Controls and Functions
Installation
Connect the microphone
Align the microphone connector with the jack on the front of the radio. Push the connector in firmly and secure it with the locking screw.
Connect the power :
You can connect the radio to any standard 12 volt DC power source, 8 9 10 11
Push-to-Talk button INSTALLATION 5 with either a positive or negative ground.
If you don’t know whether your power supply uses a positive or negative
ground, consult the manual for your power supply or contact the manufacturer.
- Make sure your power supply is turned off.
- For power supplies with a NEGATIVE ground, connect the RED lead on the radio to the power supply’s POSITIVE (+) pole, and connect the BLACK lead to the power supply’s NEGATIVE (–) pole or to a neutral ground such as the chassis. Turn on your power supply.
- Turn the radio’s Volume knob clockwise to power on the radio.
Installing the mounting bracket
When choosing the location for the radio’s mounting bracket, keep the following things in mind:
- Pick a location that does not block your view, interfere with your vehicle’s controls, or hinder you’re driving.
- Make sure the radio and microphone are not in front of an airbag.
- Pick a solid surface that can support the bracket and radio weight.
- Make sure there’s enough room. (You may want to put the radio in the bracket when you’re choosing where to install the bracket.)
Once you choose the location, use the included, self-tapping screws to attach the mounting bracket and the microphone bracket to your vehicle (you don’t have to drill holes). Slide the radio into the bracket and use the included knobs to hold it at the preferred angle.
Connecting an external antenna, you will need to purchase an antenna to operate the radio. There are two basic types of mobile CB antennas–full-length whips and loaded whips–with a wide variety of mounts to suit different vehicle locations.
- Choose an antenna that matches the specifications of this radio.
- Follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions carefully.
- Tune your antenna using a Standing-Wave Ratio (SWR) meter: set the radio to channel 20, and adjust the antenna
Connect external speakers
Connecting Your radio supports two external speakers for remote monitoring
and public address features. External speakers are sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the range of a CB radio with 40 channels?
-
In the United States and the European Union, transmitter power is limited to 4 watts. For line of sight communication, CB radios have a range of around 3 miles (4.8 km) to 20 miles (32 km), depending on geography; however, different radio propagation circumstances may allow communication over considerably greater distances at times.
-
Is a Bearcat 880 CB radio a decent choice?
A PA (public address) mode, antenna caution indicator, RF boost, channel memory, and quick channel 9/19 are among the other features. The Uniden 880 is an excellent choice if you want a feature-rich CB radio with a striking design and display. -
Is it true that a longer CB antenna is better?
When it comes to antennas, taller/longer is better for range of distance, and the optimal antenna length is 1/4 wavelength. This amounts to 102 inches (8.5 feet), which is far too tall for most smartphone apps. -
Where Uniden CBs are made?] Uniden is a global company, but its major commercial operations are in the United States and Japan. China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Philippines have all had manufacturing facilities.
-
What is the distinction between the Uniden 880 and the Uniden 980?
As a result, I’ve considered the Bearcat 880 or 980. The 980 has SSB (USB/LSB) functionality, which is the only difference between the two. Aside than that, they’re both the same. -
Is the CB still in use?
Almost 75% of professional drivers utilise a CB on a daily basis! According to the survey, there are already 5.9 million CBs in use. As a result, CB Radios have become a very common tool in today’s world. -
Which CB radio was the best of all time?
The finest CB ever manufactured was the Cobra 148GTL, but that was 43 years ago!
