Getting Started:

Getting Started

Get Ready
To start, you’ll need your robot, charging station and power cord. Set other accessories aside for later. -
Position the Charging Station
Position your drip tray on a flat surface. Slide the front of your Home Base under the clip at the center of the drip tray. -
Plug in the Charging Station
Plug the power cord into the charging station, then into the wall. Wrap the cord back so it won’t get in the way of the robot as it comes and goes.

BATTERY

Do not open, crush, or heat above 176°F: 80°C, or incinerate. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Do not short-circuit the battery by allowing metal objects to contact battery terminals or immerse in liquid. Do not subject batteries to mechanical shock.

Periodically inspect the battery pack for any sign of damage or leakage.
Do not charge damaged or leaking battery packs, do not allow the liquid to come in contact with skin or eyes. If contact has been made, wash the affected area with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.
Place the battery in a sealed plastic bag and recycle or dispose of it safely according to local environmental regulations, or return it to your local authorised iRobot Service Center for disposal. -
Lithium ion batteries and products that contain lithium ion batteries are subject to stringent transportation regulations. If you need to ship this product (with the battery included) for service, travel, or any other reason, you MUST see the Troubleshooting section of your manual or contact customer care for shipping instructions.

AUTOMATIC DIRT DISPOSAL

- Do not use if the cord or plug is damaged. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped into water, return it to a service centre.
- Always disconnect your robot from the dirt disposal before cleaning or maintaining it.
- Do not use the dirt disposal as a step.
- Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair and anything that may reduceair flow.
- To properly maintain your dirt disposal, do not place foreign objects inside and ensure that it is clear of debris.
- In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut-out, this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility.
- Do not allow liquids to get on or into the dirt disposal.
- Do not pour any liquids into the device and do not immerse in water.
- Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
- Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.

Using your Roomba Robot Vacuum
Positioning the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal
Note: Do not place your Clean Base in direct sunlight.
Ensure that the area around the dock is free of clutter to improve docking
performance.
WARNING: To prevent the risk of your robot falling downstairs, ensure that the Charging Station is placed at least 1.2 metres (4 feet) away from stairs.
Download the iRobot Home App and connect to Wi-Fi®
- Follow the step-by-step instructions to set up your Roomba Robot Vacuum.
- Set an automatic cleaning schedule and customise cleaning preferences.
- Create smart maps to tell your robot where, when and how to clean.
Charging
-
Place the robot on the Clean Base to activate the battery.
Note: Your robot comes with a partial charge, but we recommend that you charge the robot for 3 hours prior to starting the first cleaning job. -
If your robot needs to recharge mid-clean, it will return to its Clean Base. Once it is sufficiently charged, it will then resume the cleaning job where it left off.
-
The robot uses a small amount of power whenever it is on the Clean Base. You can put the robot in a further reduced power state when not in use. For instructions and more details on this Reduced Power Standby Mode, refer to the iRobot Home App.

For long-term storage, turn off the robot by removing it from the Clean Base and holding down for 10 seconds. Store the robot in a cool, dry place.
Cleaning
Remove excess clutter from floors before cleaning. Use your robot frequently to maintain well-conditioned floors.
- Your robot will automatically explore and clean your home. It will return to the Clean Base at the end of a cleaning job and whenever it needs to recharge.
- To send the robot back to its Clean Base, tap . A blue light ring pattern will indicate that the robot is seeking the Clean Base.
- When your robot detects an especially dirty area, it will go into DirtDetect™ mode, moving over the area multiple times until it senses that the area has been sufficiently cleaned. The light ring indicator will flash blue.
- Tap to spot clean a designated area. The robot will spiral outwards about 3 feet (1 metre) and then spiral inwards to end where it started. The light ring indicator will show a blue spiral.
About your Automatic Dirt Disposal
While cleaning, your robot will automatically return to the dirt disposal to
empty its bin and recharge as needed.
The dirt disposal’s LED indicator will turn solid red when a new bag is
needed.
If a clog is detected, the dirt disposal will trigger additional attempts to
automatically clear the clog.
Note: If you place your robot on the dirt disposal by hand, it will not empty automatically. In this case, use the iRobot Home App or hold the button down for 2–5 seconds.
Roomba Combo™ Bin
Important: You must register your product in the iRobot Home App and complete a mapping run before using your Combo Bin. See the Activate your Combo Bin card for instructions.

INSTALL THE MOPPING PAD
Slide the pad down over the track. Press the pad to the plate to attach. -
FILL THE BIN
Fill the Combo Bin with water. You may also use a compatible cleaning solution. Compatible solutions are listed at this answers.irobot.com/s /roomba-combo-cleanser
Note: The product starts wicking as soon as water is put into the tank. -
SWAP THE BINS
Remove the Dust Bin from the robot, and install the Combo Bin.

Emptying the Bin
- Press bin release button to remove bin.
- Open bin door to empty bin.
- Place bin back in the robot.
Cleaning the Filter
- Remove the bin. Remove the filter by grasping both ends and pulling out.
- Remove debris by tapping the filter against your trash container.
- Reinsert filter with ridged grips facing out. Place bin back in the robot.
Important: The robot will not run if the filter is not installed correctly. Replace the filter every two months.
Cleaning the Full Bin Sensors
- Remove and empty the bin.
- Wipe the inner sensors with a clean, dry cloth.
- Wipe the bin door with a clean, dry cloth.
Washing the Bin
Important: Do not wash the filter. Remove the filter before washing the bin.

