarely and evenly without burrs. Uneven, jagged, or irregular cuts will produce unsatisfactory connections. The inset diagram shows a correctly cut tube compared with an incorrectly cut tube.
  2. Slide the crimp ring onto the tubing.
  3. Position the ring ⅛” to ¼” from the end of the tubing and insert the fitting into the tube to the shoulder or tube stop
  4. The ring must be attached straight. Center the crimping tool jaws exactly over the ring. Keep the tool at 90° and close the handles completely.
    • CAUTION! Do not crimp twice.
  5. When checking crimp connections with a caliper (GO/NO GO gauge), push the gauge STRAIGHT DOWN over the crimped ring.
    • NEVER slide the gauge in from the side. Do not attempt to gauge the crimp at the jaw overlap area. The overlap area is indicated by a slight removal of the blackening treatment. A crimp is acceptable if the GO gauge fits the ring and the NO GO does not. A crimp is unacceptable if the GO gauge does not fit the ring or the NO GO gauge does fit. An incorrect crimp must be cut out of the tubing and replaced. If you check the crimp connections with a micrometer or caliper, use the dimensions shown in the table.
    • Crimp outside diameters should fall within the dimensions listed in the table below when measured with a micrometer or caliper.
      Crimp Diameter Dimensions

Ring Size (in) Minimum (in)      Maximum (in)
      ⅜| 0.58| 0.60
      ½| 0.70| 0.72
      ¾| 0.95| 0.96
      1| 1.18| 1.19

  8. Check the seal for the correct fit. Do not use oils or lubricants. Use only ProPress Shiny Black EPDM or Dull Black FKM Sealing Elements.
  9. Mark proper insertion depth as indicated by the ProPress Insertion Depth Chart. Improper insertion depth may result in improper seals.
    • Copper tubing must be free of surface imperfections, including metal-stamped print lines before a ProPress fitting is installed
  10. While turning slightly, slide the press fitting onto the tubing to the marked depth.
    • Note: End of tubing must contact stop.
  11. Insert the appropriate Viega jaw into the pressing tool (1) and push in the holding pin (2) until it locks in place.
  12. Open the jaw and place it at right angles on the fitting.
    • Visually check insertion depth using a mark on the tubing.
  13. Start the pressing process and hold the trigger until the jaw has engaged the fitting.
  14. After pressing, the jaw can be opened again.
