IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using an electric product, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:
Read all instructions before using this product.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of burns, fire, electric shock, or injury to persons:
- Use product only in dry condition. Do not use while bathing or in a shower.
- Close supervision is required when this product is used by, on, or near children, or persons with limited physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or invalids.
- Use this product only for its intended household use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by Philips North America LLC.
- Never drop or insert any object into any opening.
- Never operate this product if it is not working properly, after it has been dropped or damaged, or after the product has been dropped into water. For assistance call 1-800-243-3050.
- Do not use this product outdoors or operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.
- Never put the product in direct sunlight or store at a temperature above 140 °F (60 °C).
- Always check cutters, cutting unit and guards before using the product. Do not use the product if cutters, cutting unit or guards are damaged, as injury may occur.
- Only use the accessories supplied with the product.
- If product will not be used on a regular basis, remove the battery to prevent possible damage due to chemical leakage. If battery does leak, remove it carefully. Do not allow bare skin to touch leaking fluid.
- The batteries used in this product may present a fire or chemical burn hazard if mistreated. Do not disassemble, heat above 100 °C (212 °F) or incinerate.

Preparing for use
Inserting the battery
Note: Make sure your hands and product are dry when you insert the battery.

To remove the battery compartment cover, turn it clockwise until the setting indicator points to the ‘unlocked’ indication (^) (Fig. 2).

Pull the battery compartment cover off the handle (Fig. 3).

Put the battery in the battery compartment (Fig. 4).
Make sure the + and – poles of the battery point in the right direction.
Note: The product operates on one replaceable AA 1.5-volt battery (not included). -
Slide the battery compartment cover back onto the handle (Fig. 5).

Turn the battery compartment cover counterclockwise until the setting indicator points to the ‘locked’ indication (0) (Fig. 6).
Using the product
Switching the product on and off
- To switch on the product, turn the battery compartment cover counterclockwise until the setting indicator is aligned with the ‘on’ indication (I) (Fig. 7).
- To switch off the product, turn the battery compartment cover clockwise until the setting indicator is aligned with the ‘off’ indication (0).
Detaching and attaching the rotary trimmer
Note: Switch off the product before detaching or attaching the rotary trimmer.

To detach the rotary trimmer from the handle, firmly grasp the attachment below the cutting element and turn it clockwise until the setting indicator points to the ‘unlocked’ indication (^).

Lift the attachment off of the handle. (Fig. 8)

To attach the rotary trimmer to the handle, place the attachment on the handle with the setting indicator pointing to the ‘unlocked’ indication (^).

Firmly grap the attachment below the cutting element and turn it clockwise until the setting indicator points to the ‘locked’ indication (0).
Tip: If the rotary trimmer becomes clogged, detach the attachment and rinse it thoroughly with warm water before you reattach it.
Trimming ear hair
Make sure your outer ear channels are clean and free from wax.

Switch on the product.

Slowly move the rotary trimmer along the rim of the ear to remove hairs that stick out beyond the rim.
Do not insert the rotary trimmer more than 5 mm (13/64 in) into your ear channel, as this could damage the eardrum. -
Carefully insert the rotary trimmer into the outer ear channel. (Fig. 9)

Slowly turn the rotary trimmer around to remove all unwanted hairs from your outer ear channel.

Clean thoroughly after each use (see ‘Cleaning’).
Trimming nose hair
Make sure both the product and nasal passages are clean before trimming. Dried nasal mucus can block the cutting element, preventing the product from turning on.

Switch on the product.

Carefully insert the rotary trimmer into one of your nostrils.
Do not insert the rotary trimmer more than 5 mm (13/64 in) into your nostrils. -
Slowly move the rotary trimmer around inside each nostril (Fig. 10), making sure that you hold the side of the trimmer firmly against the skin. This will reduce the tickling effect that can occur.

Clean thoroughly after each use (see ‘Cleaning’).
Cleaning
Do not immerse the motor unit in water or any other liquid, or rinse it under the tap.
Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as gasoline or acetone to clean the product or any attachments or accessories.
Do not tap on the cutting elements.
Do not use any sharp objects to clean the cutting element.
Clean the rotary trimmer immediately after use and when a lot of hair or dirt has accumulated on the cutting element.
- Use the cleaning brush to remove any excess hair from the cutting element. (Fig. 11)
- Switch on the product and rinse the nose hair trimmer attachment with hot water (Fig. 12).
- Turn off the product and remove the rotary trimmer attachment.
- Turn the attachment upside down, and rinse it with lukewarm water (Fig. 13).
- Carefully shake off excess water and let all parts air dry.
Storage
Store the product in a safe, dry location. Make sure that the product and accessories are completely dry before you store them.
Disposal
Your product is designed and manufactured with high quality materials and components, which can be recycled and reused. For recycling information, please contact your local waste management facilities or visit www.recycle.philips.com.
This product contains batteries:
- Dispose of batteries properly. Do not incinerate. Batteries may explode if overheated.
- Do not wrap in metal or aluminum foil. Tape the waste battery terminals before discarding.
- It is suggested that you contact your local town or city to determine proper battery redemption site(s) in your area.
Removing the disposable battery
To remove the disposable battery, see chapter ‘Preparing for use’.

Warranty restrictions
- Philips North America LLC (USA) and/or Philips Electronics Ltd (Canada) warrants its products for a period of two years after the date of purchase. If any defect due to faulty materials and workmanship occurs within this two-year warranty period, Philips North America LLC (USA) and/or Philips Electronics Ltd (Canada) will repair or replace the product at its expense.
- Philips North America LLC (USA) and/or Philips Electronics Ltd (Canada) will only pay for repair or replacement if convincing proof is provided, for instance by means of a receipt, that the day on which service is claimed is within the warranty period. Parts that are subject to wear (such as cutting units and shaving heads) are not covered by the terms of the international warranty.
- The warranty is not valid if a defect is due to damage caused by incorrect use, poor maintenance (e.g. parts blocked by scale) or if alterations or repairs have been carried out by persons not authorized by Philips North America LLC (USA) and/or Philips Electronics Ltd (Canada).
- For the appliance to be used correctly, the user should strictly adhere to all instructions included in the user manual and should abstain from any actions or uses that are described as undesired or which are warned against in the user manual.
- These warranty restrictions do not affect your statutory rights.
