Designed for hunters and competitive shooters who need a compact, yet super
stable platform for precision shooting and backcountry glassing. Superior
strength-to-weight ratio to support heavy rifles, large binoculars, and
spotting scopes. Intuitive, twist-lock controls for fast setup whether
sitting, standing, or prone. Compatible with all Arca-Swiss standard quick
release systems, which lets you switch from glassing to long-range shooting
mode in seconds.
BASIC ADJUSTMENTS
Tilt/Panning Action
- To unlock the tripod head, open the Ball Locking Lever. Adjust to your desired position and lock the head.
- To lock the tripod head, close the Ball Locking Lever.
− To keep the head free for panning and tilting, keep the Ball Locking Lever open and turn the Tension Knob clockwise until you feel your desired amount of resistance on the head as you pan.
Adjusting Leg Angles
Each for the three leg sections can be adjustable out to 85˚, 55˚, or 25˚.
To adjust the angle of the legs:
- Pull the Leg Angle Pivot Lock out to adjust the leg to the desired angle.
- Push the Leg Angle Pivot Lock back in and pull the leg out to the nearest angle stop.
Note: The Leg Angle Pivot Locks are spring-loaded and will automatically lock when fully opened.
Adjusting Leg Section Length
Two of the three tripod leg sections can be extended to adjust the tripod’s height.
To adjust the length of a leg section:
- Twist the Leg Lock clockwise (when viewing from the top) to loosen the tension.
- Slide the leg section out to the desired length and twist the Leg Lock counterclockwise (when viewing from the top) to lock in place.
Installing Spike Feet
The Switchback™ Carbon comes with Spike Feet that can be installed for use in
sandy conditions or very soft ground.
To install the Spike Feet:
Remove the Rubber Feet from the bottom of the tripod legs by turning them
counterclockwise. Replace them with the Spike Feet and turn clockwise to
tighten.
Attaching Optics or Firearm to the Ball Head
The ball head uses Arca-Swiss style quick-release plates.
To mount your optic/weapon to the tripod:
- Twist the Quick-Release Locking Knob counterclockwise to remove the Quick-Release Plate.
- Attached the plate to your optic or firearm. Be sure to tighten the Mount Bolt from the bottom side of the plate and flip the D-ring so it lies flat.
- Place the Quick-Release Plate back into the tripod head and turn the Quick-Release Locking Knob clockwise to securely lock the plate in the head.
Note: To mount binoculars to the tripod, a binocular adapter is required. Purchase Vortex® binocular adapters from your local dealers.
Note: Some optics and firearms are designed to be Arca-Swiss compatible and can be mounted to the tripod head without the need for plates.
Tip: Purchase additional quick-release plates for your optics so you it is easy for you to switch equipment.
Attaching/Removing the Head
To mount a head to the tripod:
- Rotate the Quick- Release Locking Lever counter-clockwise on the tripod.
- Pull and hold the Quick-Release Pull and fully seat head into the tripod. Once seated, the head can be oriented in any direction.
- Rotate the Quick-Release Locking Lever clockwise to the locked position.
- To remove the head, follow these steps in reverse order.
Tip: You can move the position of the Head release locking lever by pulling it out to disengage the lever and put it into a new position.
