process
STEP 1: PREP
MPORTANT: This step is critical to achieve maximum adhesion and durability.
CLEAN: Clean any debris out of the bed and wipe down with a household
detergent or solvent to remove any oils or grease from the surface.
Remove any caps, covers or trim from the bed you don’t want coated.
TAPE: Use the tape to mask off the edges and plug any drain or bolt
holes.
Tape plastic sheeting over any areas not intended to be coated, including cab,
windows and ground around truck if spraying on.
SAND/SCUFF: For proper adhesion, the bed needs to be thoroughly sanded/scuffed to remove any gloss. We recommend a mouse or orbital sander with no higher than 100 grit sandpaper. After sanding, use a blower or broom to remove particles. Wipe the bed again with solvent and allow to completely dry.
STEP 2: APPLY
IMPORTANT: Herculiner Professional Grade Bed Liner is a 2-part coating, with a 4:1 ratio (4 bottles of Bed Liner and 1 bottle of Hardener).
SHAKE: Turn black Bed Liner bottle upside down and SHAKE HARD AND FAST for 1 minute to break up settled texture.
MIX: Gloves recommended. Mix only one bottle at a time.
Measure approximately 6 ½ fl oz (190mL) of Hardener using included measuring
cup and pour into black Bed Liner bottle. Recap the Bed Liner bottle, turn
upside down and SHAKE HARD & FAST FOR 1 MORE MINUTE. Contents of the mixed
bottle have a working time of 1 hour.
SPRAY-ON APPLICATION
ATTACH: Assemble included Spray Gun with nozzle and dip stick. Attach the
mixed bottle to the assembled gun, then attach gun to air compressor.
Set pressure between 60-90 PSI.
SPRAY: It is recommended that you test the spray on a small area and adjust PSI and valve on back of gun as necessary for optimal texture. First coat the sides and corners of the bed. Work from the back of the bed (near the cab) towards the tailgate, spray 12-16 inches away from the bed surface and apply with even, sweeping motion. Repeat mixing and spraying with additional bottles until area is fully covered. Only 1 coat is needed for optimal performance. Check coating from multiple angles to ensure complete coverage.
ROLL-ON APPLICATION
APPLY: Pour mixed bottle into a paint tray. Start by coating seams and corners of the bed using a brush. Dab on rather than brush, being careful not to let it clump or run. Use the included rollers and a 4-inch frame to apply the coating using even strokes working from the back of the bed (near the cab) and work towards the tailgate. Repeat mixing and rolling with additional bottles until area is fully covered. Apply light second coat after 2 hours or after first coat is completely dry.
STEP 3: DRY
After applying, remove tape and plastic sheeting. Herculiner Professional Grade dries in 4 hours, is ready for light use in 12 hours, and heavy use in 24-48 hours. It will cure slower in cold weather and faster in warm weather.
