Install the PT-5T, PT-5R

Attach the rubber feet and place on a table or mount the PT-5T, PT-5R in a rack (using an optional RK-4PT rack mount).

Connect the inputs and outputs

• Always switch off the power on each device before connecting it to your PT-5T, PT-5R.

• Always use Kramer high-performance cables for connecting AV equipment to the PT-5T, PT-5R.

Overview

• The PT-5T/R is an IR transmitter and receiver pair that lets you control up to five devices via their own remote control transmitters from an extended distance over TP (twisted pair) cable.
• In particular, the PT-5T/R:
  • Lets you operate IR devices that are stacked away in closets, cabinets and even other rooms
  • Can operate at a distance of up to 250m meters (820ft) between the transmitter and receiver
  • Is 5V DC fed

Defining the PT-5T/R IR Extender/Repeater

• This section defines the PT-5T/R.
• Figure 1 defines the front and rear panels of the PT-5T.

1.  **IR IN 3.5mm Mini Jack**  

Plug in the IR receiver (see Section 4.1)

Connecting and Using the PT-5T/R IR Extender/Repeater

Identifying the IR Receiver and IR Emitters
The receiver and emitters can be identified by their size and shape. The receiver is large and trapezoidal in shape; the emitters are small and rectangular in shape with a rounded top. Both have a 2m (6.6ft) cable attached terminated with a 3.5mm mini jack.

Connecting the PT-5T/R IR Extender/Repeater
To connect the PT-5T/R IR Extender/Repeater as illustrated in the example in Figure 4:

1. Plug the IR receiver into the IR IN 3.5mm mini jack on the front panel of the PT-5T.
2. Plug up to two IR emitters into the OUT 1 and OUT 2 3.5mm mini jacks on the front panel of the PT-5T.
3. Mount each of the IR emitters so that each points at and is within range of the relevant media device to be controlled.
4. Plug up to three IR emitters into the OUT 1, OUT 2 and OUT 3 3.5mm mini jacks on the front panel of the PT-5R.
5. Mount each of the IR emitters so that each points at and is within range of the relevant device to be controlled.
6. Connect the PT-5T and the PT-5R together, using TP cable, via the RJ-45 connectors on the rear panel of both devices.
7. Connect the power adapter to the 5V DC connector on the rear panel of the PT-5T or the PT-5R and to the mains electricity.
   Note: Only one of the devices needs to be connected to a power adapter.

Using the PT-5T/R IR Extender/Repeater
Use the remote control specific to the device to operate any of the devices connected via infrared to the PT-5T and PT-5R. (Use the machine’s original remote control or a universal remote control.) The infrared signal from the remote control is transmitted:

• From the PT-5T to the device under control or
• From the PT-5T to the PT-5R via the TP cable, and from there to the device under control

This limited warranty does not cover any damage, deterioration or malfunction resulting from the installation or removal of this product from any installation, any unauthorized tampering with this product, any repairs attempted by anyone unaulhorized by Kramer Electronics lo make such repairs, or any other cause which does not relate directly to a defect in materials and/or WOfkmanship of this product This limited warranty does not cover cartons, equipment enclosures, cables or accessories used in conjunction with this product.
• Without limiting any other exclusion herein. Kramer Electronics does not warrant that the product covered hereby, including, without limitation, the technology and/or integrated circuit(s) included in the product. will not become obsolete or that such items are or will remain compatible with any other product or technology with which the product may be used.

What Kramer Electronics will do
Kramer Electronics will. at its sole option, provide one of the following three remedies to whatever extent it shall deem necessary to satisfy a proper claim under this limited warranty:

1. Elect to repair or facilitate the repair of any defective parts within a reasonable period of time, free of any charge for the necessary parts and labor to complete the repair and restore this product to its proper operating condition. Kramer Electronics will also pay the shipping costs necessary to return this product once the repair is complete.
2. Replace this product with a direct replacement or with a similar product deemed by Kramer Electronics to perform substanliaUy the same function as the original product.
3. Issue a refund of the original purchase price less depreciation to be determined based on the age of the product al the time remedy is sought under this limited warranty.

What Kramer Electronics will not do Under This Limited Warranty
If this product is returned to Kramer Electronics °’ the authorized dealer from which it was purchased or any other party authorized to repair Kramer Electronics products, this product must be insured during shipment, with the insurance and shipping charges prepaid by you. If this product is returned uninsured, you assume all risks of loss or damage during shipment. Kramer Electronics will not be responsible f0< any costs related to the removal 0< re-installation of this product from 0< into any installation. Kramer Electronics will not be responsible for any costs related to any setting up this product, any adjustment of user controls 0< any programming required for a specific installation of this product.

How to Obtain a Remedy under this Limited Warranty
