Overview

  • The Pico TOOLS micro-sized high performance 1:2 distribution amplifiers
that are described in this user manual include the following:

  •  PT-102AN, see section 3.1

  • PT-102SN, see section 3.2

The PT-102AN 1:2 Audio DA is a micro-sized high performance 1:2 distribution amplifier for unbalanced 1 stereo audio signals.

The PT-102AN:

  • Accepts a single unbalanced stereo audio input and distributes it to two identical outputs using 3.5mm mini connectors
  • Has separate left and right gain controls for optimizing signal levels
  • Is ideally suited to work with the Pico TOOLS PT-102VN 1:2 Video DA and the Pico TOOLS PT-102SN 1:2 s-Video DA

About the PT-102SN 1:2 s-Video DA
The PT-102SN 1:2 s-Video DA is a micro-sized high performance 1:2 distribution amplifier for s-Video (Y/C) signals.

The PT-102SN:

  • Accepts a single s-Video input and distributes it to two identical outputsvia 4-pin connectors
  • Has a bandwidth of 150MHz, ensuring that it remains transparent even in the most critical applications
  • Has separate chrominance and luminance gain controls
  • Is ideally suited to work with the Pico TOOLS PT-102AN 1:2 Audio DA

To achieve the best performance:

  • Connect only good quality connection cables, thus avoiding interference, deterioration in signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated noise levels (often associated with low quality cables)
  • Avoid interference from neighboring electrical appliances that may adversely influence signal quality and position your Kramer PT-102AN / PT-102SN machine away from moisture, excessive sunlight and dust

Connecting the 1:2 Distribution Amplifie

This section describes how to connect:

  • The PT-102AN, see section 5.1
  • The PT-102SN, see section 5.2
  • Additional inputs or outputs, see section 5.3

Connecting the PT-102AN 1:2 Audio DA

To connect the PT-102AN 1:2 Audio DA, as the example in Figure 3 illustrates, connect the following:

  1. Connect an unbalanced stereo audio source (for example, an unbalanced stereo audio player) to the IN 3.5mm mini connector.

  2. Connect the two OUT 3.5mm mini connectors to up to two unbalanced stereo audio acceptors, as follows:

    • Connect the OUT 1 connector to an unbalanced audio acceptor (for example, an unbalanced stereo audio recorder)
    • Connect the OUT 2 connector to an unbalanced audio acceptor (for example, a power amplifier with speakers)
  3. Connect the 12V DC power adapter to the power socket and connect the adapter to the mains electricity.

  4. Adjust the left and right gain level, if required.

Switch OFF the power on each device before connecting it to your PT-102AN. After connecting your PT-102AN, switch on its power and then switch on the power on each device

Connecting the PT-102SN 1:2 s-Video DA
To connect the PT-102SN 1:2 Audio DA, as the example in Figure 4 illustrates, connect the following

  1. Connect an s-Video source to the IN 4-pin connector (for example, an s-Video player).
  2. Connect the two OUT 4-pin connectors to up to two s-video acceptors (for example, displays).
  3. Connect the 12V DC power adapter to the power socket and connect the adapter to the mains electricity.
  4. Adjust the C and Y gain level, if required.

Increasing the Number of Inputs/Outputs
When it is necessary to handle more than one input (that is, to be able to select one of several inputs), you can increase the number of inputs by connecting the output of another switcher to the input of the machine (for example, connect the output of the Kramer 4x1S 4×1 s-Video Mechanical Switcher to the input of the PT-102SN, to create a 4×2 switcher, as illustrated in Figure 5).c

Figure 5: Increasing the Inputs
Connection
You can cascade the unit with other high quality distribution amplifiers to distribute a source to more than two outputs (for example, connect each of the outputs of the PT-102AN to the input of the Kramer 105A 1:5 Stereo Audio Distribution Amplifier , to create a 1:10 DA, as illustrated in Figure 6).
