No message notifications

Unable to receive messages after my wearable device is connected to a HUAWEI or third-party Android phone:

If you are using an iPhone, please refer to this.

Principle behind notifications:

When your wearable device is connected to your phone using the Huawei Health app, the app will send notifications displayed on the notification panel of your phone to your wearable device. If notifications do not display on the notification panel of your phone, your phone will not send any notifications to your wearable device even when there are new notifications from apps on your phone.

  • If you have enabled  Mute notifications when using phone  or  Smart reminder , your wearable device will not notify you of messages when you are using your phone.

You can disable  Mute notifications when using phone  or  Smart reminder  by opening the Huawei Health app, going to Devices, entering the device details screen, and touching Notifications.

Ensure that you are wearing your wearable device correctly.

If the issue persists, perform the following steps:

Ensure that your phone can receive message notifications in the

notification panel

  • HUAWEI phones: Go to Settings > Notifications & status bar, find the app in question, enable Allow notifications, set the notification styles (such as Choose ringtone, Vibrate, Banners, Lock screen notifications, Allow interruptions, or App icon badges) for the app, and disable Gentle notifications. The following uses WeChat as an example.

If WeChat messages are not pushed or the message content does not display, open WeChat, go to  Me  >  Settings  >  Message Notifications , and enable  New Message Alerts  and  Notification Center.

  • Xiaomi phones: Go to  Settings  >  Notification management , select the app in question, enable  Allow notifications , and enable  Floating notifications  and  Lock screen notifications.

For Xiaomi phones running MIUI 12 or later, go to  Settings  > Notification management  >  Notification display settings , and disable  App lock protection / Notification filtering.

  • Samsung phones: Go to  Settings  >  Notifications  >  Apps , select the app in question, turn on the switch, and enable  Display notificationsNew message notificationsOther notifications , and  Voice call invitation notifications.
Ensure that the Huawei Health app can push message notifications
  • If you are using a phone running Android 13, go to  Settings  >  Apps  >  Huawei Health  >  More  (in the upper right corner) >  Allow restricted settings  >  Allow , go back to  Huawei Health  >  Notifications , and enable notifications for the Huawei Health app.

  • The setting method may vary depending on your phone model. For details, contact your phone’s manufacturer.

  1. Grant notification permissions for the Huawei Health app.

    • HUAWEI phones: Go to Settings, search for Permissions and open it, touch   in the upper right corner, and go to Special access > Notification access > Huawei Health.

    • Xiaomi phones (taking MIUI 12 as an example): Go to  Settings  >  Privacy  >  Management  >  Special app permissions  >  Notifications  > Huawei Health.

    • The setting method may vary depending on your phone model. For details, contact your phone’s manufacturer.

  2. Enable message notifications in the Huawei Health app.

Open the Huawei Health app, touch Devices and select the connected device, touch Notifications, enable Notifications, and make sure that you enable notifications for the app in question.

Ensure that the Huawei Health app is properly linked with your wearable

device

  • To view the connection status, open the Huawei Health app, and touch Devices. If your device is shown as disconnected, touch  CONNECT.

  • To prevent the Huawei Health app from being closed with one touch, it is strongly recommended that you set the app as a protected background app on your phone, to improve the stability of message push. To lock the Huawei Health app on a HUAWEI phone, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to visit the multi-task screen, find the Huawei Health app, and swipe down to lock it.

If your phone is displaying a chat screen, chat messages will not be pushed to your wearable device. For example, WeChat messages on a chat screen in WeChat will not be pushed to your wearable device.

Update your wearable device and the Huawei Health app to their latest

versions

  • To update your wearable device, open the Huawei Health app, touch Devices and then  connected device , and touch Firmware update.

  • To update the Huawei Health app, please refer to this.

Restart your phone and reconnect it to your wearable device

If the issue persists, restart your phone and connect your wearable device to your phone and try again. For details about how to pair and connect your wearable device with your phone, please refer to this.
