Do not replace any vehicle fuse with a rating higher than recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. This product is rated to convert 12 V DC to 115 V AC. Ensure that the electrical system in your vehicle can supply this product without causing the vehicle fusing to open. This can be determined by making sure the fuse in the vehicle that protects the outlet is rated higher than 68 amperes. Information on the vehicle fuse ratings are typically found in the vehicle operator’s manual. If a vehicle fuse opens repeatedly, do not keep on replacing it. The cause of the overload must be found. On no account should fuses be patched up with tin foil or wire as this may cause serious damage elsewhere in the electrical circuit or cause fire.

CAUTION: The output voltage distortion is not specified if the temperatures measured on loads supplied by the non-sinusoidal waveform do not exceed the temperatures measured using a sinusoidal waveform by more than 5 Kand, in no case, exceed the allowable temperatures specified in the applicable standard for the load device. The following types of load shall be used for the tests:

Before First Use

CAUTION : Risk of suffocation!
Keep any packaging materials away from children and pets – these materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. suffocation.

  • Remove all the packing materials.
  • Remove and review all components before use.
  • Check the product for transport damages.

Operation

CAUTION : Risk of damage!

  • Make sure to connect the red cable to the positive terminal(+) and the black cable to the negative terminal(-). A reverse polarity connection (positive to negative) blows a fuse and may permanently damage the product.
  • Loose connectors result in an excessive voltage drop and may result in overheated wires and melted insulation.

NOTICE

  • Disconnect the lighter plug or the ring connectors of the cables (J/K) from the battery whenever the engine is switched off for extended periods of time. In some vehicles, the power does not turn off after the engine has been switched off. If the product is left connected, the vehicle battery might become discharged or damaged.
  • The product works best with a battery that is in good condition and fully charged.
  • Position the product on a flat and stable surface in a dry and well-ventilated location.

Checking the wattage of the devices to be connected

CAUTION: Risk of damage!

  • Make sure that the total wattage of the devices to be connected does not exceed the maximum load of the respective outlet. The product automatically shuts down in the event of a power overload.
  • Only use the product with the provided cable. For loads under 100 W, use the cigarette lighter cable (L). For loads between 100 Wand 750 W, use the cables with ring connectors (J and K) for direct connection.

NOTICE
When the connected device switches on, there is an initial surge of power (i.e. “starting load” or “peak load”). Once started, it requires less power to operate (i.e. “running load”). Always check the starting and running loads of the motorized devices before connecting to the product to prevent overload shutdown.

See the table below for the estimated wattage required for different devices. Check the actual wattage requirements on the rating label and in the operating instructions of devices to be used.

Device Watts required Device Watts required
Portable music player 1-5W Soldering gun 132W
Cell phone 10W Finishing sander 176W
Digital camera 15W 27″ television 200W
Handheld gaming device 20W 3/8″ drill 220W
Portable work light 25W 12″ 3-speed fan 231W
Portable DVD player 30W Halogen spotlight 250W
Battery charger 35W 20″ TV/DVD player combo 300W
Stereo system sow Food processor 320W
Laptop computer 75W Small appliances 400W+
13″ television 100W Power tools 400W+

Take the surge wattage (i.e. starting load) required by electrical motors into consideration as well as the rated wattage (i.e. running load). See the below table as an example for adding up the total wattage of devices to be powered.

  2. Plug in the devices to be operated to either the outlets (C) or the USB port (D).
NOTICE : The USB port (D) provides only 5 V ==/ 2.1 A power to an external USBpowered device. It does not support data communication.

  3. Switch the devices on one at a time, so that the product does not have to deliver the surge currents required for all the loads at once.
NOTICE : When operating motor appliances set the low power setting first, then increase gradually.

  4. The status of the wattage indicators on the display (A) varies depending on the consumed wattage of the connected devices.amazon-basics-B0B5KL-4CW8-Car-Power-Inverter-fIG- 21

NOTICE

  • When the wattage indicator lights up in the 100 W section, it indicates that the load should not exceed 100 W.
  • When the wattage indicator lights up in the 100 Wand 250 W sections, it indicates that the load should not exceed 250 W.
  • When the wattage indicator lights up in the 100 W, 250 Wand 500 W sections, it indicates that the load should not exceed 500 W.
  • When the wattage indicator goes off, the maximum load has been reached.
  • When the load exceeds 750 W, the wattage indicator goes off and the battery indicator lights up red.

Switching off

  1. To switch the product off, press and hold the button (B) until the wattage indicator on the display (A) goes off.
  2. Disconnect the cigarette lighter plug from the lighter plug or the cable terminals from the vehicle battery after use.

CAUTION Risk of electric shock or injury!
When disconnecting the cables, always start with the black cable (K) on the black negative teminal (-), then the red cable (J) on the red positive terminal(+). This is to avoid sparking.

NOTICE : When the product is switched on without any load connected, it still draws current from the power source. Always switch the product off after use to avoid discharging the battery.

Cigarette lighter plug fuse replacement
The cigarette lighter plug is equipped with a fuse rated 125 V, 8 A. Replace blown fuse with one of the same type.amazon-basics-B0B5KL-4CW8-Car-Power-

  1. Open the cap of the plug by loosening it in a anti-clockwise direction (Fig. 8).
  2. Remove and replace the fuse with the same type (125 V, 8 A) (Fig. 8).
  3. Close the cap in a clockwise direction.

Tips for maintaining battery condition

  • Vehicle batteries are designed to provide brief periods of very high current needed  for engine starting. They are not intended for constant deep discharge.
  • Regularly operating the product from a vehicle’s battery until the low-voltage alarm sounds will shorten the battery’s life. The battery operating time depends on:
    • the charge level of the battery,
    • the battery capacity,
    • the amount of power drawn by the devices that are connected to the product.
  • With an average load of about 750 W connected to the product, it is needed to start the vehicle regularly, for example every hour or two, to recharge the vehicle’s battery.
  • Prior to doing so, the product must be disconnected from the power source and must remain disconnected whilst charging is in progress.
  • Consider connecting the product to a separate deep-discharge type of suitable battery if it is expected to run the electrical products for extended periods of time.
