Product Usage Instructions
Install the Drip Tray
To start, you’ll need your robot, Home Base charging station, drip tray, and
power cord.
To install the drip tray
- Position your drip tray on a flat surface.
- Slide the front of your Home Base under the clip at the center of the drip tray.

- Place the drip tray and charging station on a hard surface with good Wi-Fi coverage.
- Keep the area around the charging station free of clutter.
Plug in the Charging Station
To plug in the charging station
- Plug the power cord into the charging station.
- Plug the other end of the power cord into a wall outlet.
- Wrap the cord back to avoid it getting in the way of the robot’s movement.
Place the Robot on the Charging Station
To place the robot on the charging station
- Line up the metal charging contacts on the robot with the charging contacts on the station.
- After a few minutes, a sound will indicate that the robot is awake.

Getting started

Get ready
To start, you’ll need your robot, Home Base charging station, drip tray, and power cord. -

Wake up Roomba®

- Your robot is not a toy. Small children and pets should be supervised when your robot is operating.
- Do not sit or stand on your robot or Home Base.
- Do not use unauthorized chargers. Use of an unauthorized charger could cause the battery to generate heat, smoke, catch fire, or explode.
- Your robot comes with a region approved power supply cord and is designed to be plugged into a standard household AC power socket only. Do not use any other power supply cord. For replacement cords, please contact Customer Care to ensure proper selection of country specific power supply cord.
- Do not open your robot or Home Base. There are no user serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
- Risk of electric shock, use indoors in dry locations only.
- Do not handle your robot or Home Base with wet hands.
- Store and operate your robot in room temperature environments only.
- If the room to be cleaned contains a balcony, a physical barrier should be used to prevent access to the balcony and ensure safe operation.
- Clean cliff sensors to remove buildup.
- If the room to be cleaned contains equipment, such as a stove, fan, portable heater, or humidifier, remove the equipment before operation. There is a risk of injury, accident or malfunction if the robot comes in contact with and pushes the equipment.

- If the device passes over a power cord and drags it, there is a chance an object could be pulled off a table or shelf. Before using this device, pick up objects like clothing, loose papers, pull cords for blinds or curtains, power cords, and any fragile objects.
- Be aware that the robot moves on its own. Take care when walking in the area that the robot is operating in to avoid stepping on it.
- Do not use this device to pick up sharp objects, glass, or anything that is burning or smoking.

- Before running your robot on carpets or rugs, ensure that the carpets or rugs are compatible with the dual multi-surface rubber brushes on your robot, otherwise known as beater bars.
- Using your robot on a carpet or rug that is not compatible could result in damage to your carpet or rug. Contact your carpet or rug manufacturer with questions on compatibility.
CHARGING STATION
WARNING
- Do not use a Home Base with a damaged cord or plug. If the cord or plug is damaged, it must be replaced.
- Always disconnect your robot from the Home Base before cleaning or maintaining it.
- Charge your robot only with the power supply provided. The provided power supply delivers safety extra low voltage corresponding to the input marking on the robot which is required to maintain safe operation.
- To prevent the risk of your robot falling down stairs, ensure that the Home Base is placed at least 4 feet (1.2 metres) away from stairs.
NOTICE
- Product may not be used with any type of power converter. Use of power converters will immediately void the warranty.
- If you live in an area prone to electrical storms, it is recommended that you use additional surge protection. Your Home Base may be protected with a surge protector in the event of severe electrical storms.
CLEANING SOLUTION
WARNING
- Household cleaning products are safe when used and stored according to the instructions on the label. Always be sure to read and follow the directions carefully.

BATTERY
WARNING
- Do not open, crush, or heat above 176°F: 80°C, or incinerate. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Do not short-circuit the battery by allowing metal objects to contact battery terminals or immerse in liquid. Do not subject batteries to mechanical shock.
- Periodically inspect the battery pack for any sign of damage or leakage.
- Do not charge damaged or leaking battery packs, do not allow the liquid to come in contact with skin or eyes. If contact has been made, wash the affected area with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice. Place the battery in a sealed plastic bag and recycle or dispose of it safely according to local environmental regulations, or return it to your local authorised iRobot Service Center for disposal.
- Lithium ion batteries and products that contain lithium ion batteries are subject to stringent transportation regulations. If you need to ship this product (with the battery included) for service, travel, or any other reason, you MUST see the Troubleshooting section of your manual or contact customer care for shipping instructions.
CAUTION
Battery usage by children should be supervised. Seek medical advice
immediately if a cell or a battery has been swallowed.