Release the bin, remove the filter, and open the bin door.
-
Rinse the bin using warm water.
Note: Bin is not dishwasher safe. -
Make sure bin is completely dry. Reinsert filter and place bin back in the robot.
Cleaning the Edge-Sweeping Brush
- Use a small screwdriver to loosen the screw holding the Edge-Sweeping Brush in place.
- Pull to remove the Edge-Sweeping Brush. Remove any hair or debris, then reinstall the brush.
Cleaning the Front Caster Wheel

Pull firmly on the front wheel module to remove it from the robot.
Important: A front wheel clogged with hair and debris could result in damage to your floor. If the wheel is not spinning freely after you have cleaned it, please contact Customer Care. -
Pull firmly on the wheel to remove it from its housing

Remove any debris from inside the wheel cavity.
-
Reinstall all parts when finished. Make sure the wheel clicks back into place.
Cleaning the Multi-Surface Brushes
- Pinch the brush frame release tab, lift the tab, and remove any obstructions.
- Remove the brushes from the robot. Remove the brush caps from the ends of the brushes. Remove any hair or debris that has collected beneath the caps. Reinstall the brush caps.
- Remove any hair or debris from the square and hexagonal pegs on the opposite side of the brushes.
- Remove the bin from the robot and clear any debris from the vacuum path.
- Reinstall the brushes in the robot. Match the shape of the brush pegs with the shape of the brush icons in the cleaning head module
Cleaning the Visual Docking Target Sensors, IR Window and Charging Contacts
- Wipe sensors and charging contacts with a clean dry cloth. Alternatively, you can use a pad of melamine foam to remove built-up debris on the robot and Clean Base charging contacts.
- Inspect the visual docking target, IR window and charging contacts to make sure that they are clear of debris. Wipe with a clean, dry cloth.
Important: Do not spray cleaning solution or water onto the sensors or sensor openings.
Removing Debris from Blower Cover
Inspect blower cover for any lint or debris build-up and wipe with a clean dry
cloth to remove.
Replacing the Bag

Lift up on the canister lid to open.
-
Pull up on the plastic card to remove the bag from the canister.
Note: This will seal the bag so dust and debris cannot escape. -
Discard the used bag.

Install a new bag, sliding the plastic card into the guide rails
-
Press down on the lid making sure it is completely closed.
Note: To achieve optimal performance with your robot and automatic dirt disposal, clean and/or replace your robot’s filter as needed.
Cleaning the Mopping Pad
HAND WASHING
Thoroughly wash the pad with warm water.
MACHINE WASHING
Wash using the warm cycle, then air dry. Do not tumble dry. Do not wash with
delicates.
Replacing the Wick Cap
- Remove pad plate
- Remove the wick cap by pulling on the side rubber tab.
- Replace with a new wick cap, pressing firmly into place to create a tight seal to prevent leaking.
- Reintall pad plate
Troubleshooting
Automatic Dirt Disposal
Your dirt disposal will tell you if something is wrong via an LED indicator on the front of the canister and through the iRobot Home App.
LED indicator | Common error | How to fix |

Solid red | Bag full or missing | 1. Replace the bag if it is full or missing. |
2. Make sure that the bag is securely inserted.
3. If problem persists, remove any debris from the port on the bottom of your robot and the dirt disposal.
Blinking red| There is a leak or a clog in the dock evacuation path| 1. Make sure that the canister lid is pushed down and firmly sealed. Hold the CLEAN button on your robot down for 2–5 seconds to manually empty the bin.
2. Remove any debris from the port on the bottom of your robot and dirt disposal.
3. Unplug the dirt disposal from the wall. Place it on its side and inspect the debris evacuation tube for debris. If necessary, remove the tube to clear any debris.
This product has been equipped with a thermal protector designed to protect against damage due to overheating. If the protector operates, the motor will stop running. If this happens, unplug the unit, allow it to cool for 30 minutes, clear any obstructions from the evacuation port and evacuation tube, then plug the unit back in.
Robot
Your robot will tell you something is wrong by playing an audio alert and
turning the light ring indicator red. Press CLEAN for details.

