METRIC CONVERSION CALCULATION AND CONVERTING TO FRACTION
3 m → ? yd → ? ft
- “←” or “→” symbol indicates the metric conversion direction.
- If the integer part of a real number displayed with the symbol “=” has 4 digits or fewer, press to convert the decimal portion into a fraction n/32. The fraction is reduced to n/16, n/8, n/4, or n/2, when possible. The fraction displayed with the symbol “=” is converted back to the initial decimal number by pressing .
- The symbol “APP.” appears only when a decimal value is converted to its approximate fraction. If the conversion to a fraction (n/32, n/16, n/8, n/4, or n/2) is done by rounding up, the symbol “↑” is displayed. If the conversion is done by rounding down, the symbol “↓” is displayed. The symbols “APP.”, “↑”, and “↓” are not displayed if the result of the conversion is an exact fraction .
- If a calculation is continued (by pressing ] or similar) with an approximate fraction displayed, the calculation is performed using the original decimal value. If a calculation is continued with an exact fraction the calculation is performed using the fraction
The following rates are pre-installed
*1 The conversion multiplier of a squared or a cubic value is determined by calculating the conversion constant of the base value.
2 If the calculated conversion multiplier exceeds 10 digits, the 11th digit is rounded off.
*3 The conversion rate of “acre→m2” is based on the international mile→km conversion rate and calculated by using the formula 640 acre = 1 mile2.
*4 The conversion rate of “kcal→kJ” uses the conversion constant of the thermochemical calorie (calTH).
Note:
- There may be a slight error in conversion results due to the rounding off of numbers. Use results for reference only.
- Conversion constants are based on the 1995 edition of the “Guide for the Use of the International System of Units (SI)” released by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology).
USING FRACTIONS AND CONVERTING TO DECIMAL
(1) 1 1/2 → decimal number
(1) 6 ft 6 in (6 6/12 ft) → ? m
(1) 3/4 oz + 9/16 oz → ? g
Note:
- Fractional entries and displays “integernumerator/denominator” have the following digit limitations: (4-digit integer) (2-digit integer) / (2-digit integer)
- If the result of a calculation or conversion exceeds any one of the above digit limitations, the converted decimal value is displayed instead.
PERFORMING A MULTIPLE CONVERSION
-
Before performing Multiple Conversion, set and confirm a conversion rate first. (The initial conversion rate is “0”.)
-
A conversion rate can be set (or changed) using 10 digits. (A decimal point does not count as 1 digit.)
-
Once set, the conversion rate is memorized until it is changed. However, the conversion rate may change because of battery replacement or consumption, etc.
- (1) Confirm the conversion rate (0).
-
- Set up a conversion rate (i.e. 1 dollar = 105.45 yen). Converting 500 dollars to yen, and 3980 yen to dollars