- The battery pack must be removed from the robot before recycling or disposal.
- For best results, only use the iRobot Lithium Ion Battery that comes with the robot.

- Always charge and remove the battery from your robot and accessories before long-term storage.

Positioning the Home Base™ Charging Station
WARNING: To prevent the risk of your robot falling downstairs, ensure that the charging station is placed at least 4 feet (1.2 meters) away from stairs.
Download the iRobot Home App and Connect to Wifi
- Follow step-by-step instructions to set up your Roomba.

Charging
Place the robot on the charging station to activate the battery.
Note : Your robot comes with a partial charge, but we recommend that you charge the robot for 3 hours prior to starting the first cleaning job.
- If the “CLEAN” text is pulsing while charging, the robot is in the middle of a cleaning job and will automatically resume where it left.off once recharged.
- The robot uses a small amount of power whenever it is on the Home Base. You can put the robot in a further-reduced power state when not in use. For instructions and more details on this Reduced Power Standby Mode, refer to the iRobot Home App.
- For long-term storage, turn off the robot by removing it from the charging station and holding down for 10 seconds. Store the robot in a cool, dry place.
Cleaning
Remove excess clutter from floors before cleaning. Use your robot frequently to maintain well-conditioned floors.

Your robot will automatically explore and clean your home. It will return to the charging station at the end of a cleaning job and whenever it needs to recharge.

To send the robot back to its charging station, tap . A blue light ring pattern will indicate that the robot is seeking the charging station.
When your robot detects an especially dirty area, it will engage Dirt Detect™ mode, moving in a forward/backward motion to clean the area more thoroughly. The light ring indicator will flash blue. -
Tap to spot clean a designated area. The robot will spiral outward about 3 feet (1 meter) and then spiral inward to end where it started. The light ring indicator will show a blue spiral.`

When the robot senses its bin needs to be emptied, the light ring indicator will illuminate in a red sweeping motion toward the rear.
Troubleshooting
- Your robot will tell you something is wrong by playing an audio alert and turning the light ring indicator red. Press CLEAN or tap the bumper for details. Further support and instructional videos are available in the iRobot Home App.
- After 90 minutes of inactivity off the charging station, the robot will automatically end its cleaning job.
Battery Safety & Shipping
For best results, only use the iRobot Lithium Ion Battery that comes with your
robot.
WARNING : Lithium ion batteries and products that contain lithium ion batteries are subject to stringent transportation regulations. If you need to ship this product for service, travel, or any other reason, you MUST follow the below shipping instructions.
- Battery MUST be turned off before shipping.
- Turn off the battery by removing the robot from the charging station and holding down for 10 seconds. All indicators will turn off.
- Package the robot securely for shipping.

Accessories
Dual Mode Virtual Wall® Barrier
Note: For best results, place at least 8 feet (2.5 meters) from the charging station.
- Use the Dual Mode Virtual Wall® barrier to keep the robot in the places you want cleaned — and out of the ones you don’t. It creates an invisible barrier that only the robot can see. You can leave the device in position between cleanings.
- Dual Mode Virtual Wall Barrier included for selected models only.
Choose the mode to meet your needs
- Virtual Wall Mode : When the switch is in the Virtual Wall position ( ), the device will create a linear barrier to block openings up to 10 feet (3 meters). Note : This barrier gets wider as it gets further from the device (refer to illustration).
- Halo Mode : Toggle the switch to the Halo position ( ), to create a circular barrier. This will prevent the robot from approaching zones you want to protect such as a pet bowl, vase, or under a desk. The Halo barrier extends approximately 12 inches (30 centimetres) from the centre of the device.
- Note : The batteries will last about 8-10 months under normal use. If you are not planning to use your Virtual Wall barrier for an extended period of time, be sure to turn the switch to the Off or middle position.
Roomba Combo™ Bin
IMPORTANT: You must register your product in the iRobot Home App and complete a mapping run before using your Combo Bin. See the Activate your Combo Bin card for instructions.

