Safety Instructions

All instructions must be read and observed. The integrated safeguards may be com-promised if the rotating platform and re-mote control are not used in accordance with these instructions. STORE THESE IN-
STRUCTIONS IN A SAFE PLACE.

  • Have the rotating platform and remote control ser-viced only by a qualified repair person using only ori-ginal replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the rotating platform and remote control is maintained.

  • Do not operate the rotating platform or remote con-trol in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dusts. Sparks may be produced in the rotating platform and remote control, which can ignite dust or fumes.
Keep the magnetic accessories away from implants and other medical devices, e.g. pacemakers or insulin pumps. The magnets in the accessories generate a field that can im-pair the function of implants and medical devices.

  • Keep the magnetic accessories away from magnetic data storage media and magnetically-sensitive devices. The effect of the magnets in the accessories can lead to irreversible data loss.

Assembly

Rotating Platform Power Supply
The rotating platform is powered by the mounted measuring tool.
Remote Control Power Supply
Using alkali-manganese batteries is recommended to oper-ate the remote control.
To open the battery compartment cover (23), press on the locking mechanism (24) and remove the battery compart-ment cover. Insert the batteries.
When inserting the batteries, ensure that the polarity is cor-rect according to the illustration on the inside of the battery compartment.
Always replace all the batteries at the same time. Only use batteries from the same manufacturer and which have the same capacity.

  • Remove the batteries from the remote control when not using it for longer periods. The batteries can cor-rode and self-discharge during prolonged storage in the remote control.

Mount the measuring tool on the rotating platform
Place the measuring tool with the guide groove (15) on the guide rail (4) of the rotating platform (6) and slide the meas-uring tool as far as it will go onto the platform.
To disconnect the measuring tool, pull it off the rotating plat-form in the opposite direction.
Roughly align the rotating platform horizontally using the height adjustment screws (7). Mount the holder and BM 3 ceiling clip
Insert the holder (13) into rails on the bottom of the rotating platform until you hear it click into place. Pull the holder out of the rotating platform to remove it.
You can use the magnets of the mounted holder (13) to at-tach the rotating platform to the ceiling clip (14). Keep your fingers away from the rear side of the mag-netic accessory while attaching the accessory to sur-faces. The strong pulling force of the magnets may jam your fingers.
Rotating Platform Positioning Options
You can use the rotating platform as follows:

  • Standing on a flat surface,
  • With the holder (13) screwed onto a vertical surface,
  • With the holder (13) and ceiling clip (14) attached to crown mouldings,
  • With the holder (13) attached to magnetisable materials,
  • With the 1/4″ tripod mount (10) screwed onto a commer-cially available 1/4″ tripod (not shown).BOSCH-RM3-Electric-Swivel-Stand-Smart-Remote-Control-Laser-fig \(5\)

Keep your fingers away from the rear side of the mag-netic accessory while attaching the accessory to sur-faces. The strong pulling force of the magnets may jam your fingers.

Operation

  • Protect the rotating platform and remote control against moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Do not expose the rotating platform or remote control to any extreme temperatures or variations in temper-ature. For example, do not leave them in a car for exten-ded periods of time. In case of large variations in temper-ature, allow the rotating platform and the remote control to adjust to the ambient temperature before putting them into operation.

Starting Operation of the Rotating Platform
Once a measuring tool has been switched on and has suffi-cient voltage, the measuring tool connection indicator (1) will light up and the rotating platform will be ready for opera-tion.
The rotating platform cannot be used without a measuring tool.
Starting Operation of the Remote Control
The remote control will only work if it is fitted with batteries that are sufficiently charged.
Set up the rotating platform in such a manner that the signals of the remote control can directly reach one of the
sensors (2). If the remote control cannot be pointed directly at a sensor, the working range will be reduced. By reflecting the signal (e.g. against walls), the working range can be im-proved even for indirect signals.
Aligning the Measuring Tool with the Rotating Platform
Manual Rotation
Rotate the measuring tool mounted on the rotating platform into the required position by hand or using the fine adjust-ment screw (8).
Rotation with the Remote Control
You can choose between the following movements:

  • Quick clockwise rotation:
Press and hold the button for quick clockwise rotation (22).

  • Quick anticlockwise rotation:
Press and hold the button for quick anticlock-wise rotation (17).

  • Slow clockwise rotation:
Press and hold the button for slow clockwise rotation (21).

  • Slow anticlockwise rotation:
Press and hold the button for slow anticlock-wise rotation (18).

  • Gradual clockwise rotation:
Press and hold the button for gradual clockwise rotation (20).

  • Gradual anticlockwise rotation:
Press and hold the button for gradual anticlock-wise rotation (19).

Rotation with a Smartphone
For information about remotely controlling the measuring tool and rotating platform using a smartphone, please refer to your measuring tool’s instruction manual.
Working Advice
Note on Gradual Alignment Over Short Distances
To ensure precise positioning of the laser line even over large distances, the rotating motion for gradual rotation is very small. The shorter the distance between the laser and the target, the smaller the effect of the laser rotating motion.
Note on Precise Positioning
If you cannot precisely align the laser line with a reference point, rotate the platform back a little and try again. If you still cannot hit the target, reduce the distance between the measuring tool and the target.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning
Keep the rotating platform and remote control clean at all times.
Do not immerse the rotating platform or remote control into water or other fluids.
Wipe off any dirt using a damp, soft cloth. Do not use any de-tergents or solvents.
