1. Safety information for cutting-off machines

2. Kickbacks and related safety information A kickback is a sudden reaction to a rotating cutting-off wheel when it becomes caught or jammed. The rotating plug-in tool is stopped abruptly, causing an uncontrolled cutting-off machine to be flung upwards toward the operator. If a cutting-off wheel gets caught or jammed in a workpiece, for example, the edge of the wheel caught inside the workpiece might break off or cause a kickback. Cutting-off wheels can also fracture when this happens. Kickback is the result of an electric tool being used wrongly. It can be prevented by suitable precautions as described below.
   • Hold the electric tool securely and move your body and your arms into a position in which you can absorb the force created by a kickback. The operator can handle the kickback and reaction forces by taking suitable precautions.
   • Avoid the area in front of and behind the rotating cutting-off wheel. If kickback occurs, the cutting-off machine will be flung upwards toward the operator.
   • Do not use chain saw blades, wood carving blades, toothed saw blades, or segmented diamond cutting wheels with slots wider than 10 mm. These plug-in tools often cause kickback or loss of control of the electric tool.
   • Avoid blocking the cutting-off wheel or applying excessive contact pressure. Do not make any excessively deep cuts. Overloading the cutting-off wheel will increase the stress on it and its susceptibility to jam or block and therefore the possibility of kickback or the grinding wheel breaking.
   • If the cutting-off wheel jams or if you interrupt your work, switch off the machine and hold it still until the wheel has reached a complete standstill. Never attempt to pull the cutting-off wheel out of the cut while it is still rotating as this might result in kickback. Find and rectify the cause of the jamming.
   • Do not switch the electric tool on again while it is inside the workpiece. Allow the cutting-off wheel to reach its full speed before you continue to cut with care. Otherwise, the wheel might become jammed, jump out of the workpiece or cause a kickback.
   • Provide support for large workpieces to reduce the risk of kickback caused by a jammed cutting-off wheel. Large workpieces might sag under their weight. The workpiece must be supported on both sides of the wheel both near the cut and also at the edge.
3. For your safety, read and observe this safety information for the cutting stand as well as the safety instructions issued by the manufacturers of the electric tool and cutting-off wheel about cutting.
4. The cutting stand must always be securely fastened to a workbench in a horizontal position.
5. Keep your workplace clean and well-illuminated.
6. Avoid abnormal working postures. Make sure you stand squarely and keep your balance at all times.

13. Before starting, make sure that the cutting-off wheel does not touch the workpiece.
14. Check-in regular intervals that all screws, nuts, and bolts are fastened securely enough.
15. Make sure that the power cable is a safe distance from the cutting-off wheel and the working area.
16. Do not use the cutting stand with high-perfor-mance electric tools that are not suitable for the accessory device.
17. Use only cutting-off wheels for metal.
18. Make sure that the cutting-off wheel moves vertically to the base plate.
19. Secure the workpiece carefully. It has to be securely clamped in a straight position to prevent it from moving and skewing while the cut is being made.
20. Do not try to cut workpieces that are too big for the cutting stand.
21. Make sure that the cutting-off wheel stops completely before you remove the workpiece, clamp in a new workpiece, or adjust the angle.
22. Never reach behind or near the cutting-off wheel.
23. Never leave an electric tool unattended when it is running. Always switch off your electric tool before leaving it.
24. Always pull out the power plug when not in use, before carrying out any maintenance work and before changing the tool.
25. Avoid unintentional starting. Make sure that the switch is OFF when inserting the plug in the socket outlet.
26. Never use circular saw blades or ceramic wheels.
27. Before starting, make sure that the machine is fastened in the holder securely and properly.
28. Never use your hands or any other objects to stop the wheel.
29. Do not overload your tool; allow the wheel to work without applying any pressure.

34. The cutting stand is designed for cutting ferrous metals. Do not try to cut wood, brick, or other unsuitable materials.
35. Do not stand in the cutting direction after a new cutting-off wheel has been fitted. Allow the machine to run for approximately one minute before you begin with the cutting. If the cutting-off wheel has an invisible fracture or defect, it will burst in less than one minute.
36. Keep your electric tools in a safe place. When equipment is not being used it should be kept in a dry, closed place out of children‘s reach.
37. Wear suitable work clothes. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry as they may get caught in moving parts. Non-slip shoes are recommended. Wear a hair net if you have long hair.
38. Always remove keys and wrenches after use. Before switching on, make sure that all keys and wrenches have been removed from the tool.

Before starting the equipment

Before you connect the equipment to the mains supply make sure that the data on the rating plate are identical to the mains data.

Assembling the cutting stand (Fig. 2-7)

• Use the three screws (a) to fasten the swing arm (4) on the base plate (1).
• Next, fasten the workpiece clamping device (3) on the base plate (1).
• Then fit the two adjusting screws for the angle grinder (6) and the two fastening screws for the angle grinder (2) as shown in Fig. 3.
• The stand must always be securely fastened to the workbench. Place the equipment on a sturdy and level surface where it is well-illuminated.

Fitting the angle grinder to the cutting stand

This cutting stand is designed for angle grinders with a wheel diameter of 230 mm. Fit the angle grinder as follows: First turn back the two adjusting screws for the angle grinder (6). Next, insert the angle grinder and secure it with the two fastening screws for the angle grinder (2). Then turn the adjusting screws for the angle grinder (6) to secure the body of the angle grinder so that it cannot twist. Finally, fasten the angle grinder cable in the cable clip (5) and fit the additional handle of the angle grinder (c) on the swing arm (b).

Operation

Once the angle grinder has been secured to the cutting stand you can switch on the angle grinder. Hold the handle of the angle grinder and move the cutting wheel slowly towards the workpiece. When the wheel comes into contact with the workpiece, apply uniform pressure and carry out the cut. Upon completion of the cut, return the angle grinder slowly to its starting position and switch off the angle grinder.

Caution!
Let go of the angle grinder smoothly or it might jerk back to its starting position under tension and cause injuries.

Cleaning, maintenance, and ordering of spare parts

Always pull out the mains power plug before starting any cleaning work.

Cleaning

• Keep all safety devices, air vents, and motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
• We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
• Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.

Storage

Store the equipment and accessories in a dark and dry place at above-freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 30 °C. Store the electric tool in its original packaging.