iRobot – Limited Warranty
NOTE: This Limited Warranty (this ” Limited Warranty”) does not affect your statutory rights under the laws relating to the sale of consumer products.
OVERVIEW
iRobot Corporation (‘iRobof, ‘we’, ‘our’, ‘us’) warrants, subject to the
exclusions and limitations set out below, this Product (including the robot
battery, if applicable, and collectively referred to as the “Product”) for the
period of one (1) year from the date of purchase, or the date of delivery if
that is not the same as the date of purchase, (the ‘Warranty Period’). If the
delivery date cannot be verified, then then the Warranty Period shall begin 2
weeks after the date of purchase.
The Product is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship when
purchased directly from iRobot or an iRobot authorized seller/
dealer/reseller. In the event the Product fails to meet the warranty standard
to our reasonable satisfoction, we will within a commercially reasonable time,
free of charge, either repair
or replace the Product as described below.
This Limited Warranty is only valid and enforceable in the country where you
purchased the Product, provided that the said country is on the list of
Specified Countries available at http://global.irobot.com/.
You may register your Product in order to receive Product-related information
and enjoy expedited support from iRobot Customer Core.
Failure to register your Product will not diminish your warronty rights.
MAKING A CLAIM UNDER THE LIMITED WARRANTY
If you wish to make a warranty claim, please contact us or your local
authorized service company/distributor, whose contact details con be found at
http://globa l.irobot.com/. Upon contacting us
or your authorized service company/distributor, please hove the serial number
of your Product ready and the original proof of purchase and/or proof of
delivery from an authorized seller/dealer/reseller, showing the dote of
purchase/delivery and full details of the Product. Our colleagues will advise
you of the process involved in making a claim.
Any claim under this Limited Warranty is subject to you notifying us (or our
authorized service company/distributor) of the alleged defect within a
reasonable time of it coming to your attention and, in any case, by no later
than the expiry of the Warranty Period.
REMEDY
If a claim is received within the Warranty Period and the Product is found to
have foiled under the warranty we shall, at our option:
- repair the Product, exchange the Product with a product that is new or which has been manufactured from new or serviceable used ports and is at least functionally equivalent to the original Product, or exchange the Product with a product that is new and upgraded model which has at least equivalent or upgraded function to the original Product.
As for as applicable lows permit, the Warranty Period will not be extended or renewed or otherwise affected due to subsequent exchange, resale, repair or replacement of the Product. However, port(s) repaired or replaced during the Warranty Period will be warranted for the remoinder of the original Warranty Period or for ninety (90) days from the dote of repair or replacement, whichever is longer.
Replacement or repaired products, as applicable, will be returned to you as soon as commercially practicable. All ports of the Product or other equipment thot we replace shall become our property. If the Product is found not to be covered by this Limited Warranty, we (and our authorized service companies/distributors) reserve the right to charge a handling fee. When repairing or replacing the Product, we may use products or ports that ore new, equivalent to new or re-conditioned.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED?
Unless agreed in writing, the Limited Warranty will not apply if the defect(s)
relate to: (a) normal wear and tear (including, without limitation, wear and
tear of batteries, if applicable), {b) defects caused by rough or
inappropriate handling or use or damage caused by occident, misuse, neglect,
fire, water, lightning or other acts of nature, (c) if the Product contains a
battery and the fact that the battery hos been short-circuited, if the seals
of the battery enclosure or the cells ore broken or show evidence of tampering
or if the battery has been used in equipment other than those for which it hos
been specified, {d) non-compliance with the Product instructions, (e) willful
or deliberate damage, neglect or negligence, (f) use of spore ports, on
unauthorized cleaning solution if applicable, or other replacement items
(including consumables) which are not provided or recommended by us, (g) any
alteration or modification to the Product which hos been carried out by you or
a third party not authorized by us, {h) any failure to adequately package the
Product for transportation, (i) extreme or external causes beyond our
reasonable control including, but not limited to, breakdowns, fluctuations, or
interruptions in electric power, ISP (internet service provider) service, or
wireless networks, (j) weak and/or inconsistent wireless signal strength in
your home, (k) any Product(s) purchased from unauthorized
sellers/dealers/resellers.
This Limited Warranty does not apply to accessories or other consumable items,
such as filters, brushes, dirt disposal bags, cleaning pods or cleaning
solutions. This Limited Warranty will be invalid if (a) the Product’s serial
number hos been removed,
erased,defaced, altered or is illegible in any way (as determined in our sole
discretion), or (b) you ore in breach of the terms of this Limited Warranty or
your contract with us.
LIMITATION OF I ROBOT’S LIABILITY
This Limited Warranty is your sole and exclusive remedy against iRobot and
iRobot’s sole and exclusive liability in respect of defects in your Product.
This Limited Warranty replaces all other iRobot warranties and liabilities,
whether oral, written, (non-mandatory) statutory, contractual, in tort or
otherwise, including, without limitation, and where permitted by applicable
law, any implied conditions, warranties or other terms as to satisfactory
quality or fitness for purpose.
However, this Limited Warranty shall neither exclude nor limit (i) any of your
legal (statutory) rights under the applicable national laws, or (ii) any of
your rights against the seller of the Product.
To the extent permitted by applicable law(s) iRobot does not assume any
liability for loss of or damage to or corruption of data, for any loss of
profit, loss of use of Products or functionality, loss of business,loss of
contracts, loss of revenues or loss of anticipated savings, increased costs or
expenses or for any indirect loss or damage, consequential loss or damage or
special loss or damage.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, iRobot’s liability shall be limited
to the purchase value of the Product. The above limitations shall not apply in
case of gross negligence or intentional misconduct of iRobot or in case of
death or personal injury resulting from iRobot’s proven negligence.
The limitations of warranties, liobiJity, and remedies apply in the State of
New Jersey to the maximum extent permitted by law.
