Quick Start

Welcome

Congratulations on purchasing ZAGG Rugged Book. The following will show you how to get started, Keep this quick start guide for future reference, For a full instruction manual, please visit zagg.to/instructions.

Getting Started

Turning It On: When you press the Power button, a green light will indicate the power is on. To tum your Rugged Book off, press and hold the Power button for three seconds, A red light will flash indicating your Rugged Book Is off.
Inserting Your Device: Line up the camera and charging port with their corresponding holes in the case, Set the bottom of your tablet into the case, Then snap the rest of the tablet into place. Check all the corners to ensure a proper fit.
Detaching the Case from the Keyboard: Open the case at a 90-degree angle to the keyboard. With one hand, grasp the keyboard at the top night or top left corner. With your other hand, grasp the corresponding top right or top left corner of the case and pull directly upwards. This will disengage the magnets and separate the case and keyboard.
Pairing the Keyboard with Your Device: Verify your device’s Bluetooth® settings are on. Press and hold Rugged Book’s Bluetooth button for three seconds. A blue LED under the power button will flash until pairing is complete. Select “ZAGG Rugged Book” from your device’s list of available devices to complete pairing.

Note: Do not try to pull from the center of the case or the keyboard, This may put stress on the hinge.

Using The Four Modes

Keyboard Mode™ — Your Rugged Book comes in this mode. Use it to enjoy a fast, natural typing experience on the large, backlit keyboard.
Case Mode™ — You can separate the Rugged Bookcase from its keyboard and enjoy ultimate protection while on the go. Remember to turn the Bluetooth connection off or use the Hide/Show function so you can type on your screen while youre away from the keyboard.

Video Mode™ — Remove the Rugged Book case from the keyboard and rotate it 180°. Reattach the case with the screen facing away from the keyboard. You can use the keyboard as a stand for a presentation or to watch a movie.

Book Mode™ — Remove the Rugged Book case from the keyboard and rotate it 180°. Reattach the case with the screen facing away from the keyboard. Close the Rugged Book with your device’s screen facing out to protect your device.

Special Function Keys

Keyboard Shortcuts – Your Rugged Book keyboard features all of the special function keys you’re used to that help you work and play. Here’s a few of the most useful functions. For a complete list of function keys and a full instruction manual, see zagg.to/instructions.
I & 2 Bluetooth — hold for three seconds to pair your Rugged Book with your device,
Home – displays your tablet’s home screen.
Lock — activates and deactivates your tablet’s sleep mode.
Apps running — switches between your tablet’s applications.
Language symbol — toggles between keyboard languages (if active on your device); pressing cmd + spacebar will do the same.
Keyboard hide/show — hides or shows your tablet’s on-screen keyboard.
Previous track — skips to the previous track on your selected playlist.
Play/pause — starts or pauses your current playlist.
  Next track — skips to the next track on your current playlist.
Volume down — decreases your tablet’s volume.
Volume up — increases your tablet’s volume.
Power — tums your Rugged Book keyboard on and off.
Fn + battery symbol — indicates remaining battery life.

Trouble Shooting

Trouble Shooting
If your device doesn’t respond to Rugged Book, there may be a simple explanation. Try the following steps.

  1. Restart your device.
  2. Turn your Rugged Book off and back on.
  3. Forget and re-pair your Rugged Book.
  4. If your Rugged Book does not establish or maintain a Bluetooth connection, reset the Bluetooth module by charging your keyboard.
  5. If, after charging, your keyboard doesn’t operate correctly, please contact ZAGG Customer Service.