INSTALL THE MOPPING PAD
Slide the pad down over the track. Press the pad to the plate to attach. -
FILL THE BIN
Fill the Combo Bin with water. You may also use a compatible cleaning solution. Compatible solutions are listed at this answers.irobot.com/s /roomba-combo-cleanser -
SWAP THE BINS
Remove the Dust Bin from the robot, and install the Combo Bin.
Important : Do not flip the robot over with the Combo Bin installed
Note: The product starts wicking as soon as water is put into the tank.
Care and Maintenance
Care and Maintenance Instructions
To keep your robot running at peak performance, perform the procedures on the
following pages.
There are additional instructional videos in the iRobot Home App. If you
notice the robot picking up less debris from your floor, empty the bin, clean
the filter, and clean the brushes.
Note : iRobot manufactures various replacement parts and assemblies. If you think you need a replacement part, please contact iRobot Customer Care for more information.
Replacement frequency may vary. Parts should be replaced if visible wear appears.
Emptying the Bin
- Press bin release button to remove bin.
- Open bin door to empty bin.
- Place bin back in the robot.
Cleaning the Filter
- Remove the bin. Remove the filter by grasping both ends and pulling out.
- Remove debris by tapping the filter against your trash container.
- Reinsert filter with ridged grips facing out. Place bin back in the robot.
Important: The robot will not run if the filter is not installed correctly. Replace the filter every two months.
Cleaning the Full Bin Sensors
- Remove and empty the bin.
- Wipe the inner sensors with a clean, dry cloth.
- Wipe the bin door with a clean, dry cloth.
Washing the Bin
Important: Do not wash the filter. Remove the filter before washing the bin.
- Release the bin, remove the filter, and open the bin door.
- Rinse the bin using warm water. Note : Bin is not dishwasher safe.
- Make sure bin is completely dry. Reinsert filter and place bin back in the robot.
Cleaning the Edge-Sweeping Brush
- Use a coin or small screwdriver to remove the screw holding the Edge-Sweeping Brush in place.
- Pull to remove the Edge-Sweeping Brush. Remove any hair or debris, then reinstall the brush.
Cleaning the Front Caster Wheel
- Pull firmly on the front wheel module to remove it from the robot.
- Pull firmly on the wheel to remove it from its housing (see illustration below).
- Remove any debris from inside the wheel cavity.
- Reinstall all parts when finished. Make sure the wheel clicks back into place.
Housing
Important: A front wheel clogged with hair and debris could result in
damage to your floor. If the wheel is not spinning freely after you have
cleaned it, please contact Customer Care.
Cleaning the Multi-Surface Brushes
- Pinch the brush frame release tab, lift the tab, and remove any obstructions.
- Remove the brushes from the robot. Remove the brush caps from the ends of the brushes. Remove any hair or debris that has collected beneath the caps. Reinstall the brush caps.
- Remove any hair or debris from the square and hexagonal pegs on the opposite side of the brushes.
- Remove the bin from the robot and clear any debris from the vacuum path.
- Reinstall the brushes in the robot. Match the shape of the brush pegs with the shape of the brush icons in the cleaning head module
Cleaning the Sensors, Camera Window, and Charging Contacts
- Wipe sensors, camera window, and charging contacts with a clean, dry cloth.
Important: Do not spray cleaning solution or water onto the sensors or sensor openings.
Cleaning the Mopping Pad
HAND WASHING
Thoroughly wash the pad with warm water.
MACHINE WASHING
Wash using the warm cycle, then air dry. Do not tumble dry. Do not wash with
delicates.
Replacing the Wick Cap
- Remove pad plate
- Remove the wick cap by pulling on the side rubber tab.
- Replace with a new wick cap, pressing firmly into place to create a tight seal to prevent leaking.
- Reintall pad plate

- Be aware that the robot moves on its own. Take care when walking in the area that the robot is operating in to avoid stepping on it.
- Do not use this device to pick up sharp objects, glass, or anything that is burning or smoking.
- Perform the required maintenance as per the Owner’s Guide to ensure safe operation of the robot and charging station.
- If the robot is operating on a floor with stairs, please remove any clutter from the top step.

