Ventev 11126 Polycarbonate Enclosures Instruction Manual
Covers/Doors
Covers/doors have a gasket pre-assembled to seal against the base. Attach to the base in these standard configurations:
-
Non-Hinged Enclosure: Screw down in four corners with screws provided. Torque for corner screws is 10 inch-pounds.
Note: When starting and tightening screws, it is easiest to align and tighten screws by first starting all four screws, then tightening opposite
corner screws to 10 inch-pounds. To achieve 6P rating, all four screws will be used and torqued to 10 inch pounds. -
Externally Hinged Along One Side of the Major Dimension of the Enclosure with Opposite Side to the Hinges Held by Latches: Enclosures are provided with cover/door assembled to the base. Screws are also provided to secure the cover/door to the base should they be required. When re-assembling, be sure to align the gasket on cover/door with the sealing bead on the base.
Note: When starting and tightening screws, it is easiest to align and tighten screws by first starting all four screws, then tightening opposite corner screws to 10 inch-pounds. To achieve 6P rating, all four screws will be used and torqued to 10 inch-pounds.
Mounting Feet
Mounting feet and screw pack are provided with Ventev enclosures. To assemble, turn the enclosure upside down on a flat surface, place the mounting bracket over the square boss either horizontally or vertically, and fasten the mounting bracket with the ¼”-20 x 0.5” SS, countersunk Phillips drive screws (torque limit = 32 in. lbs. maximum). The enclosure can be mounted either horizontally or vertically, with the mounting brackets in any configuration, using any acceptable fastening technique.
Cord Grip
- Be sure that hole is free of burrs and panel surface around hole is smooth and free of debris.
- Using the hex portion on the body (not the sealing nut), screw the fitting tightly into the threaded mounting hole.
- Insert the cable through the fitting to the desired position.
- Hand-tighten the SEALING nut as far as possible. Hold the BODY hex stationary with a wrench.
- Using a second wrench, tighten the SEALING nut until the wire is securely held in place.
- Using a wrench on the BODY hex, check to make sure the fitting is still screwed tightly into the panel.
- To disassemble for cable replacement, use a wrench to hold the BODY hex stationary and loosen the
SEALING nut with a second wrench. Grip the disconnected cable and pull while turning the cable in the counterclockwise direction.
NEMA Plug
NEMA Plugs are included with our 8-hole enclosures. The Plug Size included is commensurate to the hole size in the enclosure (0.5” or 0.625”).
- Installation :
- From the outside of the enclosure, place the Plug into the hole and press with your fingertip until you no longer hear a clicking sound.
- Removal:
- From the inside of the enclosure, depress the two tabs holding the plug in place and move the plug through and out of the enclosure.
Installation of Conduit
-
Conduit holes can be cut using standard hole saws. Locations are as desired per any applicable rules or codes.
Maximum hub size for 24x24x10 and 18x16x10 enclosures is 3”. All other enclosures have a maximum hub size of 2”. Any hub must be mounted on a flat surface. -
Metallic Conduit: Secure the conduit connector into the conduit. Then, secure the conduit connector into the pre-drilled hole in the enclosure with the connector locknut. Then, secure the grounding bushing over the connector locknut. All metallic conduits must be properly grounded.
-
Nonmetallic Conduit: Either assemble the conduit connector into the conduit or the pre-drilled hole in the enclosure, and secure with the connector locknut.
-
Grounding Conduit: Any metallic conduit joining an enclosure must be grounded.
-
Conduit must be aligned into or out of enclosure to prevent enclosure damage due to bending stress on enclosure walls.
Miscellaneous
- All threaded inserts in the enclosure and for cover attachment are #10-32.
- Bonding between grounding bushings/lugs or between the grounding bushings/lugs and the devices installed inside the enclosure must be according to applicable governing Electrical Code.
- Do not use PVC cement to connect fittings to enclosure.
