Safety instructions

Explanation of the symbols

  • Using a CE marking, it can be recognized that a product complies with the legal requirements of European legal standards and therefore may be traded within the European Community.
  • This product must not be disposed of with household waste!

General safety instructions

  • It is dangerous to install the device near curtains and other flammable materials.
  • Do not use the heater near a bath, shower or swimming pool.
  • The heater must not be placed directly under a socket.
  • If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified person to avoid danger.
  • To avoid overheating, the heater must not be covered.
  • This device may only be used by children 8 years old or older and persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or by persons with a lack of experience and/or knowledge, provided they are adequately supervised or given detailed instructions on how to use the device safe and in a secure manner and have understood the potential dangers.
  • Children are not allowed to play with the device. Cleaning and maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision.
  • Keep the device and your cable out of the reach of children under 8 years of age.
  • Attention! This heater is not equipped with a temperature controller. Do not use this heater in small rooms that are occupied by persons who are unable to leave the rooms on their own, at the most if you can provide constant supervision.
  • Make sure that no flammable materials due to wind or other environmental factors cover or hinder the device, such as Curtains, awnings, flags, plastic foil etc.
  • Attention! Some parts of this product can become very hot and cause burns. Special attention must be given to children and persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities.
  • Children under 3 years should be kept away from the unit unless they are under constant surveillance.
  • Children aged 3 years and under may not turn the unit on or off unless it has been installed or set in the intended normal operating position the children are adequately supervised or provided with detailed instructions for safely using the unit and they understand the dangers involved. Children from 3 years and under the age of 8 years may not connect, regulate and clean the device.
  • The heater must not be placed directly under a socket.

Specific safety instructions

When using this electrical device, you must follow the basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury, including the following:

  • Read the manual thoroughly before using this device and keep it in a safe place.
  • Attention: risk of electric shock! Do not try to open or repair the device yourself.
  • The ceiling heater can get hot when it is in use. To avoid burns, do not touch the hot surface! To move the device, allow it to cool and/or wear appropriate protective clothing.
  • Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, sheets, paper, clothes and curtains at least 3 meters from the front of the heater. Also, ensure a safe distance to the sides as well as above and below the ceiling heater. Do not place towels or other items on the radiant heater.
  • Special care is required when the heater is used by or near children or people with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or when the heater is used unattended.
  • Do not use the heater with a damaged power cord or in the event of interference – even if the heater has been hung down or is damaged otherwise. Send the device to an authorized specialist to check the electrical and mechanical settings or for repair.
  • This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, washrooms and similar indoor spaces.
  • Never use the device in places where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.
  • To avoid electrical hazards, never immerse the device in water or other liquids.
  • Do not touch the control panel with wet hands.
  • Do not run a cable under the carpet. Do not cover the cable with carpets, runners or similar coverings. Lay the cable so that there is no risk of tripping.
  • Do not insert foreign objects into the ventilation or exhaust port, as this may cause an electric shock or fire or damage the heater.
  • To avoid possible fire, never block the air intake or the exhaust in any manner. Do not use the device on soft surfaces, like on a bed, where openings may become blocked.
  • Within the heater are hot parts with arcing or sparking. Do not use the heater in areas where gasoline, paint, explosive and/or flammable liquids are stored or used. Keep the device away from hot surfaces and open flames.
  • Avoid using an extension cord as this may cause overheating and thus the risk of fire. If you use an extension cable, it must have a minimum size of 1.5 m².
  • To disconnect the heater, set it to OFF.
  • If you are transporting, cleaning or no longer using the radiant heater, switch it off.
  • Use the appliance only for household use as described in the manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or personal injury.
  • Always use the ceiling heater on a dry and even surface. Only use the device on the ceiling.
  • Warning! To avoid the risk of fire or electric shock, do not use the unit with any solid-state speed controller.
  • Do not attempt to repair this device or change electrical and/or mechanical settings. This will void the warranty. The interior of the device contains no user-serviceable parts.
  • Maintenance should only be performed by qualified personnel.
  • Only connect to properly grounded outlets.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
  • The marketing concerning the covering shall be visible after the heater has been installed.

Use

  • Drill three holes in the ceiling (make sure there are no electrical wires or pipes in the ceiling), then fix the power line box to the ceiling. Pay attention to the distance between the wall to the heater and the ceiling to the heater:AREBOS-AR-HE-IH1500-Radiant-Heater-FIG-4
  • The hook on the ceiling must be able to carry at least 3-4 times the weight of the heater.
  • Place the heater hook around the ceiling hook and attach the chain ring to adjust the height of the heater to the floor.
  • The distance between the floor and the heater must be longer than 70.9 in (1.8 m) and the distance between the heater and the ceiling or the other walls must be at least 19.7 in (50 cm).
  • This equipment must be operated at the correct voltage and frequency (AC 220-240 V, 50 Hz), connected to an individual and properly grounded current branch and protected by a fuse conforming to the wiring regulations. The power cord of the unit must be secured with the chain, the installation must be carried out by a specialist to avoid danger.
  • Operate the heater when it is in an upright position. The ceiling heater has different heat settings. Use the switch on the heater head to control the heat settings (0 = Off / 1 = On).

Cleaning and maintenance

General

  • Turn off the switch before servicing and allow the unit to cool down completely.
  • Clean the outer cover of the heater with a soft, damp cloth. If necessary, you can also use a mild detergent. After cleaning, dry the device with a soft cloth.
  • Do not use alcohol, gasoline, abrasive cleaners, furniture polish or coarse brushes to clean the heater. This can lead to damage or wear on the surface of the heater.
  • Although this outdoor heating is permitted (balcony and terraces), do not immerse the heater in water for your safety. Wait until the device has dried completely before use.

Storage

  • If the heater is not used for an extended period, store it in a cool, dry place. To avoid dust and debris, use the original packaging to repack the unit.

Troubleshooting

  • If the heater does not work, please check the following:
  • Check if the current in the main fuse is working.
  • Make sure that the power switch is turned on.

Disposal of the packaging

  • Please refer to the guidelines and standards for appropriate disposal of the packaging valid in your region. In part, the package may consist of plastic bags – watch this respect, with special care to ensure that this is not out of the reach of children. There is a risk of suffocation!

Disposal of waste equipment

  • Equipment must be disposed of under the rules and regulations of the local waste disposal.

Meaning of the “dustbin”

  • The symbol of the crossed-out dustbin on batteries or accumulators indicates that they must not be disposed of with household waste at the end of their service life.
  • If batteries or accumulators contain mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb), you will find the respective chemical symbol below the symbol of the crossed-out trash can.
  • You are legally obliged to return old batteries and accumulators after use. You can do this free of charge in a retail store or at another collection point near you.
  • Addresses of suitable collection points can be obtained from your city or local government.
  • Batteries may contain substances that are harmful to the environment and human health.
  • Special care must be taken when handling batteries containing lithium due to the particular risks involved.
  • The separate collection and recycling of old batteries and accumulators is intended to avoid negative effects on the environment and human health.
  • Please avoid the generation of waste from old batteries as much as possible, e.g. by preferring batteries with a longer life or rechargeable batteries.
  • Please avoid littering public spaces by not carelessly leaving batteries or electrical and electronic equipment containing batteries.
  • Please consider ways to reuse a battery instead of disposing of it, for example by reconditioning or repairing the battery.