- Do not allow your robot or Home Base to become wet.

- The failure to maintain cleanliness of charger contacts could result in loss of ability for the robot to charge the battery.
- Before running your robot on hard floors, please test your robot on a small section of the hard floor to ensure that it is compatible. Using your robot on o hard floor that is not compatible could result in damage to your floor. Contact your hard floor manufacturer with questions on compatibility.
- Before running your robot on carpets or rugs, ensure that the carpets or rugs are compatible with the dual multi-surface rubber brushes on your robot, otherwise known as beater bars.
- Using your robot on a carpet or rug that is not compatible could result in damage to your carpet or rug. Contact your carpet or rug manufacturer with questions on compatibility.
CHARGING STATION
WARNING
- Do not use a Home Base with a damaged cord or plug. If the cord or plug is damaged, it must be replaced.
- Always disconnect your robot from the Home Base before cleaning or maintaining it.
- Charge your robot only with the power supply provided. The provided power supply delivers safety extra low voltage corresponding to the input marking on the robot which is required to maintain safe operation.
- To prevent the risk of your robot falling down stairs, ensure that the Home Bose is placed at least 4 feet ( 1.2 metres) away from stairs.
NOTICE
- Product may not be used with any type of power converter. Use of power converters will immediately void the warranty.
- If you live in on area prone to electrical storms, it is recommended that you use additional surge protection. Your Home Bose may be protected with a surge protector in the event of severe electrical storms.

BATTERY
WARNING
- Do not open, crush, or heat above 176° F: 80°C, or incinerate. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Do not short-circuit the battery by allowing metal objects to contact battery terminals or immerse in liquid. Do not subject batteries to mechanical shock.
- Periodically inspect the battery pock for any sign of damage or leakage.
- Do not charge damaged or leaking battery pocks, do not allow the liquid to come in contact with skin or eyes. If contact hos been made, wash the affected area with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice. Place the battery in a sealed plastic bog and recycle or dispose of it safely according to local environmental regulations, or return it to your local authorised iRobot Service Center for disposal.
- Lithium ion batteries and products that contain lithium ion batteries are subject to stringent transportation regulations. If you need to ship this product (with the battery included) for service, travel, or any other reason, you MUST see the Troubleshooting section of your manual or contact customer care for shipping instructions.

NOTE : This Limited Warranty (this “Limited Warranty”) does not affect your statutory rights under the lows relating to the sole of consumer products.
OVERVIEW
- iRobot Corporation (‘iRobot’, ‘we·, ‘our’, ‘us’) warrants, subject to the exclusions and limitations set out below, this Product (including the robot battery, if opplicoble, ond collectively referred to os the “Product”) for the period of one (1) year from the dote of purchase, or the dote of delivery if that is not the some as the dote of purchase, (the ‘Warranty Period’). If the delivery dote cannot be verified, then then the Worronty Period shall begin 2 weeks ofter the dote of purchase.
- The Product is warranted against defects ,n materials ond workmanship when purchased directly from iRobot or on iRobot authorized seller/ dealer/reseller. In the event the Product foils to meet the warranty standard to our reosonoble satisfaction, we will within o commercially reasonable time, free of charge, either repair or replace the Product os described below.
- This Limited Warranty is only valid and enforceable in the country where you purchased the Product, provided that the said country is on the list of Specified Countries ovoiloble at http://globol.irobot.com/.
- You may register your Product in order to receive Product-related information ond enjoy expedited support from iRobot Customer Core. Failure to register your Product will not diminish your warranty rights.
MAKING A CLAIM UNDER THE LIMITED WARRANTY
- If you wish to make o worronty claim, please contact us or your local authorized service company/distributor, whose contact details con be found ot http://globol.irobot.com/. Upon contacting us or your authorized service company/distributor, please hove the serial number of your Product ready and the original proof of purchase and/or proof of delivery from on authorized seller/dealer/ reseller, showing the dote of purchase/delivery ond full details of the Product. Our colleagues will advise you of the process involved in making a claim.
- Any claim under this Limited Warranty is subJect to you notifying us
(or our authorized service com pony/distributor) of the alleged defect within a reasonable time of it coming to your attention and, in ony case, by no later than the expiry of the Warranty Period.
REMEDY
If a claim is received within the Warranty Period and the Product is found to
hove foiled under the warranty we shall, at our option:
- repair the Product,
- exchange the Product with a product that is new or which hos been manufactured from new or serviceable used ports and is at least functionally equivalent to the original Product, or
- exchange the Product with a product that is new and upgraded model which hos ot least equivalent or upgraded function to the original Product.
As for as applicable lows permit, the Warranty Period will not be extended or
renewed or otherwise affected due to subsequent exchange, resole, repair or
replacement of the Product. However, port(s) repaired or replaced during the
Warranty Period will be warranted for the remainder of the original Warranty
Period or for ninety (90) days from the dote of repair or replacement,
whichever is longer.
Replacement or repaired products, os applicable, will be returned to you os
soon os commercially practicable. All ports of the Product or other equipment
that we replace shall become our property. If the Product is found not to be
covered by this Limited Warranty, we (and our authorized service
companies/distributors) reserve the right to charge o handling fee. When
repairing or replacing the Product, we may use products or ports that ore new,
equivalent to new or re-conditioned.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED?

