Problem Reason Suggestion
No power, no sound.
  1. Batteries installed incorrectly.
  2. Wrong type of batteries.
  3. Dead battery.

|

  1. Ensure batteries are installed correctly.
  2. Use alkaline batteries.
  3. Replace all old batteries with new batteries.

The detector displays or sounds without detecting any target.|

  1. Environmental electromagnetic interference (EMI)
  2. The humidity of environment may be extremely high.

|

  1. Change the detection area.
  2. Wait for some time to check again.

The detector sounds false signals, or Detector chatters, beeps erratically.|

  1. Using detector indoors.
  2. Sensitivity set too high/ Environmental electromagnetic interference (EMI).
  3. Sweeping the detector’s search coil too fast or at wrong angle.
  4. Using 2 detectors in close proximity.

|

  1. Use detector outdoors only.
  2. Reduce sensitivity. Change the detection area. Wait for some time to check again.
  3. Sweep the search coil more slowly and hold the detector correctly.
  4. Keep two detectors at least 6 meters (20′) apart.

Detector has low sensitivity.|

  1. Low battery power.
  2. Dirty detection coil.
  3. Poor ground conditions.
  4. Set DISC mode.
  5. Incorrectly adjusted sensitivity.

|

  1. Replace the battery.
  2. Clean the search coil.
  3. Change the detection area.
  4. Set AIRTEST mode.
  5. Increase the sensitivity.

The detector does not detect anything.|

  1. Sensitivity set too low.
  2. Target range is eliminated.
  3. Search coil is not parallel to the ground.

|

  1. Increase sensitivity.
  2. Recover all target range.
  3. Adjust the search coil angle to be parallel to the ground.

LCD display multiple target categories or emits several sounds at once.|

  1. There may be over one kind of metal targets.
  2. The detector can’t identify the target. Sometimes, oxidized metal also causes the excursion of target arrow and tone.

|

  1. Reduce the sensitivity to eliminate the detection of the deeper target.
  2. Sweep the search coil with different angles.

Inaccurate target identification|

  1. Environmental electromagnetic interference (EMI).
  2. Improper operation.
  3. Low battery.
  4. The detector can’t identify the target. Sometimes, oxidized metal also causes the excursion of target arrow and tone.

|

  1. Reduce sensitivity. Change the detection area. Wait for some time to check again.
  2. Correctly use the search coil, and set the right mode and SENS.
  3. Replace the batteries with new ones.
  4. Sweep the search coil with different angles.

Using the PINPOINT mode when the search coil approaches the ground, the detector will sound a tone.|

  1. The ground is seriously magnetic.
  2. There may be a large metal under the ground.

|

  1. When gets closer to the ground, choose the PINPOINT mode to reduce the sensitivity.

Product Care and Maintenance

Your metal detector is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for your metal detector, so you can enjoy it for years.

  1. Handle the detector gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage circuit boards and cases that cause the detector to work improperly.
  2. Use the detector only in normal temperature environments. Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices and damage the cases of the detector.
  3. Wipe the detector with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the detector.
  4. Keep the detector away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts.

FAQ

What should I do if my detector does not power on?

Check to ensure the batteries are installed correctly, use alkaline batteries, or replace all old batteries with new ones.

Why is my detector beeping erratically?

This could be due to using the detector indoors, high sensitivity, or interference. Try using it outdoors with adjusted sensitivity or distance from other detectors.

How can I improve my detector’s low sensitivity?

Replace the battery if it’s low, clean the search coil, change the detection area, or adjust the sensitivity settings.

What should I do if the LCD display is showing multiple categories or sounds at once?

Reduce the sensitivity to exclude deeper targets and try sweeping the search coil at different angles.

How can I maintain my metal detector?

Handle it gently, use it within normal temperature ranges, clean it with a damp cloth without harsh chemicals, and keep it away from dust and dirt.
