Functional Diagram
The following figure shows a block diagram of the module and illustrates the
major functional parts.
- Power management
- Baseband
- Flash
- Radiofrequency
Peripheral interfaces
Within the operating temperature range, the module meets 3GPP specifications. Within an extended temperature range, the module maintains the ability to establish and maintain functions such as voice, SMS, data transmission, etc., without any unrecoverable malfunction. Radio spectrum and radio networks are not influenced, while one or more specifications, such as Pout, may exceed the specified tolerances of 3GPP. When the temperature returns to the operating temperature range, the module meets 3GPP specifications again.
Pin Assignment
The following figure illustrates the pin assignment of the module.
NOTE
USB_BOOT cannot be pulled up before startup. Keep NC and RESERVED pins
unconnected, all GND pins shall be connected to the ground. The function of
PSM is under development and it is not recommended to use it right now. The
module supports dual-SIM single stand-by. For details, please contact Quectel
Technical Support.
Pin Description
The following tables show the pin definition of the module.
Table 3: 1/0 Parameters Definition
Table 4: Pin Description
The functions of PSM and GRFC are under development and it is not recommended to use them right now, please consult Quectel Technical Support for details.
PIN18( MAIN_W_DISABLE) &PIN19( AP.READY)&PIN30( MAIN_DTR)
PIN38 ( MAIN_DCD)&PIN39( MAIN_RI) When the module is powered on, there will be
a period of time when the power level is indeterminate. First, high-level 3V
lasts for 2 seconds, then low-power Ping lasts for 1.2 seconds, and then it is
configured as 1.8V input/output. According to specific usage scenarios and
circuit design, please evaluate whether the output stage that is indeterminate
when the power is just turned on meets the customer’s application design
requirements.
EVB
In order to help customers develop applications with the EG915U series model.
Quectel provides an evaluation board (UMTS<E EVB), USB to RS-232 converter
cable, earphones, antennas, and other peripherals to control or test the
module. For more details, please refer to document [1].
FCC STATEMENT
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to
the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful
interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received,
including interference that may cause undesired operation. Changes or
modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance
could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits
for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These
limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful
interference in a residential installation.
This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and the receiver.
- Connect the equipment to an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help with an important announcement
Important Note
Radiation Exposure Statement This equipment complies with FCC radiation
exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment
should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the
radiator and your body.
This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. Country Code selection feature to be disabled for products marketed to the US/Canada. This device is intended only for OEM integrators under the following conditions:
- The antenna must be installed such that 20 cm is maintained between the antenna and users, and
- The transmitter module may not be co-located with any other transmitter or antenna,
- For all product markets in the US, OEM has to limit the operation channels in CH1 to CH11 for the 2.4G band-supplied firmware programming tool.
- OEM shall not supply any tool or info to the end-user regarding Regulatory Domain change. (if modular only test Channel 1-11)
As long as the three conditions above are met, further transmitter testing
will not be required. However, the OEM integrator is still responsible for
testing their end product for any additional compliance requirements
required with this module installed.
Important Note
In the event that these conditions cannot be met (for example certain laptop
configurations or co-location with another transmitter), then the FCC
authorization is no longer considered valid and the FCC ID cannot be
used on the final product. In these circumstances, the OEM integrator will be
responsible for re-evaluating the end product (including the transmitter) and
obtaining a separate FCC authorization. Integration instructions for host
product manufacturers according to KDB 996369 D03 OEM Manual v0101