Unless agreed in writing, the Limited Warranty will not apply if the defect(s) relate to: (a) normal wear ond teor (including, without limitation, wear ond tear of batteries, if applicable), (b) defects caused by rough or inoppropriote handling or use or damage caused by accident, misuse, neglect, fire, water, lightning or other acts of nature, (c) if the Product contains o battery and the fact that the battery hos been short-circuited, if the seals of the battery enclosure or the cells are broken or show evidence of tampering or if the battery hos been used in equipment other than those for which it hos been specified, (d) non-compliance with the Product instructions, (e) willful or deliberate damage, neglect or negligence, (f) use of spore ports, on unauthorized cleaning solution if applicable, or other replacement items (including consumables) which are not provided or recommended by us, (g) any alteration or modification to the Product which has been carried out by you or a third party not authorized by us, (h) any failure to odequotely package the Product for transportation, (i) extreme or external causes beyond our reasonable control including, but not limited to, breakdowns, fluctuations, or interruptions in electric power, ISP
(internet service provider) service, or wireless networks, {j) weak ond/or inconsistent wireless signal strength in your home, (k) any Product(s) purchased from unauthorized sellers/dealers/resellers. -
This Limited Worronty does not apply to accessories or other consumable items, such as filters, brushes. dirt disposal bogs, cleaning pods or cleaning solutions. This Limited Warranty will be invalid if (o) the Product’s serial number has been removed. erased, defaced, altered or is illegible in any woy (as determined in our sole discretion), or (b) you ore in breach of the terms of this Limited Warranty or your contract with us.
LIMITATION OF !ROBOT’S LIABILITY
- This Limited Warranty is your sole and exclusive remedy against iRobot ond iRobot’s sole and exclusive liability in respect of defects in your Product. This Limited Warranty replaces all other iRobot warranties and liabilities, whether oral, written, (non-mandatory) statutory, contractual, in tort or otherwise, including, without limitation, ond where permitted by applicable low, any implied conditions, worronties or other terms os to sotisfoctory quality or fitness for purpose.
- However, this Limited Worronty shall neither exclude nor limit (i) ony of your legal (statutory) rights under the opplicoble notional lows, or (ii) ony of your rights ogoinst the seller of the Product.
- Ta the extent permitted by opplicoble low(s) ,Robot does not assume ony liability for loss of or damage to or corruption of dote, for any loss of profit, loss of use of Products or functionality, lass of business, loss of contracts, loss of revenues or loss of anticipated savings, increased costs or expenses or for ony indirect loss or damage, consequential loss or damage or special lass or domoge.
- To the extent permitted by applicable low, iRobot’s liability shall be limited to the purchase value of the Product. The above limitations shall not apply in case of gross negligence or intentional misconduct of iRobot or in case of death or personal injury resulting from iRobofs proven negligence.
